I was excited to be moving to New York recently, but I was dreading the apartment hunting process after reading about the tactics many realtors in NY use to bait clients. I also read that it’s harder to rent an apartment in New York, than it is to buy one. Finally, a relative had a terrible experience with a realtor who didn’t return calls, showed pet free apartments to pet people, and basically didn’t help them at all.
So, it being my first rodeo and feeling completely naïve about the NY market, I decided I absolutely needed to use a good broker. I read about TripleMint in an article on best apartment sites for NYC. I chose to work with them for 3 reasons:
1. It’s a full service real estate brokerage with technology that cuts through all the duplicate bookings and «no longer available» postings in NY, and the site is full of great information about location, distance from metro, etc… on listed apartments.
2. The agents are salaried and compensated based on service and customer satisfaction rather than commission. Being a service freak on a budget, this appealed to me.
3. Of all the sites I signed up on (and I signed up on a number of them) they were the only ones to actually call me and offer to connect me with a broker. I mean, really. Who does that?
Chris Daish was awesome to work with. I gave him the qualities + location I was looking for in an apartment. I bookmarked my favorites on the TripleMint site so he could get an idea of what I liked. When I arrived in town we met up and he had planned a full day of apartment viewings based on my requirements. He showed me online listings along with manager-​directs that weren’t publicly posted.
At the end of the day, he recommended I check out a place that wasn’t in my target area, but was a great building and below market that he thought I should see. Of course, it was spot on perfect, under budget, and I applied immediately.
TripleMint also took care of all the cashiers check cutting I needed to get signed off — especially helpful if you’re not from around here, and don’t have a local branch of your bank nearby. Basically, they took all of the anticipated stress out of the process. And I have an amazing apartment that totally exceeded my expectations and that I love waking up in every day. I am so lucky I found TripleMint and got to work with Chris!
I highly recommend TripleMint to anyone looking for that perfect spot in New York City.

I informed Suiteys beforehand regards all requirements I had to my future apartment and my budget, yet 10 out of 9 places they have «found» for me were absolutely horrendous and unliveable. The only place which I liked was a way over my budget :(
To cut a long story short, I ended up getting a great place with other agency (paid 0 broker fee, btw). At Suiteys they charge either 10% or 15% of annual fee depending on apartment.
They do have a great customer service and seem to be really nice, but what matters is the result, right? They did not find a good apartment for me…

My experience with Suitey (even the people) were the same as in Emily P’s review. But I will give them a 5 star review even though I also didn’t ultimately rent from them. Josh showed me 3 places the 1^st Saturday (I think) that I was available, and I almost closed on a place near the water on the upper east side. However, as soon as the next morning came along, a traditional broker from Keller Williams insisted that I go see a couple places from their catalog and I just happened to find a better match. Despite the fact that they charged a full 15%, I just couldn’t pass on that (my current) apartment. It’s a weird world sometimes, and I much rather would have preferred to close with Suitey (TripleMint) — they just seemed like more down-​to-​earth people.

Don’t waste your time with other brokers when searching for an apartment in NYC… use TRIPLE MINT, and specifically Hugo Monteiro! I was making the move from LA to Manhattan for a new job so I reached out to several brokers in the city. Triple Mint really stood apart from the rest — I submitted my search parameters to them on a Saturday night and by Sunday morning I had a phone call from Triple Mint introducing me to Hugo! Talk about service! I’m still waiting to hear back from some other brokers…
I only had a few days to look for an apartment while visiting over the weekend so it was critical that the broker was organized, arranged several appointments to see apartments and that I found a place. After several conversations with Hugo in the days leading up to my trip, Hugo and I spent the afternoon looking at apartments in various neighborhoods of the city. I really felt like Hugo did a great job listening to what I wanted and showing me several options within the areas I wanted to live and my price range. He was never pushy during this process and ALWAYS very responsive and professional.
I can’t recommend Triple Mint enough, especially when you are making the move from out of state and are short on time. Triple Mint and Hugo made the apartment hunt and move so much easier and less stressful.

I used TripleMint to find my first apartment and I could not recommend their services enough.
My agent, Joshua Juneau, went above and beyond to make the process as easy and stress-​free as possible. This was my first apartment (ever) and I was making the move from Arkansas to New York — needless to say I was really nervous. He listened to everything I had to say, was incredibly helpful, and very professional. He went above and beyond and I recommend him to anyone who is looking for a place in New York!

Long version:
The boyfriend and I are in the middle of moving from Westchester to NYC as I transition to a new job in the city. Triplemint, and our broker Eric Prigot specifically, made the experience as painless as it could possibly be. I have heard just about every kind of horror story about finding apartments in the city, so I was not looking forward to the process. A friend who had used Triplemint for her move recommended them and when I reached out to them, we were set up with Eric.
Eric is the absolute best. My boyfriend and I were indecisive about whether to move to Brooklyn or Manhattan, and had a few specific must-​haves. Eric showed us great apartments in both places and found us basically exactly what we wanted, in a neighborhood we love, within our budget. He spent an entire day walking around with us, showing us not only the apartments but also great places to eat and made sure we knew where grocery stores and other important conveniences were located. After a long day of walking around with us, Eric spent the evening putting together and submitting our application for an apartment we loved, the last one we had seen that day. The next day our application was accepted, and two days after hunting, we had a signed lease.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience with TripleMint and Eric. Would absolutely recommend them.

Chris Lee went above and beyond to help me find an apartment in NYC, and I absolutely love the place. I’ve been here for 5ish months and my friends are all shocked when I tell them what I pay considering the space and location. Chris was incredibly attentive to my demands and was available around the clock. Seriously. I called him on a Saturday at 11pm and then the following Sunday at 8am, and he was there to answer my questions.
Would highly recommend this company, especially Chris, if you’re in the market for a new apartment. This process can be a real doozy.

My girlfriend and I were both first time renters in Manhattan. We were overwhelmed by the process to say the least! We decided to go with a broker to help navigate the waters. After reading reviews on Unilocal,we went with Triplemint.
We went on the website and favorited a few apartments and then reached out to Triplemint. Within the day we were matched up with Michael Bethoney. Michael was an AMAZING broker and walked us through the entire process. He met us on a Saturday morning with a full schedule of apartments to look at that met our budget and our location constraints. Showed us a few places just outside of the range and location so we could get a feel for what we could get for our money.
Michael was incredibly professional and knowledgeable throughout the entire process. We were able to find an amazing apartment in a co-​op building. From there, Michael was with us every step of the way during the (VERY LONG) co-​op board approval process. The process would have been SIGNIFICANTLY more complicated and drawn out without his help.
Bottom line, paying a brokers fee is never fun… but if you’re a bit green around the gills in NYC real estate and you’re going to use a broker anyways, you may as well use one that will actually treat you well and be an assistance to the process as opposed to a hindrance. My girlfriend and I would highly highly recommend to anyone wanting to go the broker route when apartment hunting in NYC

I worked with Triplemint’s Chris Lee to find a one bedroom apartment with my girlfriend. The experience was fantastic. Triplemint is a great option for those looking for a broker in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
In particular I want to give a lot of credit to Eric Prigot, who worked with me to try and find a place in Upper East Side. He was that rare combination of professional, friendly, and approachable that can be hard to find in any line of work, but I think is especially important for a broker. Eric never misled me about details of apartments, he was quick to offer his viewpoint on places, and was not pushy about any of the places I was shown. In general, he will let you drive the process, but while giving plenty of helpful suggestions. He’ll also takes extra time to point out places to eat, drink, shop and is super knowledgeable about the UES. Great guy.
About triplemint in general, the process is very streamlined. A customer service representative will figure out your needs (what area you are looking at, price range, amenities, etc.) and match you up with a broker who specializes in what you require. You can then search the triplemint listings on your computer and save interesting places, which your broker will be able to see. The broker then arranges viewings for you based on what you have «favorited» and what you have told them you are looking for. Simple and effective, this will allow you to see a lot of listings in a pretty short amount of time. I viewed about 5 apartments in a couple of hours.
Lastly, be upfront with them about your situation. They will work with you if you have less than perfect income, credit, work history (most people have some issue).

Ever notice how television shows so comically misrepresent the proportions of apartments in New York?
To the point where you, savvy media critic that you are, laugh derisively with every wide shot?
We just signed a lease on that apartment. An apartment well within our modest price range.
And it’s all thanks to Hugo Monteiro, who worked hard and really listened to what we wanted.
We looked at quite a few places, and he was always gracious and professional — despite having to book viewing appointments around our appalling schedules.
Hugo is all-​around good people, has great knowledge of the city and its rental inventory, and was an absolute pleasure to work with.

A friend recommended Triplemint to me after she had a positive experience. This was my first time using a broker for apartment hunting and I got to work with Jen (or rather she had to deal with my hectic schedule). From the beginning, she very patiently answered all my questions about the process (why should we go through a broker?, breakdown/​reasons of fees, walkthrough explanation of the website, etc). She was extremely friendly and very professional (unlike nyc broker horror stories I’ve heard/​read about). When we went to view apartments, everything was very organized and she followed up with me.
TripleMint would be the broker to go with — I liked their transparency. amazing customer service and communication. The website is very good as well to look at listings.

I was so lucky to find Chris Daish at Suitey (now TripleMint) when an unexpected change in plans left me with less than two weeks to find a new apartment. I’ve worked with enough NYC brokers in the past to know that it can be a challenge to find one that really listens to you, let alone remembers to call you back. Chris was exceptional in every way.
He came to our first meeting (an absolutely frigid Saturday morning in February!) prepared with several great apartments that fit my budget in the location I wanted. I really appreciated his honesty about everything, including broker fees, throughout the process. In one day, Chris found me two great apartments that I loved. The hardest part of the whole process was choosing which one I wanted more!
And the great customer service did not end there. Chris was helpful and responsive during the application process as well as the lease signing. I truly felt like he was looking out for my best interests. He even checked in with me after I moved, and has continued to be responsive when questions come up. I would (and have!) recommend TripleMint, and Chris, to anyone looking to move. He made what could have been a very painful process super easy!

I definitely understand why Suitey has such good reviews — they are truly attuned to excellent customer service in an industry that often puts the prospective renter/​buyer last.
I must say — before anything else — that during my apartment search with Suitey, from start to finish, I was treated with kindness, courtesy, and professionalism by Emily Seils, Taylor Travaglione, and most notably, Josh Juneau. If you are looking to pair with Suitey for a rental search, I recommend requesting Josh — working with him was truly pleasant.
Though Suitey is excellent in terms of customer service, I did not wind up signing a lease with the help of either Taylor or Josh. Taylor, in fact, showed me and encouraged me to apply for an apartment in a building that is known to reject students (I am a full-​time student). The apartment was beautiful, but of course, my application was rejected — and I wasted valuable search time during that process. Not only was that experience frustrating, I never heard from Taylor again.
I was immediately transferred to Josh Juneau without explanation, who showed me another crop of apartments [mostly] meeting my search criteria. These apartments were all fine — and spending time with Josh, as I mentioned above, was an absolute pleasure. However, neither Taylor nor Josh showed me the beautiful, within-​price-​range, great-​neighborhood apartment that finally chose to rent. I found my new apartment on StreetEasy​.Com, scheduled a viewing with that realtor, and applied/​was approved completely independently of Suitey. This listing had been available on the OLR as well.
To Josh and Taylor’s credit, I was also searching with a realtor at Douglas Elliman who failed to show me my new apartment as well. The Douglas Elliman realtor was seriously lacking in customer service/​general politeness, so I much preferred working with Suitey during this search — even though they didn’t ultimately secure my final decision.
I left my experience with Suitey essentially wondering why my ‘perfect apartment’ hadn’t been on their list for me at all, but wanting to stay in contact with Josh as friends. It’s a very odd feeling.

In an industry filled with bait and switch, seedy and shady dealings, Chris Daish and Suitey is an absolutely diamond in the rough. I’ve worked with the incredible Tyler Whitman for a previous apartment, and this time I got to work with the knowledgeable, even-​keeled and professional Chris Daish.
It took us exactly sixty minutes (2^nd apart we saw) on our first outing to find my dream apartment, mostly because Chris understood my priorities, requirements and vision, and it resulted in seeing the exact type of units I was thinking about.
It was a pleasure to work with Chris, and Tyler and the whole Suitey team, and their benefits are even better than their customer service and real estate IQ.
I’d never look elsewhere if I were you — forget StreetEasy, and don’t even mention CraigsList. Suitey is surely the way to go.

We arrived here in NYC with 4 weeks to find an apartment and no knowledge whatsoever of the system by which to find one other than reading some horror stories about brokers on the net.
After looking around town a fair bit we started to gain an understanding on just how difficult is was going to be to find the right thing for us. Suitey found (almost) the perfect thing — but unless u have a crap load of money here u can’t get everything right?
Suitey was great from start to finish — we got hooked up with a fellow aussie broker (Chris) who understood our requirements immediately. The second place he showed us was bang on the money and a few days later we were signing the lease.

My family and I are moving from Boston to NYC with a tight timeline. I spent months doing research and went to the city prepared for the horrible experience that is Manhattan apartment shopping.
After lining up a few showings on my own, we decided to see if using a broker would get us more housing possibilities. I created with Suitey and was paired with Phil Reynolds. Unlike what you’ve come to expect from shady, sale-​hungry apartment brokers, Phil was quick, responsive and eager to please. He was transparent about everything he was doing for us and I appreciated his honest answers to my questions.
