The worst post office in Queens. very low brain power is the key in working there.

I think most of humanity is on the same page when it comes to the post office: no one particularly enjoys going, but it’s one of those things that needs to happen from time to time, like visiting the dentist or passing through Times Square.
I went to this branch the Saturday before Christmas to express mail a package out of state. Although many of the people waiting in line were cranky, rude, and unpleasant, the rock star employees at this post office were friendly, positive, and kept the line moving. It was the most painless visit to a USPS location I’ve ever experienced.

Received a package opened and empty. No one has answers or can help. Last year I had the same issue with a Kindle that went missing but of course no one knew anything then either. No wonder people hate the post office. This place is terrible and they don’t pick up their phones. if you hate your job that much, go do something else.

Given the frequency of accidents/​uncommon and unacceptable delay that could take place once your items go through this site, –and would that surprise you if I said I don’t even use here more than a few times a year, for I surely know better by now? – , I have to announce that this P.O. station seriously needs the entire USPS’s official investigation, if they are serious about improvement of their services.
As much as I disliked to take a chance, I had to use here out of the desperation from the pressing schedule I had. They surely did not fail to live up to the bad reputation they had already accumulated, and now more than a few packages that I sent out from here are missing. This is quite a record, and statistics, I’d admit.
After going through ‘acceptance and departure’ stages, all the packages disappeared from their radar and now with no trace for weeks by now. I reached the headquarter of the system to get their attention to this lapse – trying to reach the post office was most likely dismissed, as you could imagine – , and those items never seemed to turn up and I am at a loss.
How could this happen, USPS? And most importantly, how long would you let this bad site operate as this?

I buy and sell on Ebay a lot myself. Rod is one the finest government employees I have encountered. Super nice guy and an encyclopedic knowledge when it comes to postal policy and mailing tips.
The office is not perfect, but they are beginning to understand how they need to accommodate people like me who want to be loyal to USPS and also have convenience for our prepay packages. I will not be shy to knock on a door and they are nice and responsive but as of late more proactive.

One thing I always notice is, after one of the clerks accept a package, they always walk away from their window, to drop the package somewhere in the back. When there is a a very long line, I wish they would set the packages to the side, to expedite service. But, I know they get a small pleasure in making people wait.

This is the WORST… Ive had at least 5 packages say they were delivered but never made it to my house. Nobody had an answer for me and i lost money due to the tracking saying that i got them. Always one window open regardless how long the line is. Also got disrespected by a manager who yelled at me because i wasnt happy not getting any answers regarding my loss. Worst post office EVER. And slowest tellers ive ever seen.

I’ve read all the reviews here and have had many of the same things happen to me both shipping and receiving packages. I sell and buy a good amount of stuff on eBay and the lines are typically terrible and there’s usually only one window open. There are maybe two employees who move things along very well and the others could care less. Go during the weekdays in the afternoon if you can. I have encountered many instances of incompetence and rudeness over the years and they have both pilfered and left packages unattended on the sidewalk in front of my house. I have no steps. My neighbor is a lifelong resident and told me that this branch is a re-​training center for bad postal employees they’re deciding whether to fire or not. No clue if that’s accurate but it makes sense. You can’t get fired from a federal job unless you murder your coworkers. Even then there’s an appeal process. He showed me packages of things he ordered that were cut open and items were missing. I have had packages I was expecting just disappear. The letter carriers here are mostly nice and when you get to know them, they will be better about leaving your stuff anywhere they drop it. I sent a gift item to my nieces and nephews in Connecticut a few months ago as I often do, and the package was sent to an identical address in Massachusetts. I never recovered the package and received no compensation to cover my loss. I reported the incident to the USPS and followed up with a written complaint and a phone interview and still received nothing. My advice is to insure everything and get tracking or use Fedex or UPS. I don’t know if this was the fault of that branch or that of the USPS in general. Overall, I don’t think this branch is any worse than the rest of them, and this is why the USPS loses three dollars to every two they make, yet still flourish with the support of your tax dollars. I hope they read this, there’s not one good review of them or the USPS on this entire page. Privatize this mess already. Get rid of these boobs, scalawags and layabouts, and run it like a real business. I would prefer to use USPS for all my mail if the problems were fixed.

Zero stars for those fine folks in blue at my local post office. Computers were down and that can happen in most places of business, but I doubt a technician was dispatched and In route.
Behind the scribble of signs a third grader would shake his head at was our ultra rude federal employees having a good olé time, yacking it up about utter nonsense, all the while at the ready with a numberv of dismissive responses.
I just needed one stamp and before I was able to fully deliver my question, in came a «go to the main branch» reply like a howitzer.
Rude, uneducated and classless is no way to go through life but on the lower federal level apparently it is rewarded with decent pay and benefits.
As a quick example to illustrate an utter lack of business know how, the post office has been delivering mail for how long? About150 years? Yet they still loose money every year and sell off properties at an alarming rate. USPS can’t even deliver the mail and make a profit after 150 years of trying and yet somehow remain in business.
The private sector would have weeded these two incompitents out within a week or two.
Way to go USPS, you never cease to amaze me on so many levels.

The lousiest service ever! They closed three minutes before their actual closing time. All I wanted to do was drop my prepaid package and pick up my POI. Box mai. Those two things take exactly one minute. The tall black woman with glasses came out with a shorter white man two minutes later to open the door and take some other woman’s mail. When I asked if he could at least take my package it was already paid for, the woman interrupted and stated that she cannot take it now, they are closed. That I have to come back Monday.
If you were open until you’re supposed to be, I would not have to come Monday.

I am very unhappy with this particular post office. I moved to Middle Village from Ridgewood about three years ago. During this time three of my packages disappeared without a trace. When this happened the first time, I just tried to solve the problem with the shipper and did not notify the post office. The second package got lost several months ago. I called the post office and I spoke with the manager. He told me that the package was delivered and that was that. He said they can’t do anything else about it. About a month ago, a third package disappeared. I didn’t even bother to report it because the post office is totally uncooperative and does nothing to try to solve a problem. I am upset because I work very hard for my money to just waste it like this.
None of my packages delivered by USPS disappeared when I lived in Ridgewood, or anywhere else for that matter. Also, only packages delivered by the Middle Village post office disappeared and not those delivered by either UPS or FedEx. Therefore, this is clearly a problem with this particular post office. I am glad that I am moving and that I don’t have to put up anymore with disappearing packages and the unprofessional attitude of those in charge.
