Underbridge Dog Run

I haven’t been to many dog parks to compare but I like this dog park and most of the people that go here. I have a pit bull who is overly friendly (and other dogs take it the wrong way sometimes). I like that this park has a larger area and a smaller area. Normally all the dogs are in the big one which allows me to bring my dog into the small one so she can run back and forth with other dogs along the fence.
One thing that could improve is how clean the place is. I feel the place could be cleaner and a water fountain for dogs would be great. Also, the fences could be patched up a bit as there are holes that smaller dogs could possibly fit thru.
I live not too far away and looking to move closer just for the convenience of this park.
To the comment below about the great dane and white pit bull… I know the owner and he’s very friendly. He never goes too far from the park and if he goes away it’s only to get water since the park doesn’t provide it. Also, the dogs rarely bark (and as I mentioned, I have a pitbull who is overly friendly and wants to play with every dog and those two dogs never bark at her). Both dogs are also very disciplined.

I like this dog run because there are so many friendly dogs here! I have a little 8 month old cocker spaniel and she just absolutely loved it here. Two things to watch out for: the fence on the south side in the middle needs a bit of fixing at the bottom because there is a small opening that allows some very small dogs to escape, so watch out for that. Also, there is a pot there that has water but beware! The water may be stagnant and have bacteria, so either bring your own bowl and water or bring a bottle to replace the pot water. Either than that let your dogs loose here and have a great time!

I really hate my dog run, the people here are the animals. Learn how to control your dog for god sake! Small dog owners beware!

As each dog park day passes and I think more abou all of the The Undetbridge’s positive attributes. Upon returning home today (2÷1÷15) I knew I must post an update to point out a few additional points of interest.
Five, structurally intact, well placed wooden benches allow for panoramic views or just a spot to plop down for a moment.
The secondary and smaller fenced in section provides small dog owners the option if the full size portion had large breeds playing roughly.
The street light on the landing of the stairwell of the bridge allows significant illumination inside the park.
The double gates is exactly what all dog runs should incorporate into their infrastructure. Allowing the dog owner to leash or unleash in this quite ample staging area.
Eight foot high fences insulates any dog from harm that may occur from the outskirts and keep potential riff raff on the outside.
Great to meet Cloe and Bandit as they and their owners were the first pups and folks I was fortunate enough to meet.

I’ve been there today just to know the place and decide if I can take my reactive dog to do some socialization (I left my dog at home). When I was approaching the place I tought «wow this is a huge place, perfect!». But then I saw a pit bull and a great dane in the area for small dogs and the worst: without anyone, no owner, no person inside with them! They were anxious, running and barking at people in the sidewalk. This is not a place to let your dog alone. It was clear that no one else could use the park…

I’ve been here a couple of times already with my two dogs, one shepherd hound mix and one westie and each time they’ve both gotten good runs in and come home tired. Like Bill M. mentioned this dog park is huge… I would say MASSIVE as far as dog parks go. This is the biggest one I’ve seen in NYC. My westie, Brian loves to run and this dog park gives him lots of space to do it. It’s located off the beaten path right next to the GCP and under the overhead walkway linking the street to Flushing Meadow Corona Park. It is a bit noisy next to the highway but it’s also nice that it’s away from where lots of people frequently pass by. I don’t feel so bad when my dogs park because there isn’t much around and the cars drown out the barking. The ground of the dog park is part grass, part wood chips and part dirt. Be prepared for your dogs to get dirty! There are a couple of benches on the border of the park. No water, no bags. There’s also a smaller area for small dogs or if you want to separate your dog.
We take our dogs here because in the area, this is the better dog (in comparison to the dog park in Forest Park which is WAYYYY dirtier!).
If you’re looking for lots of doggy socialization, this isn’t the park for your pup either. Not a lot of dogs frequent this dog park. We go more so our dogs can run around. We also bring our own balls because there is a lot of space for them to play fetch. There aren’t any rules listed aside from this one graffiti sign that says «Fill the hole your dog makes» which no one seems to follow.

Decent size dog run for Queens that needs some TLC.
Things it has going for it:
— Separate large and small dog runs
— Large dog run is a good size
— Plenty of shade
Things it has going against it:
— No dedicated dog drinking fountain
— No poop bags provided
— Dirt ground cover
— Limited seating
— Noisy, GCP across the street
— Inadequate gates and entry area
Add dedicated dog fountains, poop bags and more seating and this is a 3 star dog run. Also add better fencing, gates, entry area and ground cover and this can be a 4 star dog run.
One attribute that stands out for this run is its size. Its one of the bigger dog runs in Queens. It has the one thing that can make this a better run … it is large, think 4 – 6 city lots. Most in Queens don’t have this runs size. Make some changes and this could be one of the better dog runs in Queens
