I don’t get it when people say, «I’m not into fashion, I wear what’s comfortable«. Actually Felecia, unless you are a homeless person or a child, you have a choice in what you want to wear and that choice IS your style. It says who you are and you made that choice all by yourself. So, you are… into fashion, just your version of it. Sorry for the rant, but I needed some filler. This is a men’s store that has the good classic styles. They have their own brand as well as select items form other designers. If you are looking for that classic, All American, WASPY look with a modern silhouette then you will like this joint. Small, well curated items from head to toe with helpful sales associates in a very tiny confined space. I hate department stores. I love small boutiques and I have a found great accessories, shoes, etc… here. It’s a must when strolling through the area. Best part is, afterward you can go next door for some tacos and corn on the cob, Felecia.

One of my favorite stores of all time. I’ve been a customer since I was twenty, and ten years later, love their style selection just as much. SA carries a perfect selection of brands and styles for the urban woman who wants to be effortlessly stylish, and wear pieces that are comfortable, understated, yet feminine. I love all the brands they carry, including some of my favorites(Sessun, A.P.C., Edith Miller). Sales staff are always warm, pleasant yet not pushy. One salesperson even took the time to send me a handwritten postcard following a recent visit, thanking me for my business. Now that’s how you build customer loyalty! Never change, SA!

One of my favorite clothing stores. Small, intimate, with beautiful clothes. Steven Alan items are about subtle, creative detailing and excellent cut.

Smaller selection at this store(vs. say Atlantic avenue) and this store mainly carries their label but did see a smattering of other brands. Steven Alan lets me channel my inner farm girl. Plaids, ginghams, wooden buttons, draw strings, no lining. Except I would not be wearing these $ 285 dresses to collect eggs or brush horses.

I stumbled across the TINY Men’s side of this. Adorable really. Enough room for a 1-person changing room, the cashier, and maybe 2 people browsing the shelves… Regardless: Steven Alan makes the best shirts known to man, and this closet showcased that. They also had some pants and underwear. Great service. The attendant obviously knew a lot about menswear in general and had good suggestions for other places to go in the area for other clothes. Felt about as boutiquey as I can handle, and I loved it. I’d say worth the money if you can spare it(and if not, UNIQLO’s not far off!)

The store is small, but they carry a great selection of the current season’s styles/patterns. The staff is really wonderful(my favorite of the several SA stores in the city). I was trying on a pullover shirt on an extremely hot and humid day, so it ended up being quite a process… The sales-girl was attentive but not in an invasive or creepy way, and she answered my simple style questions. I have tons of Steven Alan shirts, and they’ve all maintained themselves pretty well(and work through the different seasons).

Small store in Nolita, and they only carry the Steven Alan brand(unlike the Tribeca location). But when I say they only carry the namesake brand, I mean that in a good way. I heart Steve Alan, and their clothes for both guys and gals are casual, city prepster, and relatively affordable. I’m a fan of his button downs, look good tucked in, even better not, paired with jeans. So while the store is small, they only need to display one of each garment, and they keep all the sizes in back. My sales person was ready to find that perfect fit.
