The Riverside at 150 Riverside Drive is a pit of despair for the elderly. Do not send anyone you care to this place. I’m nauseated to have to even give them a single star. This is not a medical center, this is a despicable travesty of a nursing home and rehab center. If there is any justice in the world, the entire management team, nursing staff and medical staff will have to spend their old age in this place. 1. My mother in law went there for rehab. To say she was neglected is the understatement of the year. She and almost all the residents were left in the hallway for hours in their wheelchairs ignored by the staff. 2. She has since passed away, so I will not shame her by writing this, but when she soiled herself, she was not changed for hours. In fact my husband and I once sat with her four FOUR hours begging a nurse to clean her only to be sent from person to person to person. 3. The nurses lied to my face over and over. It was sick. I would witness something and they would deny it. And no matter what happened they would try to claim the resident was senile. MY mother in law was in perfect mental health but they tried to «gaslight» us into thinking other. More than one nurse and more than one time would lie to my face about a situation even if I just witnessed it. 4. There is no staff available on weekends. It was a horror. My mother in law needed urgent help and we could not reach a soul for three weekends in a row. 5. They would not or could not get the food special requirements right. For weeks they fed her food that was not on her approved list. At times they gave her apple sauce or black coffee as her only dinner. She wept and was starving. What kind of sickos and evil people refuse to feed an 89 year old woman? And this did not just happen once. I can count at least six times that she was not fed, underfed or improperly fed and that’s off the top of my head. There is more, but I am sickened to have to relive the«care» my dearest mother in law received there. And I am not alone, we spoke to families with loved ones there who shared similar horror stories. The Department for the Aging should investigate this hell hole. The owners will claim this happened before their renovation, but it did not. This was after the renovation.
