TD Bank

I had a terrible experience today with a so called «customer service rep». The woman’s name was Motaza Dara. I have banked with TD bank since I was a teenager and I never had an issue with TD bank ever, and I always referred my friends and family to TD bank. So today I entered the branch «2 Wall st» at around 2:30 pm, I needed a replacement card for my lost debit card. She kindly introduced herself and sat me down. She asked me for a photo id and my SS. I gave her my SS, and I could have sworn I had my ID with me. Didn’t realize until I got there that I forgot my ID at my apt. So I told her I didn’t have my ID so she tells me that she cannot issue me a card without an Id. Understood, I understand companies policy, but when she told me that, she had a nasty tone in her voice and her demeanor totally changed. I lost my wallet this past weekend and it’s been a nightmare ever since, it didn’t help that I hiked looking for a TD bank all over FiDi in 85 degree weather, I was agitated and the last thing I needed was an attitude from someone getting paid to help with customer issues. So being that I have 9 dollars cash on me to last me until I get a new card, I asked her if I can withdrawal some cash from my account and Little Miss. Darth Vader looked at me as if I had 9 heads. She rolls her eyes at me and very sternly tells me I cannot withdrawal money without a photo ID. It was a simple question, I only asked because I was once able to Withdrawal money once from a TD bank on Canal ST without a Photo ID after a series of questions and verification so I thought I was able to do it again at this branch. Again, understood, company policy. So I asked her another question within the lines of «ok, so clearly I need to go home and get my ID, what time do you close today?» she says «7» now I used to live in Philly and just about all, if not all branches in Philly close branches at 8pm. So I’m unfamiliar with the hours of operations elsewhere and I know hours vary amongst locations. So I asked her «do you know of a location that closes at 8?» she says «no, all branches in NYC close at 7» so I told her «I’m just asking because I went to another branch out of state and they close at 8» so she had the audacity to say to me in a VERY condescending voice «Well, you’re going to have to check online because I don’t know how they do things in New Jersey.» I never even told her I lived in Jersey, so me must have seen my location in the system, But to her lack of knowledge I wasn’t even referring to New Jersey TD bank Branches but Philadelphia branches. So at this point I had enough of this rude lady and this was the Grand Finally. It goes just like this
Me: Can I just have a card sent to me?
Her: sure, it will take 7 business days
ME: 7 days? ok, but when I called to cancel the card the rep told me 5 business days?
Her: no, it’s 7 – 10 business days
Me: so I was told 5 days over the phone, than you say 7 days, now you’re saying 10 days, which one is it?
: in the mist of this, she is continually talking over me, so finally I say:
Me: Let me finish, can I finish asking you what I’m trying to ask you?
(I was trying to ask her if I could get a new card sent to me over night and what ever charges they need to charge me, go ahead and charge me, Because I also bank with BOFA and I had a card overnighted to me once before.)
Her: ok, go but don’t tell me «LET ME FINISH” again.
me: are you kidding me right now? Whose the customer here? me. Your job is to help your customers correct?
her: …silence…
me: you know what, we’re done right? are we done here?
her: yes, if that’s all you need than we’re done
me: ok thank you
Her: have a good day. (all while giving me a fake smile. Looking like Julia Child’s evil twin sister.)
The woman is a woman of age. It took all of my efforts not to go off on the woman because I really don’t like having to act in that manner. Especially to elders, but she was clearly talking down on me. Probably thinking that I’m a stupid poor person because I had only $ 70 dollars avail in my checking account. Well guess what lady, shift on over into my savings account and other accounts I have and you will see much different fund amounts. YES. I’m clearly still irritated over this.

Horrible Wait Lines. The line was backed all the way to the door especially during lunch time and after work hours.
ONE WORD: SLOW

I’ve been to two TD banks in Manhattan. One on 63^rd and 3^rd and this one in FiDi. I had a pretty bad experience at this one. I first came in and waited in line after 5 people only to be directed to a customer service representative sitting at a desk; thus, I had to wait in line again for that, but I guess that’s fair since I was in the wrong line.
While I was sitting I noted that they were having some serious issues with a customer they were serving. I felt bad for the customer representatives as I could tell this was an issue they could only so far with helping him due to their company policies. There were two-​three customer representatives helping him who were all extremely stressed out.
It’s my turn to go to the main customer representative who was at an all-​time high of stressing out. I was being really nice considering she just went through some BS and letting her go completely at her pace while I hung around on my phone. I needed a signature card & a debit card, which I kindly told her, because although I signed up for my account two weeks ago, neither had arrived in the mail.
Everytime she took my license to me or responded to me, she huffed and puffed like I was the one who had freaked her out. I ignored it because it seemed like she went through a bad time with the last consumer. She would slam my license on the table when she grabbed it or bang at her keyboard. Then when she went to get my debit card, she took at least 5 minutes and when I looked around she was just standing at the other side of the bank looking mad. Then she comes back– whole time looking mad again/​slamming around whatever she can– and gives me my debit card. I ask nicely– um, don’t I have to sign a signature card– she goes annoyingly– you don’t have a signature card?
Why yes, that is one of the two things I said I needed as soon as I sat down, and yes, you should know this as a customer representative without the customer having to tell you. Luckily, I had called TD Bank beforehand who told me what I needed. If something ever happened to my debit card, I’m assuming this customer representative would have gotten in trouble for issuing my debit card without a debit card.
Anyways, she huffed and puffed while she inconveniently gave me a signature card form to sign. At this point I started to get slight anxiety with the intense energy she was feeding off this entire time.
Dear TD Bank lady, I understand your last customer was a monster but don’t treat me like one when 1) I was nothing but nice and accomodating during this way too long of an experience and 2) I told you exactly what I needed/​how to implement proper controls of your job.
I kind of regret signing up for TD Bank… I don’t want to be vented at whenever I go to a TD bank.

Not my favorite branch, but it’s only a couple of blocks from my office so it does the job when I need it to.
But geez, this place is always crowded, often times with teller lines and ATM lines out the door. The line for the 3 ATMs will be spiraled around in the lobby some times, it’s really ridiculous. And of course at least one of the ATMs is almost always out of service. Depending on the crowd, it can be faster to just go up to the teller, but not usually.
I mean what the hell, are they giving away money and I’m just not aware? As with many other things the bank itself is fine, it’s the local customers that make it unbearable. It shouldn’t take 30 minutes to use an ATM machine.
At least the people working customer service are always very friendly and helpful. Otherwise I don’t like to come in here if I don’t have to.

Slow service and at least one coin machine is usually broken. Today both were broken and they don’t have any other method to deposit coins.

They have the coin counter machines! And these machines are awesome because you get all your money back (if you are a TD customer!). Broke my piggy bank (it was an old svedka bottle with money) and this place counted it for me! It made my day.
Either than that, it’s just a bank! Lines are long during lunch time and right after work but it’s in the financial district so it makes sense.

Great customer service! The tellers aren’t so helpful but the advisors and analysts are really friendly and helpful, they’ll answer all your questions in a very professional manner. This branch also is clean and features a self-​playing piano with nice music.

No parking! Slow tellers and average customer service. Don’t let the slogan confuse you, it’s not that convenient. There also is no drive thru. Hours are 8am to 8pm. They do have a nice grand piano in the lobby.

It’s your standard understaffing situation here. This bank needs more tellers, as there is always a long line.

TD Bank on Wall Street has a nice lobby and nice employees. The self-​playing piano is a nice touch.
I was a long time customer of Bank of America and recently switched to TD Bank and I am very glad I did. Bank of America has a better website (Why for example, does TD only save two months of checking account history? Are their servers that small?) but overall TD Bank is far superior. TD Bank has better branch hours, better phone support, lower fees, and much better level of service.
On the day I was closing on a loan, I also met a beautiful woman outside the bank entrance so that helps too!

I generally avoid going inside at this bank because there is typically a long line and the security people will ask for your ID while you’re in line. At least they did do this a couple of years ago when I had to go inside at this location. I generally prefer the ATM since it’s less crowded, although if you go here at certain times of day you will be standing in a decent sized line. Sometimes, the line gets so long it winds around in that section.
The location is convenient but if I had my pick, I’d go to a different branch.

omg. so someone miskeyed an account number on a withdrawal slip and ended up debiting my account $ 1,080.
It was fixed rather quickly after I noticed it after receiving my statements. But still.
REALLY? What is their hiring process and how do they screen these people?

Friendly bank tellers, fairly clean, with a security guard at the front entrance. Dog-​friendly with biscuits available by the teller and water by the ATM machines. 3 ATM machines are available with one capable of depositing, the other 2 only for cash withdrawals. This place can get very busy during lunch hours, so if you intend to go to the tellers, plan on going before or after lunch.
Customer service can be reaaaal slow, I’ve experienced times where they are cooperative and helpful while other time’s when they just don’t care one bit.
