I grew up on the Disney movie and could not wait to see it on Broadway. It sticks very close to the movie, which I liked. If you are looking for a show to entertain the family or childfree adults alike, the Lion King is a crowd pleaser. It’s high energy, has beautiful costumes, fantastic integration of puppets/​props, classic songs, and a great overall message. The performers are top quality, amazing voices, and their happiness is contagious. You feel part of the show as they use the aisles and balconies throughout the performance.
The theater is a great venue, although arrive in advance and go to the bathroom to lessen having to wait in a very long women’s line. They check your purses and inside your jackets, so again, arrive early to get through the doors without feeling rushed.
If you get an opportunity to see this, you’ll leave feeling joyful.

I was here on Feb. 2, 2016 at 7:00 p.m., to see The Lion King with my Mom and Sister. The Costumes that the actors/​actresses wore were amazing and the jokes that the Characters made were so funny. This Play was worth the money and I would recommend it to my Friends & Family. I finally was able to see this Play after waiting for the right time to go.

This was great and a lot of fun. There’s a reason it’s a classic. You definitely feel like you are right back watching the movie for the first time but you also feel like this is something totally new and unique (because it is).
Costumes are awesome and fun. They use the whole theater throughout the show and the music is… Well you know the music.
I loved the opening scene, Mufasa’s death by stampede scene, and the Mufasa reappearing to simba scene. Great theatrical interpretations.

OMG.
Word cannot describe just how much I enjoyed this musical. It’s amazing to watch one of your childhood disney movies LIVE. The costumes, the set, the orchestra, just everything. To be honest I did fall asleep for a little bit in the beginning but I’m just going to go that I was really tired that day.
In general I would say it was just like the musical is so similar to the actual movie. I didn’t think the older Simba’s voice resembled the actual Simba very much where as every other cast really impersonated their character to the bone. I wouldn’t say so it was the acting but I think I expected better since Simba is such an important role in The Lion King. I also did enjoy that instead of singing «it’s a small world» he sang «let it go» very nice play on with modern culture. I really wanted to tear when the ending score was happening.
Would I recommend it to my friends? Without a doubt.

I went to see the lion king last Friday! At first I thought I was not going to like it that much but I absolutely loved it! Costumes and stage were just stunning. Definitely worth watching.

*Pure Perfection.
*Everything from the performances, to the costumes, to the music, to the decorations and lighting was perfect.
*Seeing the Disney cartoon brought to life was mesmerizing. What surprised me the most was how the voices of the Broadway actors sounded just like the ones in the movie.
*Even though Scar and the hyenas are bad characters, the show gave them a nice, comedic side to them that was very entertaining.
*Mufasa’s death and Simba’s remembrance of him was done very nicely, and the show played the perfect music at the right times to create that emotional effect on the audience.
*Make sure you come early to be seated. They play exactly on time.

I love the lion king movie so I’ve always wanted to come to New York and see this Broadway show! So glad I was able to! I loved every minute of it!!! Would highly recommend it!

This show bored me to no end. There is almost absolutely nothing different to the movie and what they do change are added songs that are so slow and so boring.
I think this is a play for kids or people in love with Disney I guess. I don’t know, I don’t get the hubbub around this show and I don’t get why people would pay so much to see it.

I don’t want to give much away, but Lion King is just done in a clever way that really had us intrigued, surprised, and even laughing much of the time. It is well done and the cast really is remarkable. We loved it! Let’s just leave it at that and I will say «GO!»
If you’ve been to Broadway much, this is not the best show ever done on Broadway — I really don’t think that is fair to even say and I am a bit discouraged by the corporatization of Broadway — however, that said, this show is worth your time anyway.
One thing — if you buy from Viator, be careful. I was led to believe our seats would be amazing. They weren’t. They were off to the very far side and I paid $ 200 more than the full face value of the tickets. I won’t ever be doing that again.

The best Broadway show I’ve been too, standing ovation! I was amused and in awe beginning till the end. The performers were amazing, the singing and the costumes everything! The show engaged the audience and truly became a relic from the past. m-​your childhood favorite coming to life.
The theatre was absolutely gorgeous and spacious. The space between each row was super tight. You’d have to stand up for others to pass through you, unfortunately that was us in the middle squealing through others.
They serve drinks for $ 16 each. I got the Hakuna Matata/​strawberry pucker+lemon lime soda. I always tried the margarita and sangria options– all overly sweet.
The staff members can be pushy. (Same show different crowd?) but of course the bartenders and cashiers at the souvenir spots were nice.
The show is about two hours and a half with one intermission long enough to get a snack or quick break in the ladies room. In the beginning, they give you an 8 minute warning. Once the «elephant» walks towards the entrance doors to the theatre, you have to wait 7 minutes to enter. Don’t miss it! Those 7 minutes are what sets the show! It was an amazing performance, which I would highly recommend. The experience was everything!

We arrived at 7:45 to the 8:00 Friday night show. The guy at the will-​call window informed me that I mistakenly reserved the 2:00 show. Without mention, he call for a supervisor to escort us to the play and we were given seats to the already packed show! THANK YOU! They completely exceeded normal hospitality.
The show was full of excitement and humor. We had isle seats and were immersed in the play as the act came through the audience several times.
Kid friendly and also kept my attention

The Lion King was as good as you can expect it to be on live Broadway. The story line was followed pretty closely, the special effects up to par, and the costumes lively and colorful. Very family friendly and my 9 year old daughter who has seen Wicked, Aladdin and Newsies feels that this is a real contender to be her favorite!

This is my childhood. I was so scared I wasn’t going to like The Lion King on Broadway, because I watched it as a *very very* young child, and remembered hating it, aghast that Simba was indeed NOT a lion. (Young me just did not realize you could not have 30 animals set free on a stage.)
I watched it with a friend recently, and was blown away. While everyone knows the plot and that’s not the amazing part, the execution is superb. The songs are sung beautifully and soulfully. The renditions of the animals/​costuming/​animal contraptions are EXQUISITE and really show how creative the Broadway minds are. The second the opening scene begins, your mind is blown from how beautiful the animals are rendered.
Hugely recommend this show. If you ever get the chance to watch during Broadway Week (2 for 1 deals), definitely swoop in, as Lion King is the one Broadway show that never goes on sale otherwise.

Muchísimo mejor de lo que esperaba, la puesta en escena increíble, los trajes perfectos para interpretar a cada personaje. No he visto la película en muchos años, pero cada minuto de la obra me recordaba muy claramente cada parte de la película.
100% recomendable, si disfrutaste alguna vez de la película, no puedes perderte este musical.

Amazing show. Great Broadway interpretation of the Disney classic with a few new songs. All of the actors gave a stellar performance, especially Rafiki. Even though the actors wore a mask on their head, you can still see their facial expressions and ranging emotions. The costumes and set pieces were breathtaking. The opening scene was the best! I was in awe pretty much throughout the entire show and felt like a kid all over again! I was also impressed with the musicians playing the instruments on the side. If you haven’t seen the Disney movie, you should watch it first before seeing this. Otherwise, you may be a little lost.
I suggest getting seats in the middle orchestra or front mezzanine. Also, aisle seats are good too if you want to see some of the actors up close. We paid full price for our tickets ~$ 169 each for front mezzanine.

Lion King production was huge, high-​quality, and impressive, with an excellent show, excellent audio-​visual and costumes, excellent orchestra. However, something was off, as a huge Lion King fan, I went to see it with high expectations. I’ve seen many plays on/​off Broadway, The play was good, but not great, and I have to say Lion King Broadway was NOT up to the Disney standards.
For reference, I saw Lion King at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia.

Of all the Broadway plays I’ve seen, this is by far my favorite! The production was amazing in every aspect.
The actors they chose to represent the characters were magnificebt, they did an amazing job at their roles.
The beginning of this show is breathtaking. You look around and wonder how they bring all these animals to life and where they’re all popping out from.
The music is great, the lighting, the backdrops everything was amazing.
The intermission was short and the play was to the point. I would go again, it’s definitely a must see for any Broadway lovers.

BEST PART OF MY FIRST NEW YORK TRIP!!!
I came with high expectations since all I heard is that broadway in New York is amazing and because I love Lion King as a kid.
The will-​call process was super quick and the ushers were very helpful. I love that this theater was decorated all around with Lion King items used in the show. This theater is dedicated to just showing The Lion King, which is awesome because usually theaters have a few shows that are played at the location (or at least the ones I have been to). They even have the costumes in the play displayed for photo ops and shops for cool items. I bought myself a t-​shirt and it came with a free tote bag! Cool! I also found it neat that the escalators went up the whole time people were coming in for the show, and when we were leaving, they all went downwards — how efficient!
Definitely don’t mind watching this again and more broadway shows in NYC! :)

Fantasic! This was my fiancé’s first Broadway show and I wanted to make sure we had the best spot possible. We travel to NYC during New Years so I new that it was going to be busy and a little higher in price but soooooo worth it!
I did a bit of research trying to find the best seats for the show through Unilocal and other sites. The best advice I got was that the characters enter through the audience for the opening number (Circle of Life) and the opening song for ACT 2. Based on this, it is good to get seats on the aisle in the Orchestra Section. The suggested rows were H-​W. We were seated in W101 and 102. BEST SEATS! They weren’t crazy close so a little cheaper but in the perfect spot to see everything on stage or at the end of the balcony. Plus with my fiancé, who is 6′ 4″, had room for his legs.
Personally, i think I was just on a emotional high the whole time because I was so excited abot getting to actually see the show. Back in 2005, I visted the show with my drama troop and we were able to go on stage and see the costumes. Sadly though, we didn’t see the show. It was well worth the wait. They did an amazing job transforming the stage into an afterican desert and the actors into all kinds of African animals. My FAVORITE was the little girl that played the young Nala. It was her first broadway show and she just shined. She also played the baby elephant and was adorable!
There were sometimes that you could’nt understand the hyenas but everyone else was fine. I didn’t have any issues with the temp of the theater. The music was amplified amazingly. The pictures I have added are from out production book. My soon-​to-​be Mother-​in-​Law bought us these tickets as a Christmas gift and added the soundtrack and the book. Love them both. The CD is amazing and gets me pumped up in the car listening.

Wonderful Broadway show in times square. It balances a nice mix of the tradition al Lion King cartoon story and music with some additional songs and scenes made for that Broadway show.
The theater is a bit large but you get a nice view of the stage from any seat. The cast and producers utilize the size by having the performers perform down the aisles which brings the audience into the show as well. You really get a close view of the masterful costumes and puppetry. The puppetry is really what stands out and the interaction of the performers with the puppets and while acting and singing is amazing.
A wonderful show for kids and adults.

This is the second time I’ve seen Lion King! The first time was in Austin, TX and of course everyone says it’s better on Broadway. And to no one’s surprise, everyone is right! I completely agree Lion King is a must on Broadway. With a different set of cast members, the show was an entirely new experience. The set design and costumes are still beautiful as ever. Rafiki was my favorite character and Zazu’s comic relief was hilarious!
Seriously go check it out!
