Prior to purchasing, I did a lot of research on sapphires. Turns out, The Natural Sapphire Company met all the criteria I was looking for: natural untreated sapphires accompanied with written documentation to verify their origin & authenticity. It took me four months to finally pick out the ideal gems to have them crafted to rings. Caitlyn was extremely patient with me. The entire process was conducted via email and she is very responsive and helpful. She and her production team made me the most beautiful set of sapphire rings I can dream of: yellow, green, and purple sapphire rings. Complement follows whenever I wear them. With their large selection of quality sapphires, honest business integrity, and outstanding customer service, they have gained another loyal repeat customer. I will not hesitate to recommend them for my family & friends.

My husband bought my engagement ring from NSC six years ago. It is the most beautiful piece of jewelry I own. The buying experience was second to none, we received the ring very quickly, and it matched what was advertised – exactly. It doesn’t get more better or more honest than that.

I ordered a Sapphire Pendant for my wife for our wedding anniversary… I placed my order assuming I had plenty of time before my wife returned from her business trip to Mongolia. But… she caught me by surprise and informed me she was coming home early. I panicked and contacted The Natural Sapphire Company explaining my predicament. I received an immediate response and they expedited my order and my order was shipped the very next day. The customer service rep, Caitlyn, was very helpful, nice and insured me that I would receive the necklace in time… my whole experience with this company was fantastic! And… give Caitlyn a raise… stellar customer service is what sets you apart from other companies… there are many companies that I can order from… but this level of customer service is rare. I will be ordering next years anniversary gift from these guys. I am very impressed with this company. I have very rarely given a company a review this positive. I’ve been a satisfied customer of the Natural Sapphire Company for the past 8 years.
I first went to them for an engagement ring. 3 stone emerald cut white sapphires on a custom white gold mounting. My fiancé at the time wanted me to have a ring he could strut about showing off and a show stopping ring is what we got. A few days after wearing it, one of the little decorative side stones (not the center stone which I selected from a handful of special stones) started turning a little yellow in the sun and I brought it back. It turns out some untreated stones lighten after having been stored in a vault for years. So they appeared white, when they weren’t actually white stones. The NSC replaced that stone quickly and I never had a problem again. I also had a men’s engagement ring made out of a beautiful black star cabochon sapphire at that time.
That relationship didn’t work out and the NSC took both rings back (no shade, I paid for them so they were mine). They gave me a credit for the value of my ring (and I’m sure would have done it for both rings but I wanted to keep the black star sapphire) and remounted the black star sapphire into a custom designed pendant so I could wear it. I used the credit from my ring to select another stone, one that I spent over an hour picking out, this time a beautiful emerald cut deep blue sapphire, that was not very big, but the color just spoke to my heart. I had it mounted onto another custom designed ring with my directive that I wanted sharp side stones for a pointy ring to signal STAY AWAY. The NSC had to custom cut some side sapphires into points for this piece and they once again, amazed me with the beautiful work they had done.
A few years later, I was mugged and had my black star sapphire pendant ripped off of me. The police asked me for any specific information about it and the NSC emailed me within the hour I notified them, with all the descriptive information about the stone and the pendant. Talk about amazing turnaround time when you really need it.
Fast forward to just a few months ago. I’m engaged again (this time to someone way more awesome!). I had found a ring I positively swooned over made by an indie designer in NYC. I was going to cannibalize the sapphire on my pointy ring for the center stone for this engagement ring to keep our engagement ring costs down. We tried for 3 months to work with an incompetent salesperson at the indie designer’s store. We even tried to get another salesperson but we told we had to work with the incompetent one so we gave up.
Since we had a small budget I had assumed the NSC was out of our budget but after all of these frustrations with this indie designer’s salesperson, I reached out to my contact Su Su, at the NSC. I explained our desire for a ring and our experiences with the famous ring designer’s store. Su Su delivered yet again. Not even a week had passed and she had CAD renderings for me to view and a quote well below our original budget, blowing the indie designer’s salesperson’s quote out of the water. My fiancé, who was copied on our extensive email conversations about design and production, PM’d me during this process to ask, «Is this how ordering a custom piece is supposed to be or are they just extra awesome? Also, how is this ring so much cheaper, now?» I answered that it should be this easy and stress-​free, Su Su and the NSC are AMAZING, and they do all their work in house and don’t outsource any of it so cut out a lot of middle men.
2 weeks later, the ring was done, to custom specs, and within their original price quote. It is GORGEOUS and my fiancé and I could not be more pleased.
TL; DR? No matter your budget, check out the Natural Sapphire Company first and save yourself a lot of time and frustration. They are the BEST. I’m never going to bother checking for jewelry anywhere else.

Livia was so friendly and helpful. She was not pushy or impatient. Got just what I wanted and now, two years later I’m still getting regular compliments. I would definitely go back. I definitely recommend visiting them in person by appointment.

I visited the office in NY early June, Livia showed me a large variety of rubies (about 13– to 15 stones), she even kept my emails we exchanged 6 mths ago. I did not tell her what price range or anything, apparently she did her homework and well prepared for my visit. I picked out a ruby with the help of my children. We spent ¹¹⁄₂ hr there, I am so glad to drop by the office, there were so many things to do in NY, I almost wanted to skip the visit. It is pity Livia doesn’t work there anything more. I got my unheated ruby with GIA certified, it took about 8 weeks to certify, it is well worth the wait. I have been looking for a decent ruby for about 2 yrs in TX. I almost give up and switch to spinel, the ruby red just looks so much better than spinel, spinel that I found in my local areas is more expensive than the ruby I bought from NSC. I have my ruby mounted in my local store in Austin for I know the business, I used to sell diamond, however NSC’s mounting and setting price are fair, I suggest you have your stone mounted with NSC, for it is a common practice for the jewelry store to switch your stone, I was very careful to have my stone mounted, I made the jeweler to sign on the copy of the ruby certificate to make sure he mounted the stone on the ring, even though I know the jeweler. The jeweler may be upset that I don’t trust him, but he won’t dare to switch. The finished ruby ring is perfect of course.

My husband raved about the NCS after he proposed with a (BEAUTIFUL) ring several years ago. Long story short, I had another jeweler solder the bands together, and they burned many of the diamonds, left burn residue under the center stone, and damaged the bands. I was livid /​upset /​in shock /​you name it. Kevin from NCS stayed in constant communication with us about how to go about getting my rings back to the original state they were in. He offered up his personal advice and professional opinion, and he was a much-​needed advocate when we weren’t sure what to do.
I’ve recommended NCS to friends ever since I received my engagement ring in January 2011 — going forward I’ll continue to give this company 5 stars whenever possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I had an awful experience here and will not be making another trip to this store.
I had a late afternoon appointment that was scheduled to last one hour and it ended up being less than 30 minutes, due to the sales rep’s complete disinterest and non-​existing desire to help me look for any loose sapphires. I wanted to see a broad range of stones within my criteria (cut, carat, price range), many of which I had seen online previous to my visit. She only showed me one stone in that range and when I asked to see a few others, she refused to look or browse for more inventory. When I repeated my request to perhaps look at a few more stones in that range she said, «they’re probably not here right now» without even checking to see a) which ones I was talking about or b) to go look for more stones in my range. If I had not asked to see more stones and her refusals, the appointment would have lasted five minutes.
I can’t fathom how/​why any sales rep could be so dismissive, uncaring, disinterested, and quite frankly lazy about helping a potential customer, especially when my price point was on the higher end of the majority of the stones they carry in the store. I had to ask numerous times to see comparable stones so that I could get a sense of what I liked most and have a selection to choose from, but my sales rep refused to look it up and made me look up the ones I wanted to look at on my phone! I am not an expert on their inventory, and that should absolutely be the responsibility of the sales associate to show me what you have so that I can make a well-​informed, educated decision about my purchase. I gave a list of 5 stones that were all listed as available and was promptly told that they «probably don’t have those in the store», without even checking to see if they were, in fact, available. I had to ask for that to be checked twice.
What should have been an hour appointment ended up being less than 30 minutes (unbelievable) and I will never go back. I had such high hopes because I really wanted to like this place due to the positive reviews, but there are absolutely MUCH better places here in NY that are so much more dedicated, interested, and helpful (who actually want your business). To be honest it was between this place and one other place where I wanted to make my final decision and thank goodness the decision is very clear now.

I bought my fiancée her engagement ring from NSC. The stone was incredible in person. At first I thought I would buy the stone and have it set locally, but that ended up being more difficult than I thought it would be.
Fortunately, NSC took care of me and set the stone for free after I mailed it back to them.
My father just happened to be in Manhattan on business and was able to pick up my ring (even though I was hundreds of miles away) and transport it safely back. They were very professional, always responsive, courteous, helpful, and the quality of their stones and settings are incredible.

I have never been so happy to find a company. Not liking traditional diamonds, I was looking for an alternative but had never found a place that offered to sell –natural– gemstones! Not only was the selection vast, but the staff at Natural Sapphire Company were so helpful! They allowed me to order several gemstones and return them when I chose one. It was such an easy and fun process — something that I would love to do again. They have such quality there and what you see is exactly what you get!
I would highly recommend this company for any endeavors, and suggest you do too! You will not be disappointed.

After some online research, I decided I’d try going through the NSC and custom design a ring with a sapphire center stone. I searched through their sapphire inventory (which is larger than any other I could find) until I found a round mixed brilliant cut light greenish blue sapphire from Montana. I sent in an inquiry form and in a few hours Livia emailed me back with loads of information about the sapphire and the custom design process. I liked that the NSC’s sapphires were completely untreated and unheated, making them incredibly rare and valuable. I asked to preview the stone, and Livia immediately sent it through 2-​day Fed Ex after putting a hold for the value of the stone on my bank account. It was incredibly helpful to be able to see the stone in person before deciding to have it set.
After that initial contact, Livia remained consistently helpful, kind, and flexible throughout the design process. Over the course of an entire month she emailed me back several times every day answering all of my questions with incredible detail. I wasn’t sure about my setting, so in the beginning of the process her correspondence consisted of many graphic renderings of the stone I had selected in several different settings on their website. She was always happy to make any changes I requested to the designs. Finally, I sent in a photo of a setting I’d seen elsewhere and asked for a couple design changes. Livia got back to me the next day with a rendering of my custom design. I loved it, so I paid for the ring and waited patiently.
In only 2.5 weeks, my ring arrived! It was even more stunning in person and it fit perfectly. The stone seems to change colors depending on the light. See my profile pictures for examples. The price was also a great value for the quality of workmanship. It appraised at several hundred dollars more than I paid. My ring has received many compliments and I love that it’s so unique. I am planning on purchasing our wedding bands through the NSC and would recommend them to anyone!

My (now) husband and I looked and looked around the world before finding the perfect ring at Natural Sapphire Company. I knew I wanted something different than the traditional diamond, but with most other stones it was impossible to find them in a bridal setting (allowing the wedding band to fit next to the stone). I was so excited to find both the perfect setting and sunny gold sapphire. It was important to me that the stone have all the proper certification paperwork (like a diamond) and not be heat treated and we found exactly that! Livia was so patient with us throughout the entire buying process even mailing stones overseas to Hong Kong for our inspection. I can’t even tell you how many compliments I’ve had on my ring. I can highly recommend Natural Sapphire Company.

My partner just proposed with a beautiful sapphire from The Natural Sapphire Company. He interacted with the website — I actually didn’t know they had a storefront ’til I signed into Unilocal to write a review — had to write one because I am just so happy with the stone! It looks even better in person than it did on the website. The local jeweler we used to set it said the cut was one of the best he’s ever seen. From a layman’s perspective all I can say is that it catches the light so beautifully, looks deep and clear just like Lake Tahoe, and has just about as many colors to it — blues and greens and grays depending on what the light is like. I couldn’t be happier with this and hope others will feel comfortable ordering from the company’s website. As far as I understand you can always return it if it isn’t what you expect — in my case it was way better than I expected.

I purchased a loose stone back in 2008. The buying process was friendly and informative. I liked the idea of owning something that was natural rather than heat or chemically treated. The website was (and is still) comprehensive and fairly user friendly, which made it simple to find the shape and size I wanted before speaking with anyone. Later the issue of GIA certification came up, which they were happy to provide. These guys stood fully behind the quality of what they sold me. In my experience they’ve proven responsive, honest, constructive, and solution-​oriented. Satisfied!
