Business Owner

Prior to starting TechDad, Jamie worked in digital music, marketing for major record labels and artists including Britney Spears, N*Sync, Page & Plant, R. Kelley and many more. Jamie’s passion for playing and recording music led him to create and produce the compilation «SUBPLAY: Subway Musicians of NYC,» which was distributed worldwide. «Jamie graduated from University of Miami (FL) and also attended University of Rochester (NY). Jamie grew up in Manhattan and graduated from the Fieldston School. He is the father of a 9 year old daughter. In his spare time, he plays guitar and bass, is passionate about photography, practices yoga and enjoys indoor cycling.

I contacted Jamie after reading all the good reviews on Unilocal,and I shall add my own positive experience. I started off asking Jamie for a quote on re-​wiring my TV as we had a HDMI cable and input that failed and required un-​mounting my TV. After several emails, the scope of my needs and wantes changed and I ended up getting a new receiver. Throughout the process, Jamie was extremely responsive and very generous with his advice. He was very upfront and honest about his charges. When his team came, everyone was very nice and professional. My new receiver was set up, the HDMI issue fixed, everything was labelled neatly, and set up according to how I wanted it to be set up. The experience was so positive. New fan. Thanks!

Fabulous! We did a renovation on our apartment and it pretty much knocked out our entertainment system: 5 external speakers, DVD player, PVC, DVR and a bunch of spaghetti wires. He and Boris, his assistant, were able to get us back up and running in a relatively short amount of time. He communicated everything he was doing and gave great tips for use. And my favorite thing about the service– he was on time!!! Thanks, Jamie! I have no use for the Geek Squad ever again.

My husband and I have worked with Jamie from Tech Dad several times over the past year on various tech issues, including TV/​cable difficulties, computer problems and devising a data back-​up strategy. Not only has he solved our tech problems, he is prompt, reliable, professional and a pleasure to work with. He is patient with non-​tech savvy people like myself and also diligent about seeing problems through until they are solved. He’s also come up with creative solutions for specific tech needs. Doesn’t get better than this. Prompt, courteous and professional for a super reasonable price We had a recurring issue with our Apple TV, which they managed to walk us through in 15 minutes on the phone. Incredible service. You can bet we will call on tech dad for all our tech issues big or small.

I contacted Jamie because a disc was stuck in the DVD player of my home theater system. Several solutions, given by friends and the IT guys at work had failed. Living in Eastern Queens, my location was out of Jamie’s service area, but that didn’t stop him. After several phone calls to get info regarding model numbers, brands, etc. and research on his part, I am thrilled with the final resolution. He is a good listener, patient, soft spoken, and determined to solve the problem.

Tech dad– I don’t even know his real name! I called him «tech dad» — like «superman».
I am in LA and he is in NYC. I tried to find people to go over and fix our home theatre/​remote issues but everyone was unresponsive. Tech Dad followed through, was professional, and responded quickly. It was awesome!
I still haven’t met him but I felt safe and secure working with him from across the country. He showed up when he said he would. He was reliable and got the job done. Even had a coach session with our NYC guest who was staying at the apartment.
When you work with someone from the other side of the country it is a scary thing. I would use tech dad again for sure. He put me at ease and got the job done.
He is awesome! Who ever you are!!!

*****OUTSTANDING! *****My husband found TechDad on Unilocal after numerous AV and IT guys flaked on us. I told him if you answer our emails/​calls you’re already better than anyone else. I have to say, he did an EXCELLENT job on EVERY level. By the time we found him we had a myriad of AV and IT issues and he was able to help us with every one. He approached each problem with thoughtfulness and attention to detail. He provided us with a detailed written outline of all the problems that needed to be addressed. He was literally able to untangle a mess of wiring left behind by his predecessors and leave us with a meticulous functioning TV, cable, apple tv, xbox, dvr and stereo system with wireless universal remotes that had never properly functioned as intended before. He helped us swap our old imac and safely transfer data. When he was done with our home, he was able to address issues at my husband’s business. He provided an excellent level of service. ALWAYS prompt. ALWAYS responding to texts and emails. He even returned stuff to amazon for me!

iPhone BUSTED!!! I came across TechDad which was highly recommended to me for high quality service as well as parts. I met up with Jamie Propp at TechDad. He was very professional and accommodating. He completely worked around my schedule and made the process nice and easy. He ended up coming to me and met me at my apartment, where he fixed my phone right in front of me. Not only that, but he explained to me exactly what each part was, and what the function was. He gave me the step by step and told me why he was doing what he was doing to ensure me that my phone was in good hands. It was obvious he had amazing training and was proficient in the iPhone. I highly recommend Jamie Propp if you need a phone fix, or any device for that matter. You will definitely be satisfied with the high quality service and expertise he has to offer.

This guy is great! Sincere, professional and reasonable. I bought a new surround system for existing TV with cable and for some reason I could not integrate the components to work as one. Jamie not only got the system working, he came back and improved the ability to have all functions on a single remote. His follow up is fantastic and he will not quit until you are satisfied. He is calm and deliberate and I would use tech dad service for all tech jobs.

I hired Tech Dad to repair a home theater and get a printer to work. I was pleased that his schedule was so flexible that it was easy to schedule an appointment. And he really is like a Dad, if your Dad were a complete electronics geek, in that he seemed to enjoy explaining every step he was taking, and he also took care to keep everything neat. He gets 5 stars because he solved the problem of the home theater so elegantly, and because he has such a supportive and friendly attitude. He recommended I get a new printer and even forwarded a link to one that was on sale and would be more efficient with ink. So to sum it up, I found Tech Dad speedy, careful, effective, and supportive. I’m so glad I paid attention to the other Unilocal reviews and called him. It’s good to know I have someone to call when I have my next tech problem.

Tech Dad, AKA Jamie, is a super pro and a delight to work with. He was able to help me with a wide variety of issues – from boosting my internet signal to more efficient ways of managing my photos and contacts.
He is patient and kind, and unlike many tech guys (you know who you are!) doesn’t feel the need to make you feel stupid, or point out that «the equipment isn’t broken, the operator is.»
He is confident and thorough, and I was very happy with his help and follow up. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

I am good at many things. Technology isn’t one of them.
Working with TechDad was exactly what I needed. In a short time, we got to a lot of the things I had been avoiding for a long time. Things like setting up a Facebook page for my business, updating a LinkedIn account, and using an iPad that was growing dusty since I received it as a gift.
