Max is not only knowledgeable but friendly which is a rarity in NYC. He extremely collaborative in the process and will guide you or listen to what you want. In my case, I knew what I wanted and he agreed. The outcome was absolutely incredible. He and is staff, a family business for the most part, operate with grace, gratitude and high customer service (another NYC rarity). Thank you Max and staff for my art work. It is stunning and your prices were reasonable.

I have gotten a number of pieces framed here and always worked with the owner, Max. He is a true gentleman and great picker-​of-​frames. Everything I’ve gotten done looks incredible! I wouldn’t take my art or photographs anywhere else in Manhattan. It’s a pleasure to come every time as the experience is wonderful, the price more than reasonable, and the outcome perfection.

MAX is originally from Kauai Hawaii & he moved to NY at an early age. He obviously has done well for himself, but only because he is unlike the majority of NYers. I grew up in NYC & then moved to Hawaii, & then on to California… kind of like the opposite of MAX.
MAX is amazing warmly, knowledgable, & friendly… even to total strangers like my brother & I.
Since I had an ERTE (Serigraph– «Opium») sitting at my families house in Brooklyn for about 25 years or so & wanted to get it packed & shipped to California at my next visit…
I Unilocaled, called a few places, & finally discovered MAX!

My brother, who lives way over in Sheepshead Bay, at first complained that Oj was too far away… but I insisted that from what I could tell, MAX was the real deal. Other places gave me all kinds of BS, and gave me huge estimates, or refused to over the phone… the usual scummy NYer behavior…
NOT with MAX.
Anyway…we finally made it threw the snow to their lovely compact Gallery (whose rent approaches $ 30k/month…no wonder almost no one can start a new business in Manhattan!!!).
I first walk in with my ERTE & one of his kind staff promptly takes it off my hands. While I am «Talking Story» (Hawaii Pidgin) with MAX, my brother who looks like a NYC Sanitation worker (complete with his former work jacket from his city job), who just got off work, also comes in & starts yacking to MAX’s cohort.
Despite our totally opposite appearances & manners, they all treated us with the same kindness & respect.

Anyway, NOT only does MAX, go to the MAX with helping ship my «treasure» in safety & style…& at a very reasonable cost… but he also gives me plenty of wise advise concerning the possible future care & value of this piece… along with my limited edition Obama HOPE (signed & numbered) print that I still had rolled up at home. It seems that the HOPE print has increased in value & will continue to do so… as probably will the Erte. Nice to know.
The last thing on my mind was my brother… but it turned out that he bought not one, but two pieces of baseball oriented art. The Sales guy gave him a steal of a deal for one of those 3-​D pieces at around $ 3k.
Somehow we all had a great time in MAX’s Gallery!!!

I have used a half-​dozen framers over the years, but beginning 9 years ago Max — the owner at OJ Art Gallery — has been my only go-​to framer. Max is genuinely friendly, highly professional, and he makes excellent creative suggestions for best way to frame a piece. I’ve given him some tough innovation challenges, such as framing an iPad so that it can be hung in an art show and run a coninuous slide-​show loop for six weeks. It came out to be a striking piece; some visitors to the show even complimented me specifically on the framing (!)
The work is always done quickly — for example, I stopped by today to have him do a simple framing job, and hoped I could pick it up this weekend.
«Tomorrow, Max?»
«If you’ll wait ten minutes, you can take it with you.»
It was another great job.
Finally, the prices are always reasonable, often less than I’m expecting.
Highly recommended. If 7 stars were available, I’d pin them on Max.

I brought five certificates, awards, etc. to be framed here. The owner, Max, was an absolute delight. He asked me about my professional background and preferences and gave me not only options, but a candid assessment of what I should do. For an amateur at aesthetics, that is a godsend. And, better yet, he was right.
The five pieces were duly framed and finished within a week, which is an exceptionally short timeframe for this kind of custom work. The price was more than fair (ballpark $ 150 ea.); frankly, it was a lot cheaper than what I paid at the campus bookstore to have my diplomas framed. You get custom framing for the quality, but you should know the price here also cannot be beat. I could not be happier with Max’s work and have enthusiastically referred him to my colleagues. I am happy to do the same here.

Max is the best person to deal with. I wish all vendors were like him. He not only knows his stuff when it comes to framing but he is a sweet, considerate and very kind person. I had a shadowbox done which came out great and a frame for a watercolor painting which will pick up today. When i went to pick up the shadowbox he offered to have it sent to my house at no charge! who does that nowadays? Incredible customer care. No wonder he has so many good reviews. From now on, he is the guy I go to for all my frames. Highly recommended.

I should have written this a long time ago (probably 2 years ago).
My experience with Max at OJ Art gets better and better. I had him frame almost everything in our office. The only things he did not frame were the previous pieces of artwork that we had prior to moving to the new office.
Max frames pretty much everything for us, from personal effects to bigger pieces. He always ALWAYS does an amazing job, and if something is not right, he fixes it.
You can go to other framers, sure. Some will be cheaper, some will be more expensive, but with Max, you always get the best at a great price.

I don’t write many reviews at all. But after being a customer for a while and routinely being impressed, Oj Art Gallery has earned this review.
I have had over 10 pieces (paintings, concert posters, etc.) framed at this place over the last few years. Max has always been amazing to work with. Him and his team have a great sense of how to enhance the piece without taking the attention away from it. They have used several different techniques/​materials (mounting, matting, frames, etc.) to make each one of my pieces look unique and stand on their own. Their work is outstanding, his prices are great and the service could not be any better.
I’m not gonna lie, once in a while I get the urge to try another place and see what they have to offer in terms of their vision and to also check pricing. Every single time I have gone back to Max.

Over the past six months, I’ve gone to this frame shop three times and have had seven pieces custom framed. Not only is Max a pleasure to work with, but his prices are extremely affordable. And it usually takes less than ten days for a custom piece to come back which is much faster then anywhere else in the area.

They’re really nice here. I came in because I thought a piece was missing for my frame so I wanted them to frame the picture for me and provide the piece. The guy at the shop pointed out that the piece wasn’t missing (I felt dumb) and that I could actually do it myself. Then he did it for me ANYWAY and wouldn’t even let me pay for it. I will definitely come back here for any framing needs.

Max is the BEST, but all of the people here are great. They have a very good sense for the correct matting and framing, no matter your style. They always offer the best and most reasonable solutions for your projects.
I recently brought in 2 posters for my son’s college room and they framed them both for $ 100! Better than buying pre-​made frames and doing them myself.
I just brought in an old water color that was turning yellow/​brown around the edges of the Matt. The old matt was French matted (hand drawn lines around that are not done anymore). Max suggested a new mat close to the lines to save the beautiful French matting effect and restore the art so that no more damage is done by the old cardboard backing.
If you love your art or posters, bring them here for the best advice and framing. Prices are excellent and service can’t be beat. Work is done in just a couple of days! Best in the city!

I’m a professional photographer, and I recently had a great first experience getting a large print mounted and framed by Max and the staff at OJ.
All I can say is that the frame looks great, the mounting is flawless, and the price was several hundred dollars less than other competitors.
The turnaround time was about a week (competitors told me 4 weeks). I was able to personally meet the guy who built the frame, and opening up the print in the store to check out the job was no problem.
Very professional, very fast, and excellent price. Will be going back.

Max at OJ and his staff are well equipped and versed in framing and art itself. A versatile artist, Max «GETS» the work and frames it accordingly. I buy and sell art as well as paint myself, so a gallery like OJ is invaluable to me — to always get the right frame, mat and presentation for personal use as well as sales.
You know they are good because they are always busy.

The most important thing for me in regard to my framer is
— Preservation (The art should be framed in a manner that preserves the condition of the work.
–Deisgn — No dated designs, I want to look like it can hang in a museum, yet not be heavy or ostentatious
–Price, I am not looking for the cheapest guy, but I want value for my money.
Max at OJ art has framed some very high end pieces for me, things valued well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, he has also framed works of art that are valued in thousands of dollars. A framer must first and foremost protect the integrity of art. Max only uses Archival framing, which preserves the condition of the works, In addition he had a good eye for design and frames art with an eye for understated elegance. His frame designs are not dated, which is what you get at the chains. His designs incorporate timeless styles.
His prices are fair considering he uses the best materials available. If you love your art, like i do, OJ Art Gallery is the place to have it framed.

I had great first experience here getting two large (20×30″) photos matted and framed. Their prices were more than reasonable, the work was top notch and done on time. Because I live not too far away they even offered to drop them off with my doorman. Good stuff. I’ll be back again next time I need something framed.
