My UYE virginity was stripped from me like the varnish off of cheap wood. I casually strolled in to find the gang starting to assemble. Mostly every one arrived either early or just in perfect time to bring the house down with karaōke.
Now to be fair, I made a pact not to sing beforehand so I was not on show mode. However, these Unilocalers could clearly stand a good chance on American Idol. I am saving my thoughts on the venue for the venue page – but let me tell you that even the staff here has talent.
It was tons of fun and everyone was as they presented themselves to be online: genuine, hospitable folks. It was all love.

I can’t say it enough… You guys are awesome!!! I now need to get off the app and figure out how to steal all your photos! I always know when I’m having a great time when I don’t have decent photos of anything!

What strikes me everytime I go out with my Unilocal friends is that in addition to making each other laugh, we have fun, because in addition to being f*cking awesome, we make each other happy. Between Unilocal Talk and actively stalking these people, I have managed to find genuinely good human beings who have taught me about the world at large. Karen bought me a birthday cake and everyone sang me «Happy Birthday!» while I was wondering what the hell was happening. I was too tired to cry but this is one of the better birthdays I have had in a long time. You vampires are likely still partying. Sleep well.
Addendum: I just read the above and am an ego-​monster so let me add details about other people. Karen threw a kick ass party that many women and Spencer, our honorary woman, showed up for (I am sorry Trev, I consider you a territory of the force that is Alex). The place had no White Russians or Bailey’s Irish Cream, so Spencer could not drink. I met Mardory for the first time and she was lovely. Mary is a professional singer and listening to her belt it out was the only time we were quiet. We were in a small war with the table full of Embassy interns to our right because they had little energy so we sang over one of their songs and they were pissed. The piano player was great, we gave him lots of tip money, the food was not so great and while karaōke started at 9, happy hour is from 5 to 7.
