History
Established in 1919.
During the years 1919 – 1920 an elegant town house was designed for Mr. and Mrs. Harold Irving Pratt. Due to the Great Depression, in 1944 the house boarded up as no one was living in it. Mr. and Mrs. Pratt gave the house to the Council on Foreign Relations. The House officially opened as the Council of Foreign Relations’ new headquarters on April 16, 1945. To this day, the Council has maintained its original integrity.
