The Couch

I have dined at this hidden gem of the east village on numerous occassions since its grand opening last month. As with many new restaurants, the overall dining experience seems to get better every time as the waitstaff and chef become more familiar with the clientele and menu.
The layout is pristine, featuring an outdoor patio, lounge area, and traditional dining rooms upstairs and downstairs, perfect for any occasion (although I’m a bit partial to the upstairs).
The menu also leaves nothing to be desired, including a delectable array of appetizers such as the pot of mussels and complexly flavored steak tartare. My only word of caution would be to avoid the oysters as I found their preparation to be somewhat underwhelming.
Finally, for dessert, the Couch does not fail to disappoint. The highlight of the after-​dinner selections, the layercake, is rich, decadant, and always leaves you wanting more. I find that it is best shared between two… or even three!
Well done, I can’t wait to go back!
