Having been to the UES original (which has since shuttered*), I dropped in on the advice to score «tree fruit pastilles and hobnobs». Staff was friendly and the joint was well-​stocked but surprisingly not well-​patronized — it’ll suffer the same fate in due time.
*Seems their import excuse for lack of inventory was a ruse.

An amazing wonderland of yummy British candy plus the much better UK versions of US favourites.

So happy that this store re-​opened. We used to go to the one on the UES but it closed about a year ago.
They have a great assortment of candy from the UK. Their Cabury selection is second to none — and it’s the UK’s Cadbury not the US version. They also have Flake, Aero and Lion bars. Several different kinds of Kit Kat and a lot of nostalgia candy.
This store also has Stumptown Coffee. Very nice addition to the Village.

Having recently gotten back from London, and missing it tremendously, this store was an awesome find. One of the things I loved about England, was how superior their candy tasted to ours.
I purchased the Smarties, which are similar to M&Ms, with more of a cocoa taste instead of a waxy one. I was very impressed with their selection and how friendly and helpful their staff was. I plan on making many return trips.
And don’t miss out on Peanut Butter Kit Kats. Best of the best.

Of course we had to come in for a visit after seeing that it was still opened around 11pm while walking past after a late dinner. This is one of the things I love about NY. In SF, this shop would be closed at 6 or 7pm.
I do love British sweets, chocolates and snacks. From the odd-​to-​us-​Americans tomato ketchup flavored Walkers (Lay’s) crisps, Flakes, Aero bars and McVitities. Some are certainly familiar to us such as Kit Kat (which most of us didn’t know originates from England) and Smarties which are basically M&Ms. I loved them all.
Somehow the British candies — particularly chocolates taste far superior than our’s. Why? Have you noticed our chocolates are a bit chalky? (I’m looking at you, KitKat bar I’d purchased from a vending machine and disappointedly ingested!) I suspect it’s partly due to the high fructose corn syrup that many US sweets are made from.
I have no problem paying a bit more for items made with higher quality ingredients than what I’d normally pay for a standard Hershey bar at the local Duane Reade. Yes, you can buy these same British candies on Amazon for a lot less or beg your friend going to London on a business trip to bring stuff back but really, what’s the fun in that? :)
The staff was helpful and upbeat. Fun!

Great service and a decent selection (they carry Fentiman’s Dandelion and Burdock, and I swear that they have Irn Bru, which makes a commonwealth brat like me swoon), but let’s not kid yourselves — the stuff in there is marked up significantly — for example, a tin of Cadbury’s Heroes should not be $ 35 (38 including taxes). The rent on the ²⁰⁰⁄₃₀₀ side of Bleecker is fairly steep.
If you are looking for value, well, the Butcher’s Block in Sunnyside (which itself carries a small markup) is there for the cost of a 20 minute ride on the 7, and they carry Irish Cadburys and Taytos (the Ulster one and the real one), as is Meyer’s of Keswick (a few blocks off on Hudson near Jane, and they have meat pies and cumberland sausages).
But if you are on the company credit card, work/​live in the area, or need your daily fix of Yorkie’s in the local area, then don’t panic, eat candy and carry on. Just make sure that you got plenty of that sweet sweet moolah to fund that crooked sweet tooth of yours.

This store makes me smile & takes me down memory lane back to the UK. I miss all the goodies over there & I’m thankful that there’s now a store dedicated to all their sugary goodness.
Another plus? I like the funky atmosphere and the perky staff.
Of course, all the goodies are a bit more on expensive side since everything’s imported. My only complaint though is them being out of stock of orange flavored kit kats!

Will your ADD drive you into this place once you catch a glimpse of the cool décor? Yes.
Is it located in a charming part of the city? Yes.
Will you smile when you see a six-​year-​old come inside the store and lose his mind when he sees how many chocolate goodies he could potentially be taking home? Yes.
Do they sell items you typically only see in London? Yes.
Do these items taste delicious? Yes.
Will you be paying 4−5x more for the treats in here than you would in London (or anywhere else in the world, really)? Yes.

There’s a lot of candy here that I’ve never seen before and I seriously didn’t want to leave! There’s so many interesting things to try and buy! The Boyfriend really liked that they have an entire chip section for different chips. According to him, it’s hard to buy Walker’s Tomato Ketchup chips anywhere in NYC — he’s only really seen them in Canada. I have to admit, they are pretty damn good.
I also tried the Flake chocolate, which was actually really good. It’s really very flakey and definitely unlike any other chocolate bar I’ve had.
The owner (?) was very friendly and really knew a lot about his products. He almost even stopped me from buying the Flake bar because he said if I’ve had it before, I should be trying another chocolate bar. I love it when people really know their product and can tell me about it.

My trip to the London Candy Co was pretty awesome. It’s a short, ten minute walk from my school and upon walking in I was thoroughly impressed.
At a glance, I saw chocolate, gummies, chips, or as the English say «crisps,» candy bars, mallomars, or the English equivalent, an assortment of English beverages, gift boxes of sweets, and English greeting cards as well as calendars and the like. In addition, this candy/​convenient/​English awesomeness store carries Stumptown coffee – they even have cold brew, both a French Roast and a House Blend, on draft, something I’ve never even seen in my multiple years living in New York. As said before, this was simply at a first glance.
If the actual products of the store weren’t enough, the staff on hand were extremely friendly, helpful, knew their customers, and knew their supply. It was nothing but smiles from the moment I walked in and why shouldn’t there be, we were surrounded by European chocolate.
And this is what helps to make The London Candy Co. unique. No one does exactly what they do with the attitude in which they do it. Plus, let’s be honest, there can never be an abundance of chocolate. Some personal faves, or so I’ve heard, were all there. First was the Cadbury Flake Bar, a chocolate bar with ribbons of deliciousness inside. Then the Cadbury Crunchie bar, chocolate on the outside, with a honeycomb, toffee center. They also carry Galaxy Chocolate, creamier than Cadbury with a crunchy cookie inside. The shop also has a variety of «higher end» chocolate, for those with a more «advanced pallet,» such as Willie’s cacao.
Like I said though, the store has much more than chocolate. They have Maynard’s wine gums, which are addicting, jelly babies, unique flavored crisps, such as T-​Bone steak, full line of beverages, such as Irnbru – which tastes like liquid bubble gum, and so much more, one could spend hours in The London Candy Co and still find new items that tickle their fancy. Whether we Americans like it or not we’re all Anglophones at heart, infatuated by the accent, the customs, and of course the chocolate. Indulging on our curiosity of English culture is definitely worth doing, especially if the indulgence is spent at the Candy Co.
The coffee was pretty great, even better on tap, the chocolate was pretty heavenly, and the atmosphere was super fun and energetic. I’m definitely returning whenever I can, even though I should probably refrain to avoid spending all my money on chocolate and coffee – not that that’s totally a bad thing.

Damn it. I wish I hadnt found this place. Now I have to stop in a couple times a week for Whispa. You just can’t find good Aerated chocolate in the states, but the Europeans know what’s what.
This little shop sells all kinds of awesome Brittish candy, snacks and coffee from Stumptown! The workers all wear silly little bowlers, and they float around stocking shelves and answering questions.
The only thing keeping me from coming in daily is the price. I get it, it’s imported candy, but $ 3 for a chocolate bar I will inhale in a couple of minutes makes cringe just a bit.

Space can be tight when it’s busy.
I feel like a kid after school when I walk into this place.

I would give this place 5 stars if it wasn’t so pricey!
They have Cadbury from England, McVities etc. I was so tempted to buy some of those chocolate covered cookies and several bars of Cadbury chocolate… but they were way too pricey.
This place really reminded me of those days when I was in London for 3 weeks and ate all these British sweets… but at a fraction of the price.

These are the words which should reverberate through your mind as you peruse these other-​side-​of-​the-​pond wares.
If you truly value your George Washington’s then search for the same English goods
on Amazon and pull the trigger there.
As an example:
Cadbury Crunchie Bars (Case of 24) is $ 11.69 on AMAZON, or .49 per bar. Check the prices per bar at The London Candy Company and get back to me (granted one is for 24 bars and the other is on a single bar purchase basis, but the extreme priciness is still very clear).
There is something bothersome about seeing 49p imprinted on an item which you just bought for ~seven times or more in USD’s.
The retail rents along Bleecker street can be brutal and they are no doubt baked into these sweet treats.

The London Candy Co. is a small shop packed with lots of English goodies, located on busy Bleecker Street in the West Village. Nearby there’s 16 Handles, Amy’s Bread, Murray’s Cheese, Rocco’s and many other shops. This place is jolly good fun as the candies, cookies, chippies are all imported from England. The downside is that prices are higher than you normally pay because of import prices; the upside is much cheaper than buying a ticket and going to England to fill up your suitcase. This is definitely the more affordable alternative right here in the West Village.
If you are a fan of chocolates, candies, chips and cookies from England, you can most certainly find it here. There are Yorkie bars, Maltesers in milk and white chocolate, and the Rowntree gummies. There are oak crummbles cookies and lots of marshmallow cookies. The British alternative to M&M’s known as Smarties can be had also. They have Cadbury chocolates such as Flake, Crunch and Roses and oh so many that I can’t list. They also carry Milky Ways, Starburst and Mars in the British version. Some are in decorative tin buckets, where you can reach in and grab what you want. Where else can you find ketchup flavored chip or Worchester sauce flavored French fries (chips, and even a pickled onion flavored chip. There’s also the famous marmite if you care for savory yeast spread.
Place is very colorful, funky and eye-​catching. Even the picture of the Queen with British flag sunglasses is very cool, along with colorful buttons and pins. The workers here are nice and one even posed for a picture. He was super friendly.
There is a huge saying that is painted on the floor that reads «Keep calm and eat candy.» I’m not sure if candy calms me but it sure makes me happy! Now if only they can get the cookies and candies from Marks & Spencer into the shop, that would be my ultimate London candy co.

On the plus side this is about the most fun I’ve had in a «sweets» shop, on the down side I now have to go out of my way to get my morning coffee…
Cold brewed stump town coffee on draft! Are you kidding, how have I never seen or had this before? I am hooked. Get store.

Wow. This little gem has all sorts of fine candies made outside of the US. OMG, they have crunchies. If you never had one, then you must try one right now. Cadbury chocolate over honeycomb. WOW! The owner and employees were so helpful. This place just opened last week. If you live in the village, then try it NOW! Good luck gang

This little shop has all kinds of British sweets and treats. The prices seem a little higher for some candies that you can find elsewhere around town, however their selection is massive. I picked up some wonderful looking candies to try. I will be returning.
