Tache Artisan Chocolate is a new chocolaterie & café on the Lower East Side of Manhattan where truffles, bon bons and other confections are made in the downstairs chocolate factory daily. Stop by for a free tour of their chocolate factory, pick up a box of chocolates or sit down and enjoy a cup of their delicious hot cocoa. Or if you are truly a chocolate lover, take one of their famous chocolate making classes. Offered to both kids and adults, learn how to temper, coat, properly taste & decorate chocolate, making treats like specialty-molded chocolates, caramel kisses, bon bons and mendients.
Reservations available for a lovely fondue or high tea for two or more. Call for information.
Sandwiches, salads, pastries, coffee & tea are also served.
History
Established in 2012.
Formally Christian Vautier Le Concept, Tache Artisan Chocolate was started by pastry chef Aditi Malhotra in September 2012. A graduate of the Glion Institute in Switzerland, The French Culinary Institute and winner of Zagat’s 30 Under 30 Award.
The shop has had write ups in The New York Times, Time Out, The Huffington Post, The Village Voice, Business Insider, Serious Eats and was invited to showcase chocolate at The New York Chocolate Show in November 2012, one of the most esteemed chocolate shows in the world.
Renaming the company in September of 2012, Tache Artisan Chocolate made its debut as the chocolate caterer for The New York City Ballet Fall Gala Honoring Valentino.
Also famous for its many chocolate-making classes, which have gained the attention of The New York Times and Time Out Kids.
Tache’s name comes from the french word «tache» which means spot, stain or smudge. When it comes to Aditi, she always has a «tache» of chocolate smeared all over her chef’s coat.
