The staff here is absolutely marvelous. I did not know what to expect from a post office that was still open at 8:30pm but my teller was delightful and helped answer all my questions regarding my package.

THIS is the BEST post office branch in the entire New York City! First of all, it’s open until 10 PM — long after all the others close. And secondly, they have DANIEL — the greatest, sunniest, most competent and most pleasant ever postal worker! What a stark contrast with absolutely everybody else who is employed as a postal clerk anywhere else in these United States… Daniel is the epitome of cool, fast, expeditious, competent, intelligent and forever smiling and welcoming! Shockingly true — to discover one postal worker who greets you with a warm smile, cracking jokes and kindly answering all of your questions/​inquiries, treating you with respect, dignity, and courtesy, and all this while being lightning-​fast with your packages, not minding if you asked him to compare the difference between First Class and Media Mail, not grumpy, not hating his job, not berating you, not resenting you as a customer, always helping, always valuing you! What a pleasure! Thank you, Daniel, you made my day! I am sure anyone who ever had the privilege to meet you and see your work, was grateful and elated.

I would rather spend the extra money to have my shipments sent off from elsewhere. They lost my time sensitive package and were less than helpful. One of the staff members point blank called me a liar multiple times in regards to the situation and refused to help me even though I had another staff member call and validate that it was true.

Took 30 mins only to hear that the only way to get a letter overnight guaranteed to downtown Brooklyn would be to get out of line, find an Express envelope somewhere (now re-​termed Priority Mail Express, as if it weren’t confusing enough already), then get back in line. Saved from 1 star only by the excellent pre-​line guy who said I could pay for my pre-​filled out mailing at the Store desk.
Construction until 2018 for the new Moynihan station makes the lobby so dusty that I thought there was a fire with smoke. Turns out, it’s just dust from the serious excavation directly underneath the lobby.

The best post office in NYC. I love their hours and I love that they’re open on Sundays as well. It really saves me when I need to send out an eBay purchase the same day. Thanks USPS.

For dropping off prepaid packages, avoid all midtown post offices, particularly this one. Packages will sit at local processing center for days before moving on.

First of all the USPS couldn’t deliver my package by the guaranteed time, which cost three times as much as a regular delivery of 3 – 5 days. It gets there three days later so I miss out on having the paintings I sent be in an art show.
When I come to claim a refund– I have to wait forever, no one has a clue as to what’s needed to give me a refund and they’re trying to make me do everything online instead, after filling out forms, giving my id and so on. Then they made me wait for a superviser for a loooooooong time and she never came! Then another lady comes and says they don’t do international refunds at all! Cum’on. I’m mad as hell. Waited forever with no information!!! Where do they find these people?
Worst. Service. Ever. Don’t go there.

The clerks are consistently unfriendly, and the post offices regulations are inefficient. Clerks are required to follow an annoying script regardless of whether or not the customer has already made the answers to their questions clear. The script tries to upsell clients, which I find inappropriate in a government agency. Packages are not delivered as quickly or as correctly as they are by other companies in the industry, and packages are often lost. Would give zero stars if I could.

Singular worse customer service experience of my life at the Passport office fall 2014. I am an event planner, a purely service field, so I am excessively courteous to other people who have to work with the public. I patiently waited in queue to apply for name change on passport. After hours, was told that I had the wrong form and that I would not be able to complete my transaction at all. Not. This is the wrong form, please fill this one out instead. The agent kept looking to her friends to know what to tell me; when I asked why I can’t fill out the form now, they refused to help. Then I tried to ask for their supervisor, one of the women who clearly has little regard for time and does not want to do her job drags her feet over to tell me off. I asked for both of their names and they just turned to the side and dodged the question, whispering something under their breath. As I’m trying to get an explanation, they call over the next client and so now we’re both awkwardly standing next to each other because people here have no consideration for their job. awful awful awful awful awful awful.
My advice is to just pay middleman companies to address your passport issues. It’s a little more money but it saves you time, tears, and trouble of dealing with this type of people who have a complete disregard for their job and treat people like shit.

There’s no word to describe this kind of service. This is the kind of service that makes the world goes back to ice age. I had a missed delivery (though I was at home and no door bell rang) so I went there to get my package. To say that the guy, whom I was sent to to get my package, who sits at window 9 on Wednesday at 7pm is a total piece of shit, is a compliment. It’s ur job to work until 10pm not 7pm. I waited for 35 mins to get a stupid package with no delivery receipt because there really was none attached anywhere on my door or building. He made faces when I said there was no receipt left on my door. Then he sent me to window 2 which was closed. Then he sent me to another woman to help him because he was too lazy to get off his actual fucking fat ass to maybe burn 5 calories from donuts n fried shit that he ate. The woman who was nice enough to check for my package said she couldn’t get it bc its upstairs in another segment n she doesn’t deal with it. The whole usps system said its opened until 10pm and I can get my package until 10 not 7pm. She even asked me why I came now n not earlier. Like wtf do u mean? Package said it was attempted at 5pm n that was 7pm when I went. I have a life unlike those useless ppl who I dealt with. Also it was not her freakin problem to question me. What is this? This place exists to remind us that public company is a failure and we should all resort to private companies.
Another guy next to me also had the same problem when the fat ass guy charged him more than he should have been charged to send a letter. $ 11 to send a letter? That is unheard of. Even jails don’t deserve this kind of people to work there. the government would be better of paying these fat lazy low IQ scums full of attitudes asses to be lab rats testing nuclear weapons or chemicals rather than paying them to work at usps. The would would be a much better place.

Ehhh… so although they hand cancel it, they still run it through the machine on the other side. Not the best, but it could’ve been worst, like what they did at the Sunnyside post office. Still not impressed and it seems you really have to go to a small post office. My co-​worker had it perfectly hand canceled in Metuchen, NJ.

There is always a one hour wait everytime I go to this post office. Too many people running around and nobody working behind the counter.

It was my third time in this location. Always the same — long line. You have to spend on the line at least 20 – 30 minutes. Wasting time!!! Just go another location. I find 42^nd street one. Between 8−9^th avenues. Line moves much faster and supervisor is very good offers every single person her service.

I have to say, this USPS is quite ridiculous. Some of the employees are great and helpful while others make the experience that much worse. I also have had a PO Box for quite some time. You have to use the main line to pick up packages that they could very easily slip into the PO Box. Express and/​or priority mail sometimes takes 2 weeks or more because they’re often misshipped. I’m currently waiting on a package from Brooklyn which was shipped last week. Once again, misshipped. I should have simply picked it up in person.
USPS, get it together. It’s no wonder the business is sinking. I’m close to going back to renting my UPS box at a ridiculous cost just for the reliability.

It’s hard to find a post office that carries Philatelic stamps, but James A. Farley (8^th Avenue and 34^th Street) is the main post office. The retail postal store at 380 West 33^rd Street around the corner has limited hours and is smaller, but it is here where I was able to attain my highly coveted postal stamps as a avid Philatelic.
Huge in size occupying one block of physical space and open late hours during the business week. The façade contains lots of steps resembling a courthouse with pillars to the entrance. This massive building is impossible to be missed during one’s travels. The interior is very dated and sheer size of great height and adorned U.S. flags, very high ceiling with chandeliers and ornate ceiling. The old days when the U.S. economy was booming successful for this location to open ²⁴⁄₇ are long gone. They do open late until 10 PM Mondays to Fridays unlike smaller locations in the boroughs. Long line for window services move with efficiency and self-​service machines are plenty available.

Going to the post office is never a particularly pleasant experience in NYC. But this place just might be the exception.
Why, you ask?
1) ²⁴⁄₇ access to postage kiosks
2) The staff is actually rather pleasant, for the most part.
3) It’s in impressive building, if you stop to smell the proverbial roses for a moment.
4) They annually put up the best (and only) USPS Christmas decorations I’ve seen.
5) Tons of Citi Bikes available right out front, in order to make a swift getaway when your mailing is all done.

Horrible. Bad attitudes, terrible service, no one answers the phone. They consistently misdeliver or lose packages. Useless & incompetent. Can’t we figure out how to get a friggin’ post office up to speed? Not to mention, it’s NYC — we don’t move at the speed of dead, here. I’ve been ringing their phone for the last TWO HOURS — no one picks up. (Oh, and their hours are so convenient: 8a-​4p… so anyone who’s employed out of the home, can’t go. Great!)
Yesterday, I called and spoke to someone after only 30 mins of calling (who knew I was actually lucky yesterday!?) who told me she’d speak to her supervisor… she took my name/#/address… yeah right. No call back today, and my package was again attempted at the wrong address. No sticker on the 1^st or 2^nd attempt (because they didn’t deliver to me), no doorbell ring on the 1^st or 2^nd attempt (because they didn’t deliver to me) and now I can’t get anybody on the telephone to request that they hold it (which is why I left my info for a supervisor in the first place — I should’ve known no one would call me back). Wow, how helpful! Good thing I paid $ 120 for a product that will probably end up getting shipped back to sender.
TOTALLY USELESS. I ABHOR that this is my local post office. If I could tell every vendor to use UPS or FedEx from now on, I would. If I could skip sending holiday cards, trust me, I would. Waste of time, space, funds, etc. Sorry — but I’m continuously proven correct on this; wish I could review differently.
PS: It’s been a while since I’ve incessantly been redialing their #… and now I’m getting a consistent busy signal. I highly doubt anyone picked up, but more-​than-​likely, someone threw the phone off the hook. Again, how professional.
(Out of curiosity, how is it that postal workers ‘go postal?’ It seems like everyone treats their jobs as if it’s a cakewalk that they don’t care about, but on the flipside, the customers are the most frustrated, unsatisfied people on the planet. I could, however, see a customer ‘going postal.’ Food for thought.)

This is the WORST Post Office on the planet!!! They have consistently lost packages. The lines are long because the tellers are having personal conversations.
I have asked for someone higher up to complain to and they give you a number to someone who doesn’t care. When I asked who the CEO is, no one knows cause they are protecting each other waiting for a petition.
The one star is for employees Lisa and Carl who are the only 2 people who have gone above and beyond to help.

I came in here on Thursday to mail a greeting card. I knew it would weigh more than the cost of one stamp. This post office used to have machines that took cash. They no longer do. But the machine that takes cards wants you to spend a minimum of $ 1. I’m like are you kidding me? Why have a machine that takes cards only but wants you to spend a minimum amount of money. SO I went in the line. It took 25 minutes.
If there was one line for the whole thing fine. But there were a few lines with a few windows open so why the hell does it take this long?
Because people are idiots.
You had people who didn’t fill out this form or that form when they initially went to a window to mail a package. Of course a form needs to be filled out. But then those same people are asked to just come back to that same cashier, no matter how many people are waiting in a line. I think they should make the people join the line again for their ignorance.

De tout les bureaux de poste de New York, celui de la station Penn Station est le plus grand.
On le trouve juste en face de la sortie de métro et on né voit que lui en sortant. C’est donc là qu’en toute logique je me suis dirigé pour mes achats de timbres.
L’attente est pas plus longue qu’ailleurs et rien à dire sur le service, tout les renseignements demandé m’ont été fourni avec gentilesse (mais celle d’a coté semblait moins commode^^)
Les timbres qui servent à expédier des lettres à l’étranger sont actuellement à 1,10 $.

Das General Post Office ist ein tolles Gebäude und nicht nur für Architektur-​Fans ein hingucker.
Das Gebäude ist auch durch die nähe der Penn Station sehr gut mit der Subway erreichbar. Es liegt sehr Central in Manhattan, in der Nähe des Madison Square Garden’s, Macy’s etc. also sollte es auch jeder auf seiner sightseeing Tour (zu Fuß) einplanen. Hier gibt es natürlich auch sehr viele Fotomotive.
