The Cart Guy

you know that old clsssic song by crosby stills and nash called wooden ships? there’s a line that goes,
«say, can i have some of your purple berries, yes i’ve been eating them six or seven weeks now, haven’t got sick once.»
hello everyone in Unilocalland, i’m writing today about a cart guy who serves what we new yorkers call «street chicken.» and the first thing i have to say is i’ve been eating it for 8 years and i haven’t got sick once. and if you know nyc cart food, that is where any cartfood endorsement must begin.
of course, if it didn’t taste fantastic, no way i’d be still eating it after 8 years, no matter how sterile or sanitary. curry chicken, street chicken, simply rock. at this cart, he has lamb pitas and hamburgers and hot dogs if you ask, and i think even falafel but i’ve never bothered with any of that. i just get the chicken on pita or chicken on hero or even the deluxe version on rice in an aluminum plate with a plastic fork. have him put all the sauces on. whatever he asks, say yes. it’s either $ 3.50 or $ 4.00. and he is the sweetest best-​humored guy i’ve ever found on the street. he works his ass off and generates goodwill.
i haven’t got sick once.
