Terrible service. Let me start off by saying, I always err on the side of suppressing my critiques. I will have to make an exception here.
I went with my sister to get pedicures. While my technician was doing a great job, my sister’s technician was clearly having a bad day and acting bizarrely unprofessional. It began with her getting angry at my sister for not flexing her feet enough during the stone scrub. Either because of my sisters reaction to the tickle of the treatment or her naturally larger arch, the technician had no patience. She was literally pushing her foot arch a way that it did not naturally extend. I was astonished to see this.
My sister asked politely for my a few more minutes of the scrub (not a huge outlandish request) because she did not feel she was given an adequate job. The woman flat out rejected her and said she’d only do another more expensive treatment, which was not what my sister desired. My sister tried to explain her request politely to help the situation. Though, the technician continued giving her abrupt very rude answers. It eventually escalated into the woman scornfully going on a rant, which we could not understand. She was loudly going on and on, while none of the other technicians were acknowledging her talking. All social cues suggested she was definitely directing her rant at my sister. It was beyond uncomfortable.
Neither of us had reached the point where nail polish was applied. I was still mid cuticles. My sister was just finishing the scrub. She decided she did not feel safe with this aggressive, angry woman. As a witness, I agreed. It was not a good idea for this situation to proceed. As the service was SO COMPLETELY unacceptable, we did not pay for our half a pedicure. I did tip my technician because it was not her fault.

Professional service. Very pleased with the staff. Will go back for more treatments. Officially a regular customer now!

Pass this salon all the time on my way to work. Judging from appearance I assumed that the workers would be welcoming and polite and the work would be appropriately clean, done properly and nothing less than customers expectations.
While the service was excellent and everyone is nice and full of smiles I was highly disappointed in my nail polish job.
My feet were done properly, treatment was lovely and she massaged my feet which felt amazing seeing as I walk and work on my feet practically all day.
Unfortunately when it came for my fill in time, the fill in itself is definitely worth the $ 35 as compared to other nail salons I’ve been to (she was able to fix the bad work of another salon and shape properly and each nail is even!!) but the polish job itself lacked.
I paid an extra $ 10.50 for a gel top coat. I dried for the appropriate 5 minutes and left satisfied and under the impression my nails are completely dry (she sprayed and wiped my nails as they should be after the top coat).
When I arrived home, I began to undress and low and behold my nail polish lifts up!!! It wasn’t dry! I ended up having to remove all my polish bc all of them lifted up. When I called the salon to tell them what happened, she told me they have no issue fixing it but I would still be charged! Ridiculousness. I clearly expressed to her I would not like to pay extra as I just paid $ 80 for the fill in and manicure with treatment and tip included!
Lovely salon with lovely workers but this was just ridiculous.

This is my go-​to place to get my eyebrows done! I haven’t gotten my nails done here yet so I can’t comment on that, but I am always pleased with how they do my eyebrows. An eyebrow wax runs at $ 10.50, which is pricier than other places, but I’m willing to pay more for good service.

Think again. I used to love this place but tired of constant upselling. Mani-​pedi now $ 27 but beware if you do a mani-​pedi with gel it’s $ 49.50 (nothing they will tell you in advance…) and so you end up paying 22.50 extra for gel nail polish. Too many places in the city to go back, unfortunate, too, because I used to really like this place…
Mention your dissatisfaction to the boss and expect to be chastised.

Normally have good experiences here but after yesterday I will not return as a customer. One of the nail technicians is new and so she didn’t do a good job on my gels. Upon expressing my disappointment with the final product and asking for a re-​do I was turned down– waste of $ 27! Not good customer relations at all. Not to mention that out of all the times that I have gone there they still do not remember me well as a customer!!!

My standard place to go — you’re bound to get the best value for money pedicure in the city for $ 25 mani-​pendi with jazz TVS it’s clean and have great staff too. Better than many cheap nail salons on 14^th street.

Sunny, Sunny, Sunny! She is a perfectionist! Love her! My mani and pedi are always FLAWLESS when she services me! She only works Thurs — Sunday I believe.

Horrible. I went on NYE and got a pedicure and manicure. The next day, I noticed my finger was swollen and really red. I thought I hit it on something, so I iced it. Well over the last few days it got worse. I went to the doctor today and found out I had a cuticle infection. I called to discuss the issue with the manager. I was told there wasn’t a manager on duty and one would not return until Wednesday. Another person got on the phone to resolve the issue and repeatedly expressed to me that she couldn’t understand me because her English wasn’t that good. I think it’s embarrassing and an awful practice to try and capitalize on a customer by lying and saying you don’t understand…

I rarely write poor reviews, but the world deserves to know of a poor experience…
Really wanted to like this place as it is near my apartment and looks nice ambience-​wise.
Got a gel manicure remover and normal manicure. In the span of the gel removal, my technician changed 3 times in lieu of a new customer. The male technician was scratching up my nail and really looked like he lacked the experience. As one of the females returned to finish up, she would complain in korean out loud whenever I had a small request (such as please fill out the outer corner as well). Obviously, she assumed I did not speak or understand any. The whole process took an hour and a half…
The lady before me who got a gel removal and gel polish for both manicure and pedicure left before me… Needless to say, disappointed in the experience.

Worst gel manicure ive ever gotten. Uneven and thick layered. Made me super disappointed.

My favorite nail salon in the East Village, possibly in all of the city!
Their gel manicures last me a week longer then they normally do, I’m not sure how they do it but it always comes out perfect. They’re only $ 25 which is the cheapest you can find. The only annoying part is they charge an extra $ 5 to take your gels off.
Sometimes the owner has his dog walking around too which makes the whole experience better :)

I started going to this salon about a year ago and had no complaints. Always great service and quality jobs! Unfortunately, I will not be returning. I went In for a pedicure & gel manicure as I always do. I sat down In the chair and the technician looked at the bottom of my feet and suggested a spa pedicure since it includes a scrub. I agreed. I was going to treat my self. Why not spend an extra $ 10 – 15 for an upgrade. (Or so I thought anyways) My pedicure & gel nails turned out good and I was feeling great.
Until I get to the counter. Upon checking out they tell me my pedicure is $ 64! (What?! It’s normally $ 19) I think that’s something they should tell guests when you go in asking for a regular and they try to up sell the service. During my visit I saw this happen to TWO other girls while they were checking out as well. I get they want to up sell, but that’s just crazy. Unfortunately I’m now going to have to find a new salon for my monthly visit as that left a very bad taste in my mouth.
Yes, maybe I should have asked for the new price prior, but due to that experience and an over $ 100 nail bill (!!!) I still will not be returning.
(I also asked on the way out for a price list to make sure I was hearing them correctly and they couldn’t even show me an up-​to-​date one).

Gel manicure looked good but only lasted a little over a week

Overall the service was lacking. At first appearance the place is clean and is packed with repeat clients. Toward the end of my visit (a pedicure that I waited upwards of 30 mins for) while my pedicure was drying, an older woman on staff approached me (not even the person who did my pedicure, I’m assuming it was the owner or manager) aggressively to pay for my service even though the woman who performed the service gave me the receipt ticket with the total amount to pay when my nails were dry. She attempted to take my card without me being at the register to witness the payment. I was extremely insulted by this incident. Their lack of customer service will prevent me from coming back for future services.

I came here for a gel manicure. The actual process was alright, however I felt as though the manicurist did not leave my nails in the UV long enough. Anyway, it was pretty standard, nothing too special, however the gel is very thin and dull.
I love the gel manicures because they always seem so shiny and fresh. Mine is 2 days in and looks flat. Also one of my nails chipped and the actual nail underneath ripped. Needless to say I am not happy with this manicure. I am hoping if I go back they will fix this for me, but that is up for debate. I will not be returning other than for a fix.

I came here on a Sunday morning with two other customers-​basically not a busy day. I got the regular pedi and gel mani which the price is reasonable. The one who did my manicure, I believe that’s the owner’s daughter, was rude with an attitude and was rough. She even told me to make sure to put all my fingers under the light because one nail is not drying well. Bottomline, i came here to relax-​hence the name Spa-​o-​logy. So if this woman is having a pms or something. Then I don’t really need this attitude especially with this gorgeous weather!

Update: the gel chipped then first day. I was able to cut and fix it. Now here we are on the fourth day and it chipped again. I am not hard on my nails or anything. Such a shame, I would have gone back.

First of all, I have to say that I am not american. I have only been here for 5 months now, so I’m not really used to the nails salon that they have here yet nor have I been to a ton of them. only three.
I went to SpaOlogy today for the first time and got a Mani-​Pedi special for 25 dollar. it’s a «winter special» so Im not sure how long it is gonna run for. I enjoyed every bit of it. I think the place is clean but not super clean. The place I usually go to when I am in italy sanitized the tools and put them in a plastic wrap every time and this place didn’t. not that I could see. I will say that they cleaned the place i got a pedicure in as soon as I was done. It took them some3−5 minutes, so they did clean it, not just wiped it off.
The nail polish selection i noticed didn’t have so much on the blues/​yellow/​green side. it pretty much focused on neutral colors, pinks, reds and purple. But I think I’m one of the only ones who likes her nails painted neon yellow so I can see why the selection was limited on that color range.
The nail polish was applied perfectly, not too much nail polish which is what I like coz when they put too much nail polish it just doesn’t look sexy. it’s just girly. And I got my nails painted red so. I didn’t want to look girly LOL
I really enjoyed the extra time they took in massaging my feet during the pedicure, same thing with the mani and also they give me a little complimentary back rub while i was waiting for my nails to dry, just 1 minute but i needed it.
I’ll definitely come back, and it seemed like every customer who came in was a regular and they were really kind and gracious to everyone!

I LOVE this place. I stumbled in here a while back (during Memorial Day) with a friend of mine while we were trying to find a place that was open and was so happy to find this hidden gem. The technician that gave me my mani (Rosa?) was so good and the mani lasted me almost more than a week which is great for me because I’m always using my hands. I almost want to keep this place a secret but it’s so nice! And did I mention they give you a massage at the end?

Although the older man may look weak… well he’s not. He has the strength of a freakin warrior. I personally like when my massage is rough so this is a great place for me, near the end of the chair massage it can sometimes feel like some sort of torture chamber where you think he might be ripping your arms off. He’s the sweetest dude tho and laughs at all my jokes even tho I’m positive he doesn’t understand a word from my mouth.

Love this place– really comfortable and pleasant on the inside, always spotless and very clean. I have been here twice and both times, everyone was extremely friendly and hospitable to me. Their selection of gel colors is great– only $ 25 for a gel manicure! The selection of regular polishes was extensive as well.
They do designs for gel nail art and have gemstones, something I really dig. Both times I have had designs done and the nail tech was really accommodating and took her time to help me decide what I wanted. This is a huge plus because I have been to so many nail salons in NYC that were annoyed and had no interest in making sure I was really happy. I really like the interior, how friendly they are, and the amazing gel job they did (very thorough with many coats!) I will definitely be coming back.

I came here with Liang S. on her recommendation. This neat, bright little gem is right down the street from her place. She pretty much nailed all of the selling points for why you want to drop two extra dollars here instead of at any other salon on the same street or one block over…
— Very, very clean. With bright lights in every corner to show off the cleanliness. We came here on a chilly evening after dark, and the lights were warm and welcoming. The foot tubs are meticulously cleaned after each usage.
— Colors are up to date. They had a small section labeled «Fall 2014» and «Winter 2014» colors. They have all the usual suspects — OPI, Essie, etc. I didn’t see any of the higher-​end brands (butter, etc.) but my pedi has lasted just fine with Essie polish.
— Prices are very reasonable. $ 19 for a pedicure; $ 1 for quick-​drying top coat (a necessity for cold nights where you don’t wish to tramp about in open-​toed shoes); quick massage included. They also wrap your feet in saran wrap after the drying process is complete, to help prevent your shoes from putting pressure on your fresh manicure and ruining everything.
— Little luxuries — the scrub and lemon are a nice, refreshing touch and the hot towel is surprisingly nice.
The ladies working here aren’t particularly social, but it’s great for times when you just need to zone out while treating yourself to some simple pampering.

Eh… not my favorite. I went yesterday for a gel manicure (my first time!) and regular pedicure. The lady who did my nails wasn’t the most friendly and didn’t seem to have that much attention to detail. She put two coats of polish on my toes in what I thought would be a bright opaque color, but it was basically transparent. When I asked for a third she obliged but didn’t seem that happy about it.
Gel manicure was also not so impressive (see pic below).
She was also pushy about her tip and suggested i leave her over 20% which was uncomfortable.
My friend that came with me had a much better experience but there are lots of nail places in the EV so don’t think I would return.

With the number of places in the East Village to get mani/pedi’s for $ 25 or LESS, this is my favorite by far.
The ladies who work here are incredibly nice. What sets this place apart from other spots:
— SUPER clean. I see them sanitize their tools before/​after use. The place is bright and spotless.
— The rubs. They go the extra .5 mile and give mini (maybe 30 second) leg rubs, hand rubs and then back rubs when your nails are drying. It’s not much, but it’s enough to make me want more. I did the chair massage once as well and do not regret it one bit.
— Small touches. Love the hot towels they use, and the sugar scrub + lemon during your pedicure.
As much as I loved experimenting going to places that were $ 1 or $ 2 cheaper, I’d much rather stick to this.
In this price range, this is seriously as good as it gets.

Unfortunately, for nail salons, they are at a disadvantage. If the quality of your service suffers, the customers are forced to sit and think about it while their nails are drying– in the HOT salon. Yes, during this current heat wave, (90+ temps), they had one air condition unit 1.5 times the one in a small apartment for the whole place. They augmented with fans. I was sweating, but didn’t think too much until I saw that the AC unit was only halfway down the thermostat, so it was BLOWING WARM AIR. Thank you for starting off my spa experience on the right foot.
I’ve been twice here, and since the first time was excellent, I decided to return. The most current visit, I was deeply disappointed.
The mani/​pedi didn’t include a basic short massage. After the tech finished my pedi, she told me I needed quick dry since I had sneakers, and proceeded to paint them on my nails. I later find out this is $ 1, which is fine, but should have been stated. The cuticles on hands are still messy after the mani. The customer next to me got a shoulder massage; I didn’t.
So the Summer Special states $ 25 for mani/​pedi. Tech quoted me $ 28, so I asked her where the price hike came from. She said tax + $ 1 quick dry = $ 27.50. I don’t know how they calculated that, but fine. The same tech did that to another customer next to me, who wanted to pay for her own and 2 gift certificates $ 81– and had to refund $ 1.50.
Sure it’s a dollar here and there, but they do this the whole day. If you guys are going to round up on the prices, at least turn on the AC full blast! My search for the neighborhood salon continues…
