Subway Management

My experience with Subway Management relates to Danielle, Karla, and Ari. Back in September 2015, my roommates and I were apartment hunting. These folks were the most professional and nice brokers that we dealt with. They made themselves available, listened to our requirements, and showed us some solid properties. We eventually settled on an awesome space thanks to the team. They threw an awesome Halloween party for their tenants with an open bar so bonus points for that. There were only a few things that were off-​putting. There was a lot pressure to put a deposit down on our space, but the sense of urgency didn’t seem justified seeing as we were the first group to move into our building by almost a month. After the deposit was made, there was a mix up relating to some funds that should’ve been returned to me, but Ari handled it promptly, but only after I reached out to him. Overall, you should give these guys a shot if you’re in the market and be sure to go to any of their parties if you sign a lease through them.

My experience with subway management was excellent! The rented me an apartment in Brooklyn and were friendly and professional the whole way through!

As a recent transplant from San Francisco, my biggest fear was working with a realty group because of all the horror stories. I’m sure we’ve all heard them before. After working with Ari and the other realtors from Subway Management, I am happy to say that everything worked out perfectly and would recommend them to anyone looking to move. I was able to find a home away from home, all thanks to Subway Management!

By far, the best realty group I’ve ever come across in NYC! I had the privilege to work with both Will and Ari who provided excellent customer service, made the application process smooth and easy, and had my roommates and I move in to a beautiful duplex 4 bedroom in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
Not only did they find us a very affordable place, but they sure know what their clients want and need! Even after a month of moving in, they are still checking up on us to ask how the place is going and if we need anything else.
I can’t ask for any other better realtors to work with! I HIGLY RECOMMEND you use them if you are looking for an apartment in NYC!

Really shitty bunch of idiots working here that don’t dare look you in the eye when they messed up big time.
I called one of their agents to view a place and before even agreeing to go and see the place I had asked him if they accepted international guarantors as I was aware most places don’t and the agent said they do. He even gave me an example saying there was once a Italian guy that rented a place through them and he used his dad as an international guarantor.
So I went ahead and viewed the place. Really liked it and decided to put down a deposit to hold it and went ahead and started getting all the paperwork in order and sent it to them. I get an email the next day saying «we realize you are attempting to use an international guarantor, unfortunately we don’t accept international guarantors.»
I wasted a whole day going to view this place and filling out the paperwork all along under the impression that my dad could be my international guarantor. Also they were so nonchalant when they told me they don’t accept international guarantor. Even their apology didn’t sound sincere.
The main guy working there, Eric is a piece of shit. When I went to take back my deposit, I had to wait a good 15mins for this idiot to find my deposit and he was dealing with all his other clients. When you fuck up you apologize and you make the person your top most priorities but oh now I am no longer their client so they take their own sweet time.
This might not affect any Americans trying to use company to rent an apartment but INTERNATIONALS please be aware of their very uncatering attitude towards us. Also they wanted a 6 month downpayment for the place when the guarantor thing fell through, most other companies only ask for four.

Subway realty is great! Katrina and Karla found us just the place we were looking for with no brokers fee! It had all the criteria plus in our budget. Come sign the lease Ari and Eric helped us to negotiate just what we needed: ie laundry, permission to have a cat. Thank you subway realty for finding us our new beautiful home !!!

These guys helped me out so much. I was going through some major life changes, moving out of a shared home and back to the city. Anyone who’s moved more than 2 hours away knows how hard it can be to schedule viewings and signings while out of town — Subway made it really easy. Danielle was my realtor, and I ended up with a great apartment after only 1 day of viewings. Would certainly recommend if you are looking to get a place fast.

I cannot recommend this company enough! I’m a musician that needed a very specific place to suit our needs. We looked everywhere and couldn’t find the right place. Then we called Subway Management and they were extremely helpful.
We are now living in a place under great management in the perfect neighborhood, Again, I can’t stress how great this company is!

I’ve rented through subway management for 2 years now and they have always been incredibly friendly and helpful! When we had an issue with an apartment we were living at, we called subway and they jumped right up to help us find an awesome new place! My roommates and I LOVE LOVE LOVE our apartment and would recommend subway management to anyone!

Three apartments later, and Subway Management still wins my heart for best broker in Brooklyn. Apartment hunting can be a nightmare elsewhere — from scheming brokers, potentially murderous Craigslist showings, and shlepping around looking at place after place.
I haven’t had one bad experience with Subway. Ari and Tanya take care of us every time. They listen to budget concerns, neighborhood requests, you name it. And even throughout the term of the lease, they keep in touch to make sure everything is going well and everyone is happy.
I don’t know any other companies who are as straightforward and genuine as Subway. Would recommend to anyone apartment hunting in the city (they even do roommate matching). Not to mention the wicked parties they throw in their office — ahem, Mansion!

I’ve been meaning to write a review for Subway for a few months now as they continue to show great service to this day. Ari and his team really care about their tenants and want to see them happy in their new place. If there are issues, they won’t become distance like some places might post lease signing as I have experienced in the past. They’re very responsive and helpful.
I initially worked with Fillip who showed me various apartments. He definitely paid close attention to my concerns and was able to find a great spot for me in Bushwick. He’s extremely personable and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend working with him.
There were a couple basic hiccups upon moving in since the place was newly renovated but they were rectified pretty quickly once I reached out to the maintenance team. They manage a lot of properties but still give equal attention to all their tenants. There’s also no broker’s fees!
If you plan to go through a reality and are interested in Brooklyn, I can’t recommend them enough.

Very poor experience with Subway. Viewed an apartment twice before asking for an application. The application was emailed to me and on filling it in, I received confirmation that the application was being processed. I had a couple of questions so I emailed back. I received no response from anyone in the office, and my attempts to contact Wayne, who showed me the apartment went unanswered. Not impressed, my only relief is that I didn’t give them any money.

Karla was so sweet and helpful! She was able to answer all of my questions, and made a lot of suggestions that made this stressful process a real breeze! I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking to make the big move to Brooklyn!

Had a wonderful experience with Subway Management. My boyfriend saw a Subway Management sign on a building, so I went on the website and contacted Ari. He emailed me back within minutes, and within 24 hours, we were out looking at apartments. He really listened to what I was liking and not liking in the apartments he showed me so that he could show me only apartments that would work for me. He showed me 3 great options, and within 3 days, we had a lease signed. If you’re looking for a quick, efficient, no hassle company to help you find your apartment, Subway Management is the one!

I’ve worked pretty close with Ari and some other people at Subway Management on my housing. They’ve been super helpful in negotiating our lease and have very friendly staff! My roommates and I are renewing our lease with their help and are looking forward to another great year in Brooklyn! keep up the good work and positive vibes! hope to see you at the mansion soon.

Angela Schipano was great! She was quick at processing everything and setting up a meeting with the owner of our complex. She was also very flexible at showing us the apartment, last minute. She was full of information about the unit, area and transportation and ultimately went the extra mile. Overall everything was quick, smoothe and painless. I definitely recommend her and Subway to all our friends and colleagues in New York.

The whole staff at subway was awesome! They were all well informed about the properties they showed us and really helped us through the whole process.
This is my first time looking for an apartment and I honestly cannot believe how fast and easy it all was. Angela Schipano especially was awesome, she put up with all of our crazy emails and texts trying to lock down our apartment and walked us through all the steps.
I would highly recommend them to all of my friends and definitely would work with them again for my next apartment!

Before I moved to Brooklyn, I did a little scouting mission to look for possible places to live. I happened upon a craigslist ad that advertised rooms in an old mansion in Bushwick. I emailed a guy named Eric about it, and he promptly scheduled an appointment with me to see it.
I took the J train out there, and checked the place out. It was really cool! They had restored this old 1800s house with all of the original mouldings and millwork, and turned it into their office, with rentable units above. Eric was very helpful, and he remembered me when I came back 3 months later, with my 2 suitcases, fresh off the airplane, looking for a place to live.
I picked a room on the top floor, signed a little month-​to-​month agreement, paid, and moved my stuff in the same day. I got to know all of the people who lived there really well, and made some good friends. There were three other rooms on the top floor, and 3 or 4 on the 2^nd floor. Each floor had its own kitchen and bathroom, which worked out pretty well, because if someone was ever in the bathroom then you could go to another floor and use that one.
I ended up living at the mansion for 3 months, and could have easily stayed longer. Part of me wishes that I did. It was a really fun place to live, with new stuff always going on, and plenty of chances to meet new and interesting people. The staff is always putting on parties, or rounding people up to go to Karaōke at the bar on the corner (the neighborhood around the Halsey/​Gates stop on the J is gentrifying quickly, with new places opening up, and soymilk now available at the Key Foods… so now there are actually places to go out in the area). The people who work there and live there have a pretty cool relationship, often sitting and chatting, but then getting back to work when they have to. The porch was a fun place to sit and gossip, smoke a few cigarettes and then head out to work or whatever.
I ended up leaving the mansion because I had another opportunity to live in a property managed by Subway. I wasn’t actually on the lease for this apartment either, but the place is nice, has a Manhattan view, and is closer to my work, so I jumped on it. But would definitely recommend the mansion to anyone who needs a medium-​term living situation in Brooklyn, and Subway Management to anyone who needs a more stable apartment in the area. Ask for Ari, Eric, or Tanya to show you some apartments, and then maybe I’ll see you at one of their parties they throw for the tenants 3 – 4 times a year.

Don’t use subway management if you intend on having reliable utilities. They work with a company called «greenrock property services,» whose office, as it turns out, is a fucking PO box. But it gets worse. My father, an attorney, had to re-​write the lease because it was so god awful. It was clearly written by amateurs who barely speak English and was riddled with spelling and grammatical issues, and it also held us accountable for paying for ANYTHING that breaks. Thus, rewriting of the lease. What’s funny is that subway didn’t even give a shit that we altered the lease. Their overall attitude is, «ah, fuck it.»
None of these people know what they’re talking about. When I moved in, there were paint cans and building supplies left over. We couldn’t even access the bottom cabinet (which we desperately need because the kitchen space is pathetic) because the carpenter, a term I apply generously, positioned the handle such that the refrigerator blocked the opening. It took them about 2 weeks to get all their shit out and «fix» the cabinet, which we still cannot fully open.
Why did I sign this lease? Well, there is no broker fee, which is why I’m giving one star, although at this point I doubt that I’ll see my security deposit again. I was looking for an affordable place to stay for a year in order to save money, but now I wish I had looked a little harder. Yeah, they’re «super nice,» but when I’m throwing down that much money, I would prefer professionalism over «super nice.»

Absolutely horrible experience, similar to what another person wrote. Viewed a place where the agent, Wayne, told me that he could meet with us Sunday morning, where we were going to to put a deposit down for the place. The next morning I get an email saying that he will meet with us Monday morning instead and sends me the application so that I can have it prepared.
Move ahead to Monday morning (only 30 MINUTES before we are supposed to meet!!) and the agent emails me to tell me that someone else put a deposit down Sunday night. If I wasn’t able to put a deposit down Sunday morning, how was someone else able to put one down late Sunday night? My only guess would be that perhaps the other agents in this place are more on top of their game than Wayne.
Now we are 6 days away from moving out of our current apartment with no place to go.
My suggestion would be that if you email this company and start dealing with Wayne, either request someone else or run to another company.
