What a great store! Japanese Animé, sci-​fi, Star Trek, Star Wars… New toys, Vintage Toys, collectibles. I mean, they have everything here! Geek heaven. They sell Funko stuff downstairs, in the basement.

These guys are scalpels who buy up the rare funko pops at nearby stores and then resell them at scalper prices in their store. Don’t let them take advantage of you! They are no different than eBay or Craigslist scalpers — they just have their own store. BEWARE

Fun times looking at rare limited edition collectible toys. Vinyl figures and more traditional comic characters to see. My kid loves it and it is a special treat to take him here. Wide spectrum of prices, something for everyone. The place is packed with a wide selection of products and I was told there’s a basement level too. I have not ventured down the steps however. This is really the only place of it’s kind in the East Village. I advise you stop in, since you never know what magic awaits you at Toy Tokyo! Note it’s a tight space so tread carefully near the glass enclosures. Especially when it’s crowded; and it often is! Have fun.

Cashier I ran into was a nuisance. Won’t be coming back unless to return 40 $ worth of stuff just cause he wanted to be annoying.

I have been a loyal customer of this store for six plus years and my mans probably even longer. I tend to love getting my friends unique items and they always have a variety to choose from. The stars are for the store itself. It’s really amazing if you’re a kid stuck in an adult body. I’ll agree that the employees tend to leave you alone and look around and most definitely are helpful when you do speak with them. But most recently at the new location they have hired this young black kid who is so full of himself. I’ve gone there three times this past year, he must be new as I have never seen him before this year and I think today was the day that I had enough of his attitude. I was standing waiting to pay for five minutes until another employee saw me waiting because he was so busy on his phone and was even bothered by the fact that he was told to ring me up. In past situations when I have spoken to him he thinks he’s too cool and I don’t know if he’s being rude, condescending or sarcastic. It’s annoying and kind of a turn off. If you dislike people or helping them maybe customer service isn’t for you. You work at a toy store you should be way more pleasant. Obviously I’ll still come here, but today was just ew.

This place is worth going to. They have a wide selection of animé merchandise. I especially liked the fact they have a My Neighbor Totoro section. Even if you’re not going to buy anything, just going there to look at the things that they’re selling is worth it.

First and foremost this store is ok… upstairs they have a lot of Japanese collectable toys, very unique and different downstairs they have a decent amount of pop vinly just a lot of the same ones kind of over priced. The really good pop vinyls they have they don’t sell. Their customer service is very bad. My son and I walked in to the store upstairs and downstairs and weren’t greeted at all. No one helped us nor paid us any mind. Felt like I was bothering these guys when I went in.

The boo and I have a mild form of addiction called Funko Pops. Toy Tokyo feeds our need big time! You can find lots of vintage and retro toys here but beware, they are pricey. The basement is dedicated to all things Funko and if the Asian manager lady is there, she’ll probably try to upsell you while you make a purchase lol.
This place is worth checking out if you’re an avid collector of the genre.

Great selection of Funko products! They also get some exclusive stuff too. The store is small but the staff is really friendly and knows there stuff.

Lapin and I visit here at least every other month. They have a decent selection and the downstairs is dedicated to Pop! Lapin usually visits here to see which Kid Robot products they have while I look for all the NBC merch. The staff is friendly but tend to leave you alone. If you can’t find what you are looking for, ask — the store looks packed and disorganized but the staff can help you locate any specific items.

Checking out Toy Tokyo is a lot like visiting my friend Emmett’s house. There are neatly arranged shelves full of action figures and pop culture toys everywhere. Except here, everything is for sale. You can get lost in the shop for hours, and tho there are thousands of things to look at, nothing feels crowded. They didn’t have a huge selection of any one given toy line, but overall there is a huge variety of collectibles to choose from. The prices vary, but are slightly on the high side for the post-​retail collectors’ after-​market, but it’s nice to have things in one place that you can see in-​person, touch and examine without running the risk of getting something damaged or misrepresented from online/​eBay shopping.
Employees are friendly and clearly huge collector nerds too, so it was neat to see a business run by folks who love what they sell.
Downstairs was full of those Funko POP collector figures. I’m not at all into those, so the appeal was lost on me. But overall this was definitely a cool shop to visit and explore.

A lot happening in this shop. You walk in and it can be a bit overwhelming. If you need help looking for something specific, you can ask someone working there because they know where everything is.
They sell all types of goods from different cartoons, movies, shows, etc. Even if you are not looking to buy anything, it does not hurt just to check out the place!

This place used to be great, a few years ago I would have given it a 5 star, but today I’m being generous giving it a 3 star. The selection has seriously gone down in this store and the people that work there don’t even try to help you. If you want funko pop then you’ll be heaven otherwise forget about it. It’s fun to go look at all the different items, super old to current stuff all mixed together. I don’t think you should call yourself Toy Tokyo if you have no items that are from Japan. They used to have a big selection of animé figures but not anymore.

Well worth checking out if you love toys of all sorts! Action figures, rare collectibles and a basement full of Funko pop.

This is a neat little toy shop that I enjoy walking through every so often, just to get an idea of what the hipsters are putting their disposable income towards. In all seriousness, there are a lot of fun diversions that you can find here, including dolls from the Breaking Bad collection and action figures of prominent politicians looking even more monstrous than usual. Although some of the choices strike me as odd (are there really that many people who want to own a gigantic Evel Knievel doll?), others seem like the sort of thing I would purchase if I had some cash to burn.
While it’s disappointing that there aren’t more items that young kids would enjoy, I suppose that’s to be expected at this point in the arc of civilization. Overall, Toy Tokyo is definitely a business you want to visit, if only to stroll through the aisles of odd toys and pop cultural detritus.

Always a good browse that brings me back to my childhood. Excellent shop if you need a gift particularly if the person you are purchasing if fanatical about a particular cartoon or pop culture character.

Le paradis du geek ! Il y a toutes les babioles possibles et imaginables (et ô combien inutiles, donc ô combien indispensables). Pokemons, Zelda, Star Wars, Final Fantasy, Comics, Mangas, tout y est. Il y a un choix impressionnant de figurines, et si vous êtes prêts à y mettre le prix, y’a moyen d’acheter des choses assez exceptionnelles.
Il y a un étage au sous-​sol dans lequel on trouve plein de «pop figurines». Ca vaut le détour.
Bön par contre le gars à la caisse (je né sais pas si c’était le gérant) n’était vraiment pas aimable.

Toy Tokyo es el lugar de los sueños, ese paraíso en La Tierra al que todos soñamos conocer y no sabemos que existe hasta ese momento mágico en el que uno entra a este magistral local.
En pleno East Village se encuentra este hermoso lugar lleno de juguetes de las más reconocidas series animadas, películas o todo lo que se les ocurra relacionado a la cultura pop, ya sea de origen oriental u occidental. En Toy Tokyo van a encontrar action figures, peluches, accesorios y todo lo que se les ocurra. Desde Totoro, Dragon Ball Z, Evangelion, ET, TMNT, Masters of the Universe y miles de tesoros más con los que se pueden llegar a sorprender.
Pero hay algo que merece un párrafo aparte y es el sótano de este lugar que vendría a estar entre las siete maravillas del mundo. Sí, alrededor de un hermoso Mazinger en tamaño gigante se encuentra un universo de Funkos, que para los que son fans de estos muñequitos como lo soy yo van a enloquecer de alegría al ver que tiene casi todos los modelos de todas las líneas, realmente una locura, desde los más clásicos hasta ediciones especiales y todo lo que se les ocurra. Es como agua en el desierto. Ver tal lugar provoca tanta alegría que te dan ganas de llevarte el piso entero a tu casa, lástima que las valijas y hasta los aviones serían insuficientes. Grrrr.
En fin, vayan a Toy Tokyo y sean felices, ya con ir a este local el viaje a New York ya vale la pena, onda que este sitio es más groso que la Estatua de la Libretad, el Empire State o cualquier monumento o edificio del mundo. Acá hay magia y por sobre todas las cosas, un lugar único en la galaxia al que cada día estoy agradecido de haber podido conocer.

Hier kommen Manga/​Animefans und teilweise Geeks voll auf ihre Kosten. Von simplen Spielfiguren bis seltene Sammlerobjekte ist für viele etwas dabei.
Das Rumstöbern macht Spaß und ich habe einige Mitbringsel für Freunde erstehen können. Die Preislage ist grade noch moderat, was bei dem speziellen Sortiment aber in Ordnung geht.

The selection is somewhat poor. Yes they have the classics like TMNT, Mortal Kombat, GI Joe, etc but the selection and quantity are poor.
The overall cleanliness is average. There are dust which may cause allergic reactions (happened to Kenny C.)
I prefer St. Marks Comic’s selection over Toy Tokyo.

Lots of vintage and classic toys.
A lot of Japanese and american toys.
Good place to bring both kids and adults.
I wished I was a kid again.
