The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc. raises funds to restore and preserve Lady Liberty and America’s immigrant heritage at Ellis Island. The Foundation provides heritage documents marking immigrant arrivals between 1892 – 1957 through the Port of New York and Ellis Island and maintains The American Immigrant Wall of Honor®.
History
Established in 1982.
The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded to raise funds for and oversee the historic centennial restorations of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, working in partnership with the National Park Service/U.S. Department of the Interior. Its endowment has funded over 200 projects at the islands. Its most recent project, the Peopling of America Center® at Ellis Island, which focuses on immigration in the pre– and post-Ellis years, opened in May 2015.
