Think Coffee

Nice enough place to study which makes sense since it’s so close to NYU. The bagels are kinda meh compared to many of the other city’s offerings. I wish there were outlets to match the seats.

I went here to get a hot milk chocolate drink which tasted pretty good but nothing special whatsoever. Also, the service is not very personable. I understand that they want to take your order quickly but if I’m in a café, I expect it to have some warmth on all fronts: ambiance, the drink and customer service. Nonetheless if you want some decent coffee, come here but this place is nothing extraordinary (if that’s what you’re expecting).

I am in love with this café, and I do not write Unilocal reviews. However, this place deserves so much recognition. The chai tea lattes and mocha beverages are delicious! As are their lemon squares and parfaits. As a plus, I have to say the people here are so incredibly kind, sweet, and overall wonderful. There’s a multitude of outlets, the wifi is always on point, open late, and the ethos of the company is beautiful (they are fair trade and compost everything). It’s the perfect place to study, catch up with a friend, or just read a great book :)

This Think is a huge destination for Korean tourists
and handles the seemingly incessant rush well. Sit across the street outside.

For me, the whole experience of getting coffee is just as important as the coffee served in the establishment.
I have tried over and over again to like this place, but sadly it always comes down to the attitude of the staff in there. I think they must have all trained at the same place.
In general, staff are unfriendly, pretty unresponsive and slow to provide great service. Either they themselves are yawning or texting on their phones and the last time I asked about gluten free pastries, it seemed a real effort to get a helpful response as to what was offered. What I did end up buying from the cabinet was days old; dry and pretty inedible.
From now on I’m just going to walk the slightly extra distance to La Colombe on Lafayette where the coffee in my opinion is much better, and additionally the service much more professional; an all round more pleasurable experience.

Sunday night 7:58 PM. The barista (a short girl with glasses) didn’t bothered to answer to my «hello», or reply to my «thank you»…

I couldn’t help but wonder: those people like her know that there are 9.3 million unemployed in USA?

Great coffee but is a little on the expensive side. But that’s what you should expect in the SoHo area. Showed up with less than an hour before closing. The crew was still very friendly and played really good music. I did not feel rushed to leave or anything. The place offered free Wi-​Fi, unlike the hotel I was staying at (The Trump *frown*). Tried the Spanish coffee and it was great and presented very well!

Think is great when you’re looking for a place to study that’s semi-​off-​campus. That being said, it can get REALLY crowded during exams when students are cramming and the lines for coffee and breakfast have rush periods right before ¹¹⁄₁₂ classes. It’s somewhat expensive, and the drip coffee/​cold brew isn’t the greatest, but the espresso is mad decent. I would recommend their iced lattes, with a grilled cheese if you’re feeling indulgent.
Also, the free wifi is a GODSEND.

I was in the area, and was looking for one thing – a coffee shop that had almond milk. So, when I walked into Think Coffee, and I noticed that it met my requirement, I took the liberty of ordering a small almond milk cappuccino.
For $ 4.60, the price was… well, it’s New York City. But the cashier was extremely friendly, and I was eager to try their concoction.
I waited a couple of minutes for my drink (typical for a coffee shop). It was small – I’m pretty sure it was just 8 ounces – but it was beautiful and simply AMAZING! Between the strong espresso and the frothed almond milk, it truly exceeded my expectations (which were high)!
I didn’t sit down or order anything to eat – although I noticed they serve baked goods and sandwiches, which seem to be popular. They also serve beer and wine later in the day, if you’re looking to unwind at a café.
With boutique coffee shops all around the area, it might be tempting to try another place. But… I just don’t think I’ll bother because Think is WAY TOO GOOD, and sure to become addicting very soon!

I like this place. I’ve been here a few times already and it’s a good working atmosphere. The coffee is consistent and the prices are reasonable. My go-​to is usually the drip coffee.
The weekends tend to be a bit hectic, especially on a Sunday, with everyone in study mode. Keep that in mind if you’re thinking of finding quick seating or a table. You may have to wait…

It’s a good place for hanging out with your friends or doing work. Their wifi is great and the restrooms are pretty clean.
Also, I love their Café au Lait!

Spanish latte was strong & smooth (large= 4 shots), but I did add some simple syrup to it. It wasn’t sweet enough for me. The caramel pecan square was amazing– very similar to pecan pie, but so much better. Highly recommend it.
It’s busy, but the line moves quickly & the barista are quick. Seating can be hard to find since students like to set up camp.
Conveniently located right next to the NYU school of business.

Probably one of the best spots so far studying in NYC.
They have a huge room in the back with lots of table. Free wifi and good coffee.
I really like this certain location because it’s so close to Washington Square Park.
It does get a crowded and a bit difficult to find seating after noonish though.

Ordered a small iced green tea which tasted like watery burnt tea. Yes I know a lot about teas and Jasmine green is very delicate. I know why it tasted so awful, the workers don’t care. No passion at all.
The man that took my order was rude and annoyed at a simple question. Like get over yourself!!!
I also got an espresso. It wasn’t good nor bad but the volume of it was too much. Looked like about 2 ½ oz when it should be no more than 2oz (even 1 ½)
A waste of time and money. Yet again.

I’ve been to this Think location twice now. It is definitely my first choice of the three in the area. It’s spacious AND there’s free wifi (the password is written up on the blackboard amongst the drink menu).
There’s also tons of different types of seating; whether you are the bar stool kind of person, or the chaise lounge chair type, or just the hard wooden Ikea chair type. There’s also plenty of seating available both at the front and the back of the café.
Unfortunately, I find the café a bit stuffy. It also smells less of coffee and more of grease (like an under-​ventilated fast food restaurant). Stay too long and you will smell like you just took a bath in a tub of grease.

Grab a Spanish latte and chill on the couches in the back, or on the armchair at the front window. Try the grilled cheese before you head out.

This is probably one of my go-​to study spots when I’m downtown. Coffee is pretty good, I like their Spanish Latte. A huge plus for me is when a coffee place provides simple syrup (never made sense for a coffee place to not have syrup). So Think Coffee — you’ve earned my respect ;)
I prefer Think Coffee over places like The Bean. It’s your basic coffeehouse with wifi, and a few outlets in the back (more in the front for phone charging). A lot of people come here just to study on their laptop/​read/​write/​socialize/​and play board games (i’m looking at you, NYU students!). Music is usually low so people can study and/​or hear each other talk. It can get crowded during peak hours but it gets emptier later in the evening. Lighting is bright, and not dark at all! Good for reading.
Only downside is that they’re not very reliable. How unfortunate! Always says they close at midnight but they’ve closed early at 11PM or 11:30PM, with a 15-​minute «We will be closing soon!» warning. I’ve also encountered one time when they were closed on a random middle of the day with no notification of any sort, just a sign on the door. Their website says 11PM, the door says 12AM, Unilocal says 12AM. Which closing time is it?! Would be helpful to know these things when I plan to have something submitted by 12AM!
Overall:
— Good service
— Free Wifi
— Decent Coffee & food
— Outlets here and there
— Good amount of seating, but does get filled during peak hours
Tips:
–Outlets (from what I remember): Front seating area has TONS (but it’s where a lot of people pit stop & charge their phones). In the back room along the wall, and in the corners are a few outlets. There may be ONE working outlet on the floor in the middle of the room. No outlets in the back behind the couch or in the booth area next to the bathroom. 1 outlet in the corner where the high-​top tables are. I heard there’s outlets along the bar/​food area but I never really sat there.
— If you stay til closing & they have sandwiches left over, they’ll give it out for free :)) Yay for not wasting food!
— Watch out for closing times

Enjoy sitting here to read or write. I dont find students distracting. They add to the ambience and this café is in NYU area so students are in the package. Decent coffee and I particularly like their chai lattel for a change.

Pros: Loads of space, decent food, wifi, quite a few outlets, will let customers stay for hours, nice seating area near the windows, supports local non-​profits, service in the morning/​daytime is fine.
Cons: Bathrooms smell, whole place looks in need of more cleaning, service in the evening is often hostile, e.g. unreasonable delays, ignoring customers, or (from about three hours before closing!) playing horrible music really loudly.
For me, it’s a four in the mornings and daytime, when it’s a good place for either a quick coffee or an extended work session, but a one or two in the evenings.

The bathrooms have since been remodeled, and in particular the doors now remain ‘flush in their frame’ (as mentioned in the previous review) even when they’re unlocked. So, it’s necessary to push the door a bit to see if it catches the lock or not.
Just wanted to set the record straight.

A great warm place to escape the cold and have a light snack or a cup of coffee. I got what was on the house and it wasn’t bad. It didn’t blow me away by any means, but what did blow me away was the environment. From the outside it looks like a normal coffee shop, however when you walk in the place is huge. There is lots of seating, so even if the place is full you don’t have to wait long to find a seat. There is free wifi that never cut out the entire time I was there and outlets everywhere. Music was quiet and the general atmosphere was simple and serene. It’s open late, so it’s a perfect place to go if you need to get a lot of work done. There are two bathrooms in the establishment, so it’s never a long wait. The staff was friendly and I enjoyed my time here, I would totally come back!

Sunday afternoon though (guess it was around finals time), was so packed there were NO seats available. There’s an abundance of seats, but all 50 of them were taken. It was so warm and humid inside too. I didn’t feel comfortable at all.
Good thing it was a decently warm day out cause I just sat at the little park-​ish area across the street.

Great place to do work. Free WiFi. Fun music. Good tea and sandwiches. Super crowded though.

This coffee shop is amazing to me!!! Some people feel it is too crowded some time, which is true. And it’s not that neat. However, this coffee shop is one of the reasons why I am jealous of NYU’s students (JK). The atmosphere here is really good for studying and working. Not too quiet or too noisy. People around you may be talking with each other, reading a book, doing something with their laptops…
The coffee here is just ok. Not bad and don’t expect too high. What impresses me most is the environment and atmosphere.
P.S: If you want to get free sandwiches, stay till it closes, then you may get one or even more if they don’t sell the food out. I was lucky to get one. It was good.

A haven for those who want to «get stuff done» and also for those just looking to get some quality people watching in. Last time I spent a good part of an hour watching the colorful character next to me commandeer the shop’s honey bottle and then drizzle it over an entire loaf of bread which he proceeded to devour slice by slice. Quality entertainment (she said without a hint of irony).
I’m the rare breed who adores coffee shops but hates coffee, so I can’t speak to the primary wares they peddle here. They make a mean iced tea, though. And a killer grilled cheese (but they’d earn that 5^th star if they got closer to serving the cheesy goodness all the way up until closing time rather than just letting the lingering aroma taunt those burning the almost-​midnight oil).
It’s a lot bigger than it looks from street level, and there are lots of tables to be had. They also get mad props for their in-​store nod to local legend Dan «Will Teach You Guitar» Smith — keep your eyes peeled!

Swarming with NYU students and kind of dirty because it’s always so crowded. Every drink I’ve ordered has been mediocre at best.
Hard pass.

I can’t believe how disrespectful this place could be to farmers. roasting might be okay if the baristas weren’t SO BAD. a couple of things about the barista, purging steam wands? that’s 101 guys. when you see the milk bubbling, that’s a really good indicator that the milk is boiled and no good. and for the coffee using the start of a shot for someone’s coffee and the end of the shot for someone’s is is very! poor practice.

I am not a big fan of coffee, and don’t differentiate coffee from one place to another. Some people say coffee here tastes really good, but to me it was an adequate iced latte. What I really liked about here, however, was the inside. There were a lot of tables for people to sit or study (it is right next to NYU campus buildings), so was really optimized for studying.
This place should be a popular spot for NYU students who prefer studying at a café to studying in the library.

This think coffee is literally one block away from me, but I have gone there all of two times since I moved into my build about a year ago. Why? They are overpriced and their coffee tastes bad. Moreover, when I want food it’s always «sorry, we don’t serve that now». It’s always too late or too early for the food I want.
The bathrooms are terribly disgusting.

Tried an iced coffee was OK.
Also had a pistachio/​dark chocolate roll. Was delicious, a bit pricey but delicious.

I’ve been to this location a million times (a million, I say!) and I’m kind of surprised I’ve never reviewed it. Hmmmm. Well, no time like the present!
It is large and can become inundated with throngs of NYU students armed with laptops, but I’m usually taking my tea or chai to go; if I stay, it’s only to sit a spell before meeting someone for brunch or dinner. I find it to be pleasant and comfortable with nice staff. Occasionally, the front of the house plays different music than the back of the house, which can make my ears and brain hurt a little. Haaa. Case in point, I stopped in briefly this past Sunday morning to get an iced tea. Some unidentifiable downtempo R & B was playing near the front door while Britney Spears (…yes…) was playing in the rear.
The Think Coffee mini-​chain, in general, is a familiar sight for me whenever I see it, and I have yet to be disappointed by anything they’ve served me. This location is no different to me, though it’s the location I’d be least likely to sit and stay at for the aforementioned reasons. (Damn swarms of laptops. Haaa.)

They hosted a board game Meetup, which was nice. Not planning to come here otherwise.
Their coffees are smaller than you’d think. Their large is between a grande and venti at Starbucks, but pricier than a Venti.
I got an iced latte, listed on the menu as $ 4.75, am already-​ridiculous price. They charged me $ 5, though. No idea why. When I asked they didn’t even know what the pricing was about, and said it was tax. But a perfect round number like that doesn’t seem like a real tax rate… and taxes are usually higher than the 5% in this case. I’m suspicious.

I came here because the Starbucks around the area was packed. I honestly was very unimpressed by the coffee here. Compared to other coffee shops, I’ve had way better.

and it said a lot of outlets… but i actually could not find a single outlet around me. I wept as I closed my laptop as it breathed its last knowing there was no more hope.
But yeah, lots of nyu students but other people too.
I got the iced chai. a little too sweet (and too much ice) but not bad. I’m also sad that the ONE thing I want is the most expensive item on the menu
My friend says the coffee here is solid.

I’ve been meaning to try this place for awhile and I’m happy I did. I came here for a pick me-​up both in liquid and edible form as well as get work done.
There is a TON of seating– though it gets busy and still may be hard to find a spot.
Wifi works well.
The music and patronage can get noisy but I don’t mind as I’m still able to concentrate– I actually really enjoyed their selection of mostly modern pop they were playing that day. I think some 90’s was played too.
I ordered a cappuccino and blue cheese quiche. The barista could work on her latte art (but it’s really not that serious). The quiche needed more blue cheese– I could only taste it in about 2 bites.
They are open relatively late (10 pm) and serve beer and wine. I will definitely be returning.
