Sunshine Color Lab

It’a a small and weird lab, but they are quick and efficient. They develop film in a few hours and they have fair prices. Haven’t have any problems so far. It’s not perfect but it dose what’s it’s meant to do. Quick, good quality and good prices. I hope they stay open!

Great lab, very reliable, whatever developers they use are great as well, keeps the grain tight even with a 2 stop push. Thanks guys!

So I went there a couple of months ago and they LOST my NEGATIFS and instead of mine they gave me a random girl’s photos of a drunken night out. SERIOUSLY!!! I called them a couple of times and the guy didn’t even apologize or offered me my money back or anything! NEVER go there guys, I’m a photo student and they just lost my work. AND they made me pay! Horrible customer service.

I moved to NYC 4 months ago and I work at B&H and I’ve been using Sunshine since the start. I only use them for process only since I scan all my own work but I’ve never had a messed up negative of any kind. If you go in the morning you can get your negs picked up that afternoon. I send everyone here at least for process only if you need a quick, inexpensive place to get your work dev’d.

Terrible terrible terrible! Terribly rude I must say. I was waiting outside for 40minutes because I had to bring my film to school that day and they were not open on the time it was supposed to be, and when the owner came, I at least expected him to apologize, but he did not care to say he was sorry and instead he was looking at me saying «What! Its new york, what do you expect?»
I could not believe my ears.
I do NOT recommend at all!

I wanted two 8×10 photos printed and they charged me $ 27.22!!!
ARE YOU KIDDING? And a $ 5 Scan charge?
That’s ridiculous.
The man was very condescending when I took my negatives and said I would print it myself. «Oh, you’ll print it yourself? From a negative? Right.»
Actually, yes. I will print it myself from a negative. I’m a photo student at FIT, I’m very sure I can do it myself.

I don’t know whether this lab does good work or not, I just know I would NEVER NEVER use them. I wasn’t looking to do anything elaborate — just a simple transfer of 16 mm film to dvd. It took me days to get any any information. At first I spoke to some guy named Jesus who seemd totally lost or stoned or something. He couldn’t answer the most basic questions. I asked if there was anyone there who could help and he told me to speak to Randy, who as it turns out is only there after 5 and until 8. After days of calling I finally reached Randy who had no clue as to what I needed done. He said he had never worked with such a large order (really? two hours of film?). Again I asked if there was someone else I could speak to. He told me to speak to the owner, Manny. I asked when Manny was in and was told that Manny only comes in when there is a job so I should just drop off the material and then Manny could maybe answer my questions. Note to Manny: either be more hands on or find other personnel. My footage is too valuable to hand it over to such incompetents. Dealing with this business felt like a trip to the Twilight Zone.

Had an A+ experience recently at Sunshine Color Lab. Randy and Jesus were super helpful and well informed. Their prices are competitive, the work they did was high quality, and it was finished when they said it would be. What a pleasure!

Fantastic, friendly, and reliable. They have on many occasion helped me determine how much to push and pull, exposure settings next time, etc. They go that extra mile when requested. Their prices are compatible, and the dunk processing definitely helps. I’ve been going for years and look forward to continuing my patron ship there.

I’ve been to several labs in NYC to get filmed processed and printed. Without a doubt, Sunshine has always been fast and reliable with very competitive prices.
Christopher G. recommends CRC but I say STAY AWAY. They changed their «policies» on me each time I went and were very expensive for my student budget. Sunshine, on the other hand, was very clear as to when they could have my film done — which was usually same day, a real wow.
Will keep on going there for all of my film processing needs. Thanks guys!
UPDATE: still love these guys, but last time I went they were damn pushy! I only wanted film processed and it is like they could not take no for an answer on getting cds made! Come in with a steel will because they clearly wanted to make more money. (Stars changed from 5 to 4)

biggest pos lab in the city!!! they do have a fast return time. i developed five rolls. when i got my film back three of the rolls had wholes in the 36^th exposure right in the middle of the frame!!! and in one of the rolls there is a thin scratch in the middle of half the roll. i will never go there again. i recomend crc

Cheap, clean, FAST dip and dunk processing. I’ve only developed a few rolls here, but it seems that they’re a great cheaper alternative to the big labs a few blocks south. It seems they do other services here too– minilab prints and scanning– but I haven’t tried them out. Happy that less expensive labs like this still exist in the neighborhood!
