I wish I could give it negative stars. They charged me $ 28.99, after my 12 weeks was over. Be very careful make sure to cancel your subscription before its renewal date otherwise you will end up paying them extra money, which I think that’s THE WAY THEY MAKE MONEY.
Also their customer service is extremely awful.
THIS IS CALLED A FRAUD.
Be very careful. If you need to read it go to the places that will offer you the free copies.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Absolute fraud subscription policy. If you fall for the scam of «$ 1 for 2 months» or «$ 12 for 12 weeks», they will not disclose the monthly charges and then start charging you 4 times more than any other WSJ digital subscription available online. with no refund policy! :(
Hint: Bad companies don’t just have poor customer service but also dumb policies. Now i use my gift card with some spare balance to subscribe with a new email id @

Charged me after i had cancelled. Won’t refund the charge. Doesn’t have a way to cancel online, you have to call. Argued with the lady, wouldn’t budge, won’t refund. I’m going to call the credit card company now. Wow, terrible customer «support» for such a high-​brow newspaper. Bad service = bad reputation. Of course, they now obligated me to give bad reviews to everyone I know.

The online subscription is a borderline scam. I did a trial offer, just to maintain some soon to expire airline miles. Never once received the physical paper (was supposed to). Before the trial ended I went to cancel online, and seemed to succeed. But about a month later they auto-​charge me 3x the initial sign-​up cost. When I call to complain they inform me it can only be cancelled by phone, and hide behind the Terms and Conditions. Nothing prorated, or reduced. I never accessed any content, but they don’t care. Quite the scheme they have going.

It is amazing that such a distinguished publication is unable to deliver a paper on a timely basis. 4 times in the past 5 weeks, a non delivery issue, and further, they never made an effort to deliver it the next day. I wonder if the advertisers know that they are not getting their moneys worth. 20% non delivery. When one calls up to complain, one never get any real satisfaction. A sad Sack organization with over paid executives to say the least.

I’ve read The Wall Street Journal a few times now, after my friend normally picks me up a copy while in New York. As a big reader of newspapers, I normally like to read ones in my home country and abroad, especially with my interest in everything going on in the US, especially with the current 2016 Presidential Elections.
By Circulation, the WSJ is the largest circulated newspaper in the US, with a daily circulation as of March 2013 at 2.3 million.
It is a broadsheet newspaper by format, but the pages seem a little narrow, and for a first time reader it is quite unusual, and basically is a rectangle and can fold into the perfect square, which is nothing like the broadsheet newspapers we have in the UK, including The Times and The Daily Telegraph.
Most of the articles in my issue, seemed to be too highly situated around the US Primaries, and although they were some good articles, they wasn’t a huge balance of things covered over than that, there were a few other articles which seemed no where near as good.
The «World» section was a little poor, and basically only situated news, the size of a stamp for most stories including the current situation in the UK, with the Panama Papers scandal and leading politicians, including our Prime-​minister David Cameron having to file their tax-​returns.
There was a small news bulletin, with a few bullet points and where to find the story on the front, which had page numbers starting with A which was quite strange.
There were a few smaller sections as I recall, but the paper its-​self was thin, It was OK, I probably would buy it again but still it was disappointing to me and due to the quality of most articles, and there being so many unusual things about this paper, I sadly feel 2 stars is the highest I can go.
UPDATE: After some consideration, I have decided to upgrade WSJ to 3 stars, as there is also a good amount of sections which come with it, as well as holding some good articles, although they don’t seem as informative in some cases, they still use a good range of stories to a good standard to warrant a 3 star rating.

I signed up for their trial period six months ago and promptly forgot about it. I only realized a little over a month ago that I was being charged $ 28.99 a month – nearly a dollar a day for an online service I never use. I could have sworn I canceled last month, but sure enough the charge popped up again yesterday (a Sunday). I called first thing this morning, and they would not refund! The smug agent «Mark» wouldn’t even give me his last name, insisted that the terms of the contract I signed allowed them to autorenew (I’m sure it did, but a respectable company wouldn’t try to gouge a customer $ 28 if they call the day it gets charged!). I told him (Mark) that he didn’t need to keep reading the contract to me, and he responded that he did, and wouldn’t even cancel my subscription going forward unless I stayed on the line with him as he read out the auto renew information. Infuriating. I will NEVER buy WSJ again. Congrats, guys– news journalism is already being hard hit. You are helping it die by being rude and unreasonable.

I went to three places in Atlanta to pick up a WSJ on April 2, none of the WSJ’s had the WSJ Magazine insert ??? Fail !!!

Cancelling 1 day after means you will be charge for a whole month. Suggestions: prorate the fee people for the time they won’t be using the magazine.

There is a lot I like about the Wall Street Journal content, but their online subscription program just gets sleazier and sleazier. If you click the big «Subscribe» button all over their site, they offer a «great» deal of $ 1 for 3 months. But that’s just a tease. Nowhere on the page do they mention what the actual price that they will auto-​charge your credit card for after those 3 months. Curently it’s $ 28.99/month. WSJ should put the real costs up front, don’t just hide behind a teaser deal

I just had a horrible time with WSJ customer service. In December, they are going charge me $ 395.88 for renewing the subscription, so I said I want to cancel it. The representative said she will take care of it. Today I saw $ 395.88 on my charge card that’s fraudulent! When I called and complained, this rep told me the reason they charged me for the amount was because I hanged up on her! Then this rep goes on to tell me he can take $ 100 off the subscription price. I said no thank you because I have to go through the same thing ever year. He was insistent and finally I had to tell him I will never do business again with WSJ because their tactics are really nasty. I must have been calling India since I could only talk to people with Indian accents. Never again, falling into their tactics. Never give them your credit card number, they will keep charging your account.

I am a long time subscriber who receives a discount as an educator. I use the paper in my classroom and urge my students to become regular readers. Many of my former students now subscribe to the paper. A while ago the paper introduced WSJ+ which has various offers & freebies for subscribers. The problem is they don’t offer it to education subscribers. I can’t believe how small minded the paper is being. I probably account for more new readers and subscribers than any 100 of their «regular» subscribers, yet because I get an educators discount I am treated like a second class subscriber. This is no way to maintain a readership base or build customer loyalty. I’ve written to them several times, but I only get a form letter thanking me for writing and saying the will refer it to management. That’s no way to treat someone who has been a subscriber for many, many years.

Just made the recipe for Apple Cake in Saturday’s Journal. Evidently not kitchen tested. Calls for 010″ round x 2″ pan. NOT
Pan probably should be 10″ spring form. (much deeper). Cake is all over oven. Plan to eat it anyway.

Its actual reporting used to be spectacular. Its editorial stance has always been ridiculous.
It kind of reminds me of the US Congress, especially the Senate – when most of its members’ opinions turned out to be dead wrong (like on the Iraq War), why should anyone ever again trust anything these people have to say? If you’re stupid enough to be bamboozled on an issue as important as going to war by the most unintelligent President since the nineteenth century, then you’re not fit to make important decisions ever again. Period. What does this have to do with the WSJ? Well, it played its part in cheerleading the Iraq War, but it also led us blindly into the Great Recession. Has anyone actually paid for a calamity that almost made the entire developed world destitute? Oh, right, the bankers on Wall Street who were gullible enough to believe their own idiotic housing-​bubble hype were punished with fat bonuses. They’re doing better now, relatively, than they were before they brought the world economy to its knees. These guys and their backers at the Wall Street Journal deserve more than a haircut; they deserve to live the rest of their lives either in jail or destitute on the streets.
So why two stars? The actual reporting is still pretty good.

How to get rich:
1.Create a business magazine.
2.Get people to subscribe to your rag.
3.Rarely (preferably NEVER) send out the paper to subscribers.
4.Ignore repeated requests from paying subscribers.
5.PROFIT!
Seriously. Not joking. Look at the other reviews. This is standard procedure for the WSJ. I don’t know why they aren’t prosecuted for fraud or theft. They take people’s money, then never send the product that was paid for. I would say it is unbelievable but obviously it is completely factual. I never received a single issue of my subscription. No wonder papers are going out of business. Good riddance.

This is a review of their customer service for delivery. I emailed the WSJ to say that two newspapers hadn’t arrived. I received an email response quickly, with an offer to extend my subscription to make up for the lost papers. The papers have now been arriving without a problem. I also received a call from a delivery rep who wanted to ask a question about where to leave the WSJ. I don’t expect services to be perfect — I just want them to try to do a good job. The WSJ was very responsive. I appreciate that they make such an effort to quickly respond and to solve a problem.

I have had a subscription for three months. Daily delivery mon-​sat. I received the paper one time and have not received it since. I have contacted the customer service line/​chat numerous times and all give me the same line «this has been reported to your local delivery office». Each time I get an email a few days later saying «your issue has been resolved» when in fact… still no paper. WHAT! This is insanity! I would cancel but I have the subscription through my graduate program and need to read for class. SO FRUSTRATING! How can such a well respected news outlet have such deplorable customer/​delivery service?

The customer service provided by their support center is deplorable. They charge you without notifying you and then are extremely rude about it. I spoke to a supervisor which basically said we don’t care about any extremely reasonable expectation you may have, but this is how it is.
It’s so surprising that a company with such a great product would provide such horrible support.
I agree with an earlier review, just go to the store a buy a print copy rather then be scammed by them.

The WSJ is a great and very informative read. I subscribe and have for years so Ive watched the format change here and there. the Personal section added some years ago is great. It covers an area they really did not hit before, and makes it more interesting to a larger audience.
I think the WSJ is a good contrast to the NYT on the opinion side, they actually kind of even each other out. Although to be fair, l the NYT does break some stores the WSJ has not and vice versa.
I access the online paper here on occasion, but am more likely to read the WSJ if I have the paper version in front of me.

Not a bad newspaper when it arrives. When it doesn’t they are good about getting one delivered.
Very expensive so I let my subscription lapse.
All of the good points, however, are so TOTALLY overwhelmed by the lousy customer service and annoying telephone call center marketing service. Several times now they have been told that I don’t want to pay the price and don’t have the time and don’t want a subscription. But they repeatedly call… and are pushy… and are rude.
First… who is «they» you ask: Thomas L. Cardella (Dow Jones vendor #L-​11). The TLC call center number is 609−373−1915. TLC appears to be one of the largest call center companies with a list of clients that would choke a horse. Good for them but they are the ones who make all of use fearful of answering our phones, act like monkeys «hello, hello, hello» before they really get connected, and then they appear to lie about the Do Not Call list when that is requested. When a supervisor is requested the TLC response was, repeatedly, that no supervisor or manager is on site and there is no way one can be contacted… call WSJ.
So I did… I called WSJ and went through the wickets, screening, and vetting necessary to speak with a supervisor. She seemed quite understanding and promised that she could expunge my subscription record so it would never again be sent to telemarketers. When asked to transfer to someone in management they couldn’t but provided a name and phone number. Ms Glenda White, may not have a direct role in this type of matter but she is kind and also said that she could pass the information to the right management people to make that happen. Nice.
And as a bonus associated with enough pushing… a marketing manager, Mr. Ronald Wolf, called back to assure me that he would take care of business.
But what WSJ and TLC might not know or care about is how much they intrude on people’s lives, causing them grief and discomfort… and how much that impacts their business. I will never, ever again subscribe to WSJ… even if they become the last newspaper on the face of the earth.
But on the bright side… once one gets past the first line of marketing reps, there really are people who understand, care, and seem credible in their efforts to resolve issues like this.
