The Silk Shop

I was looking for fabric stores in the area and this was the top selection according the the Unilocal search for «fabric stores.» I was incredibly enthused until I stopped in front of the store and found out it was a Boutique with Silk Clothing, not Silk Fabric. Had I been expecting what I found, I would have been delighted, but alas I was not. Even after reading the reviews I had hoped to find a bit of both worlds, but it was clearly a place for just buying clothing. I will have to go back sometime with that mind set so I can more fully appreciate the experience.

This shop is the best kept secret. I purchased a top from a Boutique in Park Slope for $ 100. I just happened to be walking past the Silk shop after seeing a friend at the Beekman Hospital only to find the very same shirt for $ 20. A friend of mine loved the top so I picked it up for her, but I really wanted to confirm that it was the same designer and that store in Park Slope took me for a ride. Oh yes ladies the top I purchased a week prior was $ 20 in this store. All of that being said, I never returned to said store in Park Slope!
The owner of the Silk shop is very nice and the staff is fantastic. I always go in looking for 1 item and come out with 20 or more items. I also have another sweater top I picked up from the Silk Shop, I was at dinner with friends and a waiter came over wanting to know where I got the top. He wanted one for his girlfriend. Since I have the stores’ information stored in my cellphone I gave him the address right away.
If you haven’t made it to this store yet you need to get there. You will not be disappointed.

I have been shopping at the Silk Shop for years, and considered it my little secret, but the clothes are so amazing that, and the prices are even better, that I couldnt hold it in any longer…“SHOP AT THIS STORE”…Carol the owner has the most amazing style and everyone who works there is a pleasure, They have layaway that makes it a little easier if your on a budget… SHOT OUT TO NYC BEST KEPT SECRET

I can’t believe that no one has written a review for this boutique!!! First of all it’s been in the Financial District for years and it never fails to astound me with all the AWESOME things I am able to find. I’ve purchased so many one of a kind items and each has been at reasonable prices. They have a great $ 20 rack where you can find the cutest things ranging from tops, skirts, dresses, pants, etc. I will say that they are some pricier items within the store but the quality makes it well worth it (I purchased a BEAUTIFUL cashmere wrap for about $ 130). They carry all kinds of accessories and a full assortment of coats, jackets, pants, blouses, blazers… you name it. I’ve purchased stuff for work AND for a night out dancing with friends. It’s the perfect place to find that sexy party dress, too. There is also a section for men on the lower level including shoes. Its a fantastic find. I’m reluctant to tell you to check it out but truthfully just GOTTA GO!!! BTW, they also have layaway ;-)
