Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation

When I last when they let us walk around the base of the statue, take pictures, and whatnot but not go into it. Lame! Either way statue of liberty is gonna be super cool. Especially since it’s on Battery Place, same as Men in Black building, haha.

On our way back from the Statue of Liberty, we did this Ellis Island stop and I’m glad we did. Lots to learn about and lots to see! I spent hours here just reading through everything. Take your time and enjoy it, it’s part of our history!

What a great tour! I haven’t been to the Statue in over 20 years. It was a totally different experience!
The ferry ride was not so fun. It was completely packed. Too crowded for me. And the line to get back on was ridiculous!
The audio tour itself was great! It really immerses you in the story of the Statue. The island was crowded, but with the audio playing, I was able to tune out all of the people. A good tip is to bring your own ear buds so you don’t have to use one of their headsets. Those things weird me out! lol
The gift shop was nice and we were able to get some nice souvenirs. There was also a large bathroom in there. Although it could have used a cleaning.
Overall, well worth the price, especially when it includes Ellis Island.

Fantastic day trip! The only drawbacks were the crowded ferries. Have your tickets in advance, it will be crazy if you don’t. You will have to go through a first point security check. Going into the torch, we were told, was a four to six month waiting list. Security is tight and enforced. Prepare to rent a locker for six dollars if you have a lot of things. They won’t let you walk up with anything. No food or drinks inside. She is breathtaking!

Although I was raised in NYC I had never been to the Statue of Liberty. I now reside in Orlando FL, so I made it a point to visit the Statue of Liberty during my trip. It was an experience that I will never forget! The ride on the boat was fun, but very full! I think they pack them up. I did notice that the men the let people on and off were extremely rude. They would yell at people to walk ahead which I’m sure they all knew since you need to get off. I think the customer service needs to be better especially when people are paying and it’s all about freedom! I felt weird being yelled at and pushed out the ferry. The audio tour was great! The machines were ok because they were old so the buttons would stick. The audio tour takes you around the Statue of Liberty and you get to hear the story about how history took place which was amazing! You forget that there are tons of people because you get so into the tour! The view was amazing! We did go into the store to purchase some items, we got a great deal on some mugs and shot glasses. The customer service in the shop was great, not when you first get off or on the ferry. The Statue of Liberty is beautiful so worth the visit!

I loved seeing the Statue of Liberty and see everything on Ellis Island. It’s something to do while in NYC. Great place to visit for the day! It’s definitely worth it.

I’ve been to New York several times but never got the chance to check it out because of our usually full schedule but for this trip, the boyfriend made sure that we get the chance to see it especially with all our kids in tow.
We were able to purchase tickets in advance but only up to the pedestal because the tickets to get up to the crown are already sold out until September. Better booked your tickets 6months in advance if you want access to her crown.
We got reserved tickets so we avoided the long a** lines getting on to the ferry boat that will take you to Liberty Island. Great planning on his end. Expect a huge crowd everyday. It doesn’t really matter if it’s on a weekday. Make sure to wear very comfy shoes because there’s tons of walking.
You’re not allowed to bring Food and drinks but don’t fret, you can buy them in their concessions on the Ferry and at the Liberty Island and Ellis Island. Food like cheeseburgers, chicken fingers, sandwich melt, cheese pizza, chips, French fries, pretzels. Be ready to spend at least $ 8.50 for food and $ 2.50 for drinks.
The Liberty Museum is a must! Learn the history behind it and how fucking brilliant the planning, architecture and Engineering involved in building this magnificent statue. Manual computations back in the 1800’s. How cool is that?
Come and visit when in New York and learn how to appreciate what the Statue of Liberty is all about.

Nice tour with friendly people. Make sure you reserve plenty of time in advance if you want to go into the Statue of Liberty!

Our first time to New York and we took a water taxi that took us to Statue of Liberty and Ellis island. Both were fascinating. Loved seeing the Statue of Liberty, although a lot smaller then expected it was still a joy to see. My only complaint is about the company or should I say the crew on the boat we took. My husband has a conduit in and he sometimes has a hard time walking. The crew was rushing and yelling at people to hurry on and off the boat, they didn’t care about people’s safety. We apparently were the last tour group and the water was very choppy and rough which made the boat and the ramp move up and down a lot. My husbands food almost got caught between the ramp and the boat which almost made him fall. And they staff are pushing and rushing people off the boat! I don’t feel that was appropriate to do even with children and elderly people that were on the boat. That was not right and ruined our experience on that particular boat.

Best place. A ferry which takes to this island and also there is a cruise which takes around this island but they wont go to the island. You will get good view though. There is a free ferry as well to the staten island near by. On the way you can have a look at the statue. Worth visiting.
Heard there is a ticket to be reserved before 3 months which takes to the top of the torch itself which seems to be awesome.

A must place to see. There is a ferry to Elsie island and cruise as well. Elsie island ferry this ll take to the island itself. The cruise is about 1 hr ride which doesn’t take to the island. .Furry ride is CHEAPER than cruise.. For tourists I would suggest taking the cruise as you can get a better view of both downtown and statue.
Also there is ferry to state and island which is free. You can also get a view of statue in this also.

It has been said that when the poor, the downtrodden and just plain smelly, emigrated to the United States, upon seeing the statue, they would laugh uproariously at those silly French and the irony of a country renowned for mistress and bedroom farces keeping a woman so endowed covered in robes. The flame is a of course a nod to the spirit of Moulin Rouge and the tableaux she holds in the other hand originally had the instructions for building a BBQ pit carved into its cover. However, cooler heads prevailed and the current version of the statue was unveiled in 1954 to reflect more conservative America sensibilities. You can climb the statue as ladders have been constructed on her south side, but if it is windy, make sure to bring an umbrella. Dogs are not allowed up the statue, but curiously, rabbits are. Tourists can get fleeced by con-​men offering better statues elsewhere in New York, so beware!

I have been to NYC tons of times! I decided I want to see something new and I figured I would go see the Statue of Liberty. I truly did not have many expectations and was only able to reserve a ticket up to the pedestal the morning of my journey. Even though I was a party of one, I tried really hard to get to the Crown and unfortunately they regulate that tremendously. It was sold out until May and I went in late February.
I cannot believe I neglected going to this landmark for so many years. It was really fun to go to and at least see the inside of the statue looking up. Since it was cold out, there were no lines and not many people overpopulated in liberty Island.
Regardless, this is a national treasure and should be paid a visit at least once in your life. Try and get a ticket to the crown a couple of months ahead of time if you know you are going there.

Seeing the statue was definitely cool, but not worth the trouble. We purchased our tickets in advance so that we wouldn’t have to wait an estimated 2 hours in line, but found it was still very cumbersome to get to the statue. First, you have to go through airport level security on the NYC side and then wait 30 – 40 minutes for the boat to unload 1,000 or so guests and then load up 1,000 more. Once you get to Liberty island, guess what… another security line! By the time I actually made it to the statue, my enthusiasm was gone. When we decided to leave, we had to wait another 30 minutes or so to catch a boat back to NYC. In short, you spend about 1 hour or so at the statue, but this is about a 4 – 5 hour ordeal, so block out the better part of a whole day if you really want to visit the statue. Not worth it in my opinion.

A must-​see, I must say :) This visit the interior part of the Statue was closed for the last year due to restoration of the crown, with the reopening date set for this Oct. 28^th.
DO RESERVE TIX ONLINE PRIOR. The line to purchase tix s ridiculous day-​off — I had reserved tix and saw the line to buy– 30 – 45 min according to those I talked to. Also, you will have the opportunity to skip the mile long wait to get on the ferry, by going to reserved line which is far less of wrap-​around.
The ferry goes to the Statue first, then to Ellis Island, then back to Battery Park. So you basically get on to go to the Statue, then make sure you leave yourself enough time (especially if you plan on going up to the crown or anywhere in the interior) to experience Ellis Island once the ferry circles back. It’s every 20 min., so when you’re ready for the next place, you’ll reboard the ferry to Ellis, then back Battery.
Some scavenger hunt-​type games for the kids a couple of time througout the day at the Statue from what I seen during my week day trip. Could be a lot of fun for the kid!
One last thing: Souvenirs are really inexpensive which was a BIG GREAT SURPRISE :)

Nice monument, too bad you can’t access the statue itself at the moment. That’s also the reason for giving only a three star rating.

Ellis Island es la segunda parada del viaje en ferry, que hacen los turistas que salen en visita desde Nueva York. Esta isla es mucho más bonita, más grande y alberga el museo del emigrante, que particularmente me gustó mucho. Fotografías, ropa de la época, cartas originales de inmigrantes o maletas auténticas en las que se transportaron las pocas pertenencias de la gente. Fotos de miles de personas que viajaron a EEUU en busca del sueño americano, la tierra prometida en la que encontrarían trabajo y podrían alimentar a sus familias. El museo ocupa un edificio precioso que era la antigua aduana en la que llegaban los inmigrantes antes de ser aceptados en el país.
Por unos 13 $ haces el viaje en barco hasta Liberty Island y hasta Ellis Island.
