History
Established in 2003.
Anti-Established in 2003, The Counter is the 21st century’s bold answer to the classic burger joint. Ushering in a fresh era of industrial décor, today’s music, cold beer, unique wines, cocktails, and burger options that are only limited by your imagination.
Our Times Square location is the first Counter Burger in New York and opened for business in 2010.

I am the marketing manager for The Counter Times Square, and I’m so excited to be working with such an innovative new business in NYC. The Counter is still fairly new to the midtown area, and it’s my pleasure to let New Yorkers know about the phenomenal burgers we’re cooking over here.
What’s so special about The Counter is that there’s something for everyone. Our Market Selection menu features locally sourced and sustainable Protein, Cheese, Topping, Sauce and Bun choices from our local chefs and customers.
For every step on the Build Your Own Burger Sheet, Market Selection choices allow you to individualize your Burger beyond our standard offerings. You can choose any and all items for your Custom Built Burger to create a unique experience that you call your own.
And if you don’t like making choices, our local chefs have created Market Selection Signature Burgers and Bowls featuring items from our local Market Selection choices.
