US Post Office

The nastiest rude mouth ladies work there are the opposite of efficient or helpful, they should be lucky to have a job– that anyone would hire such horrible hateful attitudes ! If it wasn’t for the male tellers who are very nice and helpful I would never step into this toxic environment

Better than most of the US Post Offices I went to

After seeing that my local post office in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn, had recieved 56 1-​star reviews (not a 2, 3, 4 or 5-​star review to be seen!), I decided to try out this one near my workplace instead.
I’m so glad I did! Here are only a few of the many great things about this place
1. Extremely friendly customer service. I always decorate my packages and letters and appreciate it SO much when the people behind the counter try not to cover up too much of it with postal stickers. In my book, this alone gives them an A+. I have only ever worked with Fred, who is very sweet and patient!
2. It reminds me of my small-​town post office because they really seem to care.
3. The inside of the building is clean, organized and ice cold during the hotter months.
4. Lines are not long, and the service is fast.
I will repeat what Joanna R. said: This post office makes going to the post office not-​awful.

Forgot to review this while going through my vacation travels, but yep, thought a post office was worth mentioning.
Reason I rate this so high? Every post office I go to in California (throughout the year, DURING the week, ANY time of day) has a line. Even with the automated machines it doesn’t matter since it may be broken anyway. Lines. Lines. Lines. There will be 8 windows with only 2 operating (3 if you’re lucky), and of course one of them will have that customer mailing about 14 different packages (containing restricted items such as liquids) to 12 different countries and it’s not even Christmas.
This location was across the street, a block or two away from my hotel. Coming here, there was no line, and at least two people available to help me who were friendly and not postal at all. No Newman’s here. It was the most peaceful post office I have ever been in. It was freaking nirvana.
Of course, a month prior, it was probably hell like the rest of the post offices across America, but I didn’t go then. Let me enjoy my USPS moment.

Is bulletproof glass really necessary in Chelsea?
It was fairly empty when I went (3 pm on a Friday) so that’s good. The woman who helped me wasn’t particularly friendly, but it’s a rare post office with nice people.

It’s ridiculous that I’m writing a review for a post office, but I had a horrible customer service experience here a couple days ago. I walked in, followed the sign pointing to where the line to be helped should start. I was the only person waiting to be helped but all the workers were busy with customers. I waited about 5 minutes and another customer came in and proceeded to just walk up to one of the windows without waiting behind me and waited behind the person who was still being helped on the other side of the lobby. Once the customer at the window I had been standing in front of was done, the worker asked for the next person in line so I stepped forward. She then told me that I wasn’t in a line and she wanted to take the man who just walked up to the window because he seemed to be coming from a certain direction of the lobby she felt was more appropriate for the line to start. Meaning she was completely oblivious to my standing there patiently for, at that time, 10 minutes AND that he very obviously came in after me. I told her I had arrived before that man and he was fine with it but when I shook my head in disbelief that she could have not seen me that entire time she told me «don’t you shake your head at me» like I’m a child. I decided to step out of line and just help myself at that point because she obviously has no idea what her job as someone who serves the public is. Why you would give a customer attitude about something so stupid or really anything in general is beyond me. I guess the moral of the story is don’t expect all the workers here to be courteous or pay attention to anything outside of what’s directly in front of them because they don’t know how to handle simple situations like the formation of a line. I ended up turning the «form line here» sign to the appropriate position so no one else had to deal with her incompetency

If all U.S. Post Offices were this good, there’d be no need for businesses like UPS and FedEx. It is large, clean & aesthetically pleasing. It has fast, intelligent and friendly service. This will be my mailing center from now on. Because of the location near the Chelsea market (and the huge downtown Apple store) it’s even worth a trip across town if need be. Many thanks to postal worker Freddy, who made my experience cheerful and worry-​free. Mid-​morning seems the best time to go.

I’ve only dropped off letters here, but they let me carry my small companion dog inside and the line seems to always move relatively quickly. It’s clean, large and near Chelsea Market, so you could always pick up some treats and send them to loved ones nearby!

Breaking News… there actually is a post office in NYC that functions as a post office!
This was my go-​to post office when I worked in the meatpacking district/​chelsea. The lines are never too bad, and the workers are actually educated, competent and helpful.
It’s right across from Chelsea Market!

Anyone who has ever tried to mail something from a post office in New York understands the nirvana of entering an empty one where the workers are actually helpful. I know it is practically unfathomable, but at around 9:45 am on a weekday, this place was completely empty. There were three people behind the glass all willing to help. When I did get the minor assistance I needed on an international shipment, it was as smooth a transaction as possible. I was in and out of there within five minutes, did not have to wait in line and dealt with extremely pleasant USPS staff.
