The Cut Barbershop

Was looking around the city for a regular place to get my hair cut, and this is by far the best place I’ve gone to. Ariel always takes his time to make sure you come out looking fresh. Cool, friendly vibe and take good care of their customers, which is hard to find.

Awesome experience. Very friendly people and do their job well. I would recommend it.

Plus: Surprisingly cheap haircut ($ 20), got right in the chair, in and out in fifteen minutes, gorgeous and friendly woman working behind the desk.
Minus: Terrible haircut. Oh my god. Messed up the sides, rushed through it, talked on his phone the whole time, didn’t even make eye contact with me when I said thank you. Uh, and the place is super small.
Like another guy who reviewed here, be aware of which barbers have waiting lines and which will get you right in the chair. Never get right in the chair.
So many well-​reviewed places around here, try somewhere else.

These guys totally called me out for letting my hair get away from me, but then they hooked me up! Will def be back and not after two months this time haha.

Honestly, it’s damn hard to find a non-​Asian who can cut an Asian man’s hair well. Edward is the man! Drove 7 hours to get my haircut (I may or may not have been in town already for my wedding anniversary… but that’s beside the point) and I’m happy I did. If you need a fresh Cut, this is the place to drop in to.

Been searching for a place to get a good cut in the East Village all year. The past few months I’ve been going to The Cut and have had all 3 barbers. All are very personable and do an amazing job. They know their hair and hairstyles. Cleanest hard part I’ve ever gotten. 5 stars all around.

I moved to NYC in February and I really needed a haircut so I researched places to get it cut. I looked up this one and was really intrigued by their Unilocal deal so I went in. Now, almost 5 months later, this is the only place I go to get a haircut.
It should also be noted that I’m really conscious about my hair. I’ve gotten different cuts from each of the barbers there and each one always amazes me with how fresh and clean cut I look afterwards. They get to know you and make you feel comfortable while you’re in the chair. I leave looking and feeling good. The people at work always compliment me on how my hair looks after I get it cut from here.
Definitely coming back.

I came in here on Saturday the 18^th for my regular cut. I got a cut from Eddie for the 2^nd time, I’d normally opt for Steve but he wasn’t in yet when I arrived.
While I waited I was forced to sit through a long dialog between Eddie and his buddy who came in to share stories of their midweek antics bangin’ bitches. I was in the shop for about an hour total and this conversation literally went on the entire time — how they found some English girl in the West Village, bought her back to the barber shop and tag teamed her then slept on the floor. If you want the graphic details, head in and I’m sure Eddie won’t spare any detail.
This isn’t out of character either — the first time I got a cut from Eddie he was offering to show videos of him hooking up with girls within a couple of minutes of sitting down and meeting him for the first time.
I have nothing against a bit of banter and guy talk but this was just downright uncomfortable and inappropriate.

WORST. As I waited for my hair cut, Steve took two people ahead of me claiming the first had checked in before me (fair) and the next as they walked in. The two working, EDWARD AND STEVE, proceeded to tell a story about:
How the previous night the two of them brought women BACK TO THE SHOP and had sex with them ON A BARBER CHAIR and how they stayed and got drunk inside and slept on the floor.
This was all talked about with a line of about 5 people waiting and two people getting cuts that were not focused on.
When I decided to speak up I was run out the door being cursed out.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE DISGUSTING PIGS.

I just want to respond to reviewer Michael R., who left a one star review today.
I was there when this incident happened. You are the worst kind of Unilocal reviewer. Because you were wrong, and you acted like a total dick.
I watched as you completely misunderstood a situation, and before anyone could explain why you were wrong, you had a little bitch ass tantrum, stormed out, and them stormed back, pointing fingers and threatening your shitty ass Unilocal review. Which you delivered on. So, well done.
I was the second person who you thought went ahead of you. You were wrong. I had showed up 45 minutes earlier, there were two in front of me, so I walked a couple doors down to grab a drink and wait.
When I came back and asked Steve if he was ready for me, he said yes. Instead of calmly stating that you thought you were next, you had a full-​on tantrum. And even though Steve was gracious enough to offer to cut your hair anyway (which meant that I would have to wait longer, even though you were after me), you stormed out like a little bitch, barking insults and threats.
And as for the «story» Edward and Steve told? Nice try douchebag. Maybe you should mosey on down to Barnes and Noble and pick up a book on screenwriting, cause you suck at making shit up.

Great haircut — in and out. They had a steady stream of clients and everyone seemed to be equally as desirable. Ariel did my cut and it looks great. I used the Unilocal voucher and the hair washing was fine but not as relaxing as some mentioned. You will not be disappointed.

I walked in here after reading the great reviews. My regular barber had a a very long wait and asked me to come back another day. Not cool!!!
I sat down with Steve who stayed past closing to take care of me. I mentioned my other barber and he had nothing bad to say and was just glad for my business. So professional!
The cut was superb. Steve kept checking in to make sure I was getting what I asked for and expected. He absolutely won a new customer.

Ariel and Steve are extremely skilled and talented. My partner discovered The Cut only a month ago and this was my first time. I’m very impressed with the barbershop, and the professionalism of the barbers.
That and they also free alcohol shots with service. A cut with hot towel is only setting you back $ 20 so not a bad deal for the neighborhood. Want a shampoo too? Only an extra $ 5. I went for something new this time and ended up liking it– I mean, the skills of the barbers in making a guy look good definitely helped. :-)
Would absolutely come back often.

Walk in, get an awesome no-​fuss haircut, neck shave, and a hot towel. All for cheap. Definitely my new regular barbershop.
Bonus awesome shampooing, it’s like a full head massage.

Came in here based off of Unilocal reviews and am leaving this place with a great haircut and review.
Bonus: The shampoo was the most relaxing experience in quite some time.

This is the best haircut I have received
in the city. No frills, just friendly and attentive service. My barber was Steve and I left very very happy with the quality of the haircut. Don’t over pay when you can get five star service right in the east village.

They were quick, kind and did a good job in general. I went for a haircut because I am new in the neighborhood and my hair stylist moved to FL.
I was a little nervous because it seemed fairly cheap, but do not regret it. They followed my instructions and did what I asked them to.
My only complaint is that they were not super familiar to hair styling products and I had to style my hair while sitting there in order to make sure that the haircut looked as I wanted to. After styling it, I requested a to fix something in the back of my head and they kindly did it.
A final comment, the guys were really friendly and repeatedly asked if I was a model, which I find kind of flattering. I might go back in a couple months, or less.
