Heard their mochas were something of a miracle, and I wasn’t too disappointed(miracle mochas still live in and belong to New Orleans. Sorry NY.) A decent, dark, mocha was whipped up for me pretty quickly despite the long line(it moved fast.) Their almond croissant is murder-worthy if you like a subtle nutty flavor and fluffy-yet-crispy croissants bathed in butter. No seats in this location — just a counter by the window, so seek seating inside the hotel lobby or take your treats to go! I’ll certainly be back to try their cold brew next time.

Sought out this place based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews and I wasn’t disappointing. Ordered the macchiato, and I mistakenly thought I was ordering a latte macchiato but was very happy with my café macchiato none the less. It had a lovely velvety top and the espresso smooth full flavor with a nice acidic kick. No bitterness of course. The only downside(aside from the price but what are you going to do?) is the café’s the lack of seats. It is a small space, and patrons can sit in the dark, windowless lobby of the adjoining Ace Hotel but I would have loved to have had at least a stool to perch on by the large windows. You can stand by the windows and set your coffee on the ledge. I just would have liked to have like the opportunity linger over my coffee, rather than sip and dash, ah well. Just been once but wishing there was a stumptown local to me.

A great hangout spot for coffee and Internet if you can find a seat! A hotspot for hipsters and their laptops. I come here a recharge and for silky black coffee. Sometimes the line is out the door. I used to come here when it wasn’t as jam packed with people. But despite the crowd I’d still come here just for the coffee.

I’m not even a huge coffee fan and their cold brew is phenom — Stumptown is famous for a reason! Not to mention it’s located in the Ace hotel so you can sit and relax in their amazing lobby with leather couches and open seating with your beverage. If you’re a coffee fan this needs to be number one on your list!

Favorite coffee place in the city. I would wake up in the morning and crave it enough to drive all the way there to get some. It puts most of the other coffee to shame… It’s connected to the lobby area at the Ace Hotel. You can order to stay and find a nice comfortable couch to lounge within the lobby area. There’s going to be a line pretty much anytime during the day, but it does move pretty quickly. Mocha is excellent as it’s tremendously smooth without being overly sweet. Cold brew on nitro is perfect for the summer season! A keeper.

Their cold brew draft is perfect for my taste. It taste a bit water downed and not as strong as Starbucks.

This review is as much for the Stumptown coffee as it is for the Ace Hotel lobby/lounge area that it’s connected to. Despite its fairly busy location, this Stumptown location is one of my favorite coffee spots in the city. Pick up your drink at the front, where the coffee bar is located, and then hang out by the standing-room-only bar or head into the Ace Hotel lobby for seating. Inside, there’s ample space and wifi, but at the cost of a much darker atmosphere(as in there’s very little lighting). Coffee-wise, this is standard, A+ Stumptown material. The coffee is strong, a little pricey, and high-quality. If it’s your first time, I highly recommend the cold brew. It’s what got me started on drinking my coffee black: a little fruity, not too acidic, and highly complex and flavorful. Overall, highly recommend for both the coffee and the atmosphere.

Iced latte. Dark light. Interesting vibe. Soooo many people were studying or reading in darkness.

Great coffee and a beautiful, sunny space. Unfortunately, that’s somewhat offset by diffident service and an out-of-date credit card payment system that slows everything down. Definitely worth a stop if you’ve got time to kill, but not if you’re even remotely in a hurry. Prices all comparable to this type of modern coffeehouse.

I wish stumptown was closer to where I work. I usually go with a macchiato, but the cold brew on tap is always a solid choice as well. If you get a chance to try the nitro infused cold brew as well, I would highly suggest it as you cannot find that many other places. There usually is a line but it moves pretty quickly.

I googled«places that are open late to study» and this place came up. Then I came here and found it a little disappointing. First, the coffee shop is purely to buy coffee, tea or «hot cocoa» as there are no seats; the seating area can be found in the lounge area of the Ace Hotel which is adjacent to the coffee shop and can be accessed through the lounge area. I ordered the«hot cocoa» and it was ok but I threw it out half full because I just didn’t feel like drinking it anymore. Once your in the lounge area seating is limited(it was jam packed the day I went but I got lucky because someone was leaving just as I was walking near them… my NY moment! Ha!). The lighting is very dim so don’t bother reading in ample light(I was there around 5pm). People are always coming and going because duh it’s a hotel and people check in and check out at all hours of the day! And it’s super noisy! One thing that I found interesting was that there were servers taking orders for people; be it coffee or appetizers etc. It didn’t strike me as a restaurant/coffee place. I left feeling very confused and with very little work done!

Quaint little coffee shop. Short and simple: Baristas know what they’re doing /what they’re talking about, Coffee is a good price $ 3-$ 5, and their shop isn’t too crowded /has a nice aesthetic. Get the cold brew coffee, it’s pretty strong but it’s what I needed to get through my day.

Really great coffee here. I’m a big fan. I’m a coffee snob. I’ll admit it. But this one I’d recommend! Conveniently located right next to the famous Ace Hotel, Stumptown coffee offers not only regular espressos, but also cold brews and tasty pastries. The only grip I have is that there are no seats!!!

Another running day treat for myself… stumptown coffee! Conveniently located right next to the famous Ace Hotel, Stumptown coffee offers not only regular espressos, but also cold brews and tasty pastries. Holding a cup of Americano in front of the window and seeing yellow cabs passing by is simply as close as I could think of a typical life in New York!

I wish I could say this is my favorite secret spot but there is always a line out the door! The shop is located at The Ace Hotel, which is a trendy spot that attracts all walks of life. Not to mention, their free wifi tends to attract people too! But yes, it is rare to visit Stumptown when there isn’t a line but it typically moves fast. I end up browsing the various bags of beans on the shelf walls. I also like to see what different cold beverages they have in their fridge case. It’s pretty neat that they have their nitro cold brew in cans. You can even get them in a four pack! They also have cartons of their coffee with milk and it comes in a holiday spice flavor in the winter. I usually order a latte to stay since I love their cups. The coffee saucer says, «good luck» and the inside of the cup has a Stumptown logo too. The coffees are a perfect temperature and the lattes aren’t watered down by the milk. There is still a bold espresso flavor, which is what I like. They also have various pastries from bakeries around the city in the glass case under the register. I like ordering the strawberry pop tart because it isn’t too sweet and cuts the espresso flavor. There isn’t any artificial coloring or flavors either.

Hipster’s paradise. 1) I got the mocha with cream, it was excellent. 2) Service is great. 3) Ambiance is great.

Considering there were about 8 people in line ahead of us, things move fairly fast. Décor is clean without seating. Standing room only here. I had a latte with vanilla syrup(my usual). It was slightly acidic with a nice sweet finish. Barista was appropriately friendly. Located adjacent to the lobby of the ACE hotel. Cash and plastic accepted.

Busy. Busy. Busy. Kinda chaotic, but it is at a hotel lobby. You can have a caffeine fix then head to the photo booth. The one in the village is a lot better. Lots of confused hotel guests with their suitcases. Service is not great, even for Stumptown’s grumpy standards. No seating besides the lobby, but semi-descent lighting by the window if you must take a picture of your coffee.

The coffee beans are somewhat of an institution, almost an acquired taste for many, being more acidic than other blends. The latte or cappuccino are usually good, this time the barista was not in the right mood, the drink came out a bit disjointed. I’ve had great cappuccinos at Stumptown before, I’m fine with the occasional dud. The place has no seating area, so you drink«by the bar», like Italians would do(hence cafes are called«bars» in Italy). While I was at it, I also tried their mini cartons of cold brews. The chocolate coffee with milk is surprisingly good, not too sweet, with the right balance between the two flavors. They have a full selection, very tempted to test the rest of the collection. I mostly love the area(the Breslin is around the corner) and the vibe of the Ace hotel. When close by, Stumptown is a necessary pit stop.

I have always been a fan of Stumptown; they have consistently been one of my favorite independent, 3rd wave coffee roasters along with Blue Bottle, Ceremony Coffee, Intelligentsia, and Counter Culture. Located inside the Ace Hotel, this Stumptown is bright and Pinterest-worthy. White walls; shelves of succulents, rows of coffee bags, mugs, Chemex and other brewing equipment, protected by brass rods. Chalkboards list the various drinks. Ordered a cold brew and Nitro brew to go. Talk about good, strong coffee. No need for cream and sugar. Work/study space attached to Stumptown in the Ace Hotel lobby. Tables, reading lamps, couches, and comfy chairs.

Great coffee in Town?
