Went there on a Sunday night to grab a slice in the middle of my shift. One of the guys behind the counter was incredibly rude to me for absolutely no reason. He was short, Latino(maybe Mexican) and had on sunglasses even though he was indoors. Anyway, when he asked if my order was to stay or to go I said to go, then he asked if I wanted it on a plate or wrapped up. WTF does that mean? I asked him to put it on a plate and in a paper bag and he mumbled something under his breath like, «That’s what I said …» Then as I was standing there waiting for my order he said, «I told you 30 minutes ago that your food was ready …» as he pointed to a bag on the counter. I asked him why he had an attitude and he insisted he doesn’t, then I called him a d – k and walked out. I always come here because the food is good but never again. It’s NYC, there’s a pizzeria on every corner.

Delicious pizza! I came down for the week from California and I must say, this is the best pizza! I recommend it :)

Sunday night munchies and i drove down to chelsea to find a legit slice. Artichoke was closed and there was a parking spot right in front of stella’s. Glad i stopped in. This is a quintessential new york slice. Thin, big crispy crust. The sauce is spicy!!! Yummmm great great sauce. I can taste some quality in the ingredients. Thank you. 4.25 for each Pepperoni slice. The cheese is average this pizza is for sauce lovers for sure. The crust gets slightly dry but decent nonetheless.

Absolutely positively awful. Post snow storm– ordered a pie from Stella’s, hadn’t came for an hour, called the shop, had the proper address and phone number on file, said they came buzzed and called never got any of it. Asked for a new pie, got chewed out and accused of lying. Awful awful awful. don’t care how good the pizza is will never be back and will tell everyone

I liked the location of this place as its right outside of my favorite hotel the Dream Downtown. The Value of the pizza is unreal. I think they had a $ 5 special which was 2 slices and a soda. Awesome !

Solid pizza! I came here on a lunch break and went for the 2 slices and a drink lunch special. I didn’t know the minimum was 10 dollars for card, but as a courtesy they let me pay with card anyway! Awesome! I’m apprehensive about pizza at times, but I enjoyed my two slices. Solid ratio of cheese to sauce, served hot! I’ll definitely return when I have a chance!

We ordered after a late movie, and the pizza was perfect. Really hit the spot. However, the calzone we ordered was pretty bland. Apparently you have to pay extra for marinara sauce, which seems strange. But whatever. Good pizza for sure.

Yet another failed relationship. I never expected to be breaking up with Stella’s but no one goes into a relationship with a pizza place expecting it to ever end. It was near love at first sight many years ago. I once believed dream dust flowed freely from the red pepper shakers and now I have a bad taste in my mouth. Stella’s all but announces its potential with its narrow footprint and hole-in-the-wall vibe. This is not contrived either. We’re talking eight slippery bar stools that once housed glitter beneath the thick plastic. My once happy ass sat on glitter back in the day! What more could one want? UHHHH… Staff that aren’t douchebags and pizza that is not gross Please note: there are at least two Unilocal on here that claim food poisoning. Just noting that for all you pizza lovers that like to play craps with loaded dice. Year by year, this place has gotten notably worse at about the rate of the boobs of a binge eating, off-cycle, steroid abuser. In the last year or two, they’ve gone Mach V in their efforts at self destruction. Having lived in Chelsea for the better part of twenty years, it’s sad to see a place like this fall off harder than Mill Vanilli. The pizza now looks and tastes like it’s on life support. My most recent experience causes me to think that they are aware of the problem and are taking a proactive stance to conceal and deny what they are hoping you’ll put in your mouth and chew. Game On and Game Over My two most recent experiences were the impetus to Unilocal and share my misery. My penultimate visit was two slices of plain pizza where the crust broke like brittle cardboard and tasted less appealing. Then the encore. My bon voyage came the other night. I asked what pizza last came out of the oven. As someone raised in Manhattan, the Bronx and Northern New Jersey, that question is a part of the vernacular of any pizza eating native. It’s typically not a question of freshness but one of temperature. Many of us like our pizza in varying degrees of warmth and I for one, try to get pizza that I don’t have to send back into the oven. I also like lukewarm pizza. The answer I got was«come on bro, everything is fresh.» This actually caused me to look down at the pizza that was on display. It didn’t look fresh at all actually– it looked like ass. I should have immediately realized he was being defensive for trying to move some over the hill ‘zza. I’ve never gotten anyone who refused to answer this innocuous query. I tried being polite–«I know it’s fresh. I just want to know if anything’s warm and what came out last.» He paused and clearly didn’t want to answer until he reluctantly said, «It all came out at the same time.» I said, «at the exact same time?» By the looks of the curled up crap and hardened remains of what once was nearly pizza, I realized that it may have alll come out on the exact same day and the employee forgot his calendar. Exact same time? He said, «yeah.» I left. The guy serving pizza seriously did not want to answer about… PIZZA. Maybe they can afford to rely on drunk people coming in late at night to blindly pay $ 5 a slice for crappy pizza that costs a fraction of that at all other times or… maybe everyone will wake up and not bother with this stupidity.

Its OK pizza. I got the buffalo chicken. Its just average pizza for your late night needs. Not many places one the west side that I’d choose to get a quick slice. I do think it was bit too expensive for the slice itself.

It’s a big small of a pizza joint, but it is in NYC. I have to admit they do a fantastic job of making quality pizza’s. I ordered a whole chicken bacon ranch. It was great! I have to admit, I love pizza and that is probably one of the top 10 spots in NYC and on Long Island. Bravo and highly recommend!

Loved my plain cheese slice! Perfectly crispy crust and flavorful sauce. Definitely will be my go to place for a NY style slice in this hood!

$ 5 lunch special is a drink plus two slices of cheese. The sauce has a little basil which gives it some extra awesome flavor. This is exactly what you’d expect from a New York pizza joint. Small spot with a few bar stools serving up only a handful of selections but doing it well. Most importantly, the crust is hand tossed and delicious. Not fancy, not cheap, but authentic. Been here nearly 20 times and am never unsatisfied

I had the margharita pizza slice and it was good. Only recommendation is to put basil leaves on after oven heating. as the leaves brown and lose flavor from the extreme oven heat.

Thin crust, fresh & delicious sauce. Friendly service. One yummy slice of pepperoni and a medium soda for 4.90 –came here after working out at my Equinox gym on the High Line, then bought myself a Lotto ticket, at the kiosk, from across the street from Stella’s Pizza. Perfect sequence of events. Small dining area, but seats were available & windows open for a refreshing Spring breeze. Pepperoni pizza was so good, that I ordered another one & the staff offered to refill my soda for free. I love friendly neighborhood establishments like this. Fun decour and very clean! I’ll return here before I go back to Artichoke pizza because Artichokes crust is thicker than I prefer. My first time here at Stella’s. I like this place & it’s only one block away from where I live. There’s a steady flow of people coming in to order a slice & the clients seem local. That means this place gets return business. Pizza pies in the case for viewing look fresh & inviting. No burnt crusts here

I was really excited that this place was open at 2 am when i left the club and was STARVING. Their pizza is pricey. yes. But they have a right to charge $ 5 a slice since they are the only thing open for blocks. HOWEVER I GOTTHEWORSTFOODPOISONINGOFMYLIFE! I considered going to the hospital! Never have I ever been in so much pain! And all i ate were 2 slices of a regular pizza, no meat nothing. Maybe the food was left out too long and had bacteria on it ? Who knows! All I know is I was in excruciating pain for 3 days and almost had to skip out on mothers day because of how sick i was :( Be very careful.

In Chelsea at 1AM, after some drinking and need some pizza? This is the place to go. My boyfriend works in Chelsea and had suggested it. I was a little apprehensive because I wasn’t drunk enough to be eating bad pizza, but he insisted it was good. I was surprised, it was not in fact drunk pizza, but actually good pizza — and I AM a pizza snob(but I’m from new york). Cheese to sauce ratio, perfect. Surprisingly not greasy at all. Crust, perfect. Toppings, the jury is still out because I got plain. We did have to deal with a painful conversation between two drunken hipsters, who«don’t eat pizza ever,» because they«stay away from all carbs,» but that’s not the fault of the pizzeria. Will be going back here!
