I’ve only had the chicken kebob, but it’s been great. Very solid halal cart, and usually not too swamped or slow.

Food is delicious. The line is always wrapped around the corner but very good street food. Whenever in NYC I have to stop by this place. I do not get the white sauce, just picky about sauces, everyone else is loves it. You will definitely love this night time snack.

Consistently a good experience. Popular cart with friendly staff, great hours, quick food, awesome price. I’ve been here 30+ times.

The food isn’t terrible but they short changed me late at night one evening, I think intentionally. It’s best to skip this place unless you want to give business to thieves.

Hungry and with no ingredients to cook for dinner at home. i didnt wanna venture too far to get food. Brain was set for Chipotle when i decided to check Unilocal!Hello new place After reading some good readings… i said why not. cheaper than chipotle still! Found him exactly where he would be! Order my chicken and rice and i got a geunie smile in return. The guy seem to be an awesome person… super friendly! My chicken was cooked fresh… and fresh i mean the chicken was raw and then he cooked it on the hot plate and did his CHOPCHOPCHOP. Asked for white sauce and spicy… not extra spicy because i wanted to try before going FULLONEXTRARREDSUACE Chicken and rice…$ 5…WOW i am a little bummed though… i wish there were more rice… felt a little on the not full area. The white sauce is more tangy and creamier than the HALALGUYS on 53rd… red sauce though… could be spicier… sad about htat… had to grab the red sauce from THEHALAL guys to enjoy it. More fat on the chicken tho but so moist and tender! Wouldnt mind geting this again. that price.in SOHO?! how can you not?

«The Halal Guy», or Peter as I found his name to be, is one awesome dude. He is super friendly, has a winning smile, and had never heard of Unilocal until I told him about his 4 star rating to which he replied, «ahh yes, verrrry good food, very cheap.» Although still not entirely sure he grasped the concept, Peter let me take his picture and handed my sumptuous lamb over rice with a smile. The food was quite good, far better than most street meat experiences. Well done, Peter.

REVIEW200! finally. like street food? like cheap food? like«deleesh» food? then you’re in luck — bc Soho Halal Guy delivers on all three, but it’s only TAKEOUT. #seewhatididthere lol located on the corner of Broadway and Houston, Southwest corner from lunch to late night. if i am hankering for halal food post-running on the west side… i’ll typically stop over at Soho Halal Guy for a box of rice + meat + veggie deliciousness. then speedwalk home… dreaming of speed-eating, my other workout. lol i am a huge fan of this food cart’s chicken over rice and lamb over rice. they serve a lot of other stuff falafel, gyros, burgers, hotdogs, chicken sandwiches etc. but meh i can have that anywhere. the chicken over rice is on point. soft succulent chicken marinated in spices. aromatic rice. and crispy vegetables(lettuce and tomatoes). all drowned in your preference of white sauce(cool) and red sauce(spicy). like i said the meat over platter dishes is where it’s at. and priced for a great value. an order of chicken over rice is 5 bucks. WHUT?!? the dude who runs the cart is friendly and tries to move orders quick as this is a one-man operation in a tiny cart. the cart itself looks super clean! aaaaand at night the LED lights on the food cart almost serve as a homing beacon for the HANGRY folks looking for sustenance at a great price! though Halal food is the rage all over the city with suspect food trucks opening up all over the city… i can say the food here is legit and stellar for the PRICE. remember you are not at a sitdown restaurant. however«hello. how are you? etc.» go a long way in every scenario whether eating indoors at a boojee restaurant or outside at a food truck. be human. it pays off. drops mic so i can cradle this styrofoam container of awesome eats with both hands. i out. zzz

Really good halal but they are not the original halal guys @ whoever claimed they were! The portions are much smaller than that of other carts, but everything was fresh and tasty

Love this halal. Get my fix every few nights here, and this always hits the spot. Guy at the cart is super friendly and always remembers what we got last time. Lamb and veggies are always fresh and lettuce always crisp Good size portions, and price in line with any other halal spot.

I am extremely disappointed! This by far is the worst halal I’ve ever had! Taking into account the location and potential clientele, I expected much better quality and service. The rice was soggy, the lettuce was browning and the chicken was bland and cold. What somewhat saved this was the BBQ sauce which they didnt put enough of. The two men running the cart were talking to each other and not paying attention to me or my food. I will never order food from them again, even if it was only $ 5.

I like the chicken and rice. You get a generous portion of rice, chicken, and lettuce all for $ 6. That’s bargain price for NY. Also, don’t forget to add the ranch and hot sauce!

One of the best deals in NYC. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is that I’m not sure if it’s healthy. The hot sauce is potent. My friend claims that she left the sauce out for a while and it burned through its plastic containers. It is gram for gram one of the strongest hot sauces I’ve had in my life. In my opinion, stick with the chicken and rice platter. And when eating, dabble the hot sauce with your fork so you don’t get too much on. Also, go to the one near 53rd and 7th as its owned by the same Halal Guys and I’ve never had to wait in line. Also, that location is closer to the 1−2−3 line and is open earlier than there main location.

I heard this place was good so I decided to stop here after a long day of shopping in the area. I got the lamb gyro with white sauce and was expecting it to be relatively fast, since gyros usually take ~5 minutes or so after ordering(at least in my experience). However, it ended up being about 20 minutes before I got my food. While I appreciate that it’s fresh, I really didn’t want to stand around for 20 minutes waiting on street food. I almost ended up leaving, but I had already ordered and was pretty hungry. It was definitely fresh and really hot, but wasn’t anything absolutely spectacular. I’ve had much better gyros before; this one just didn’t blow my socks off or anything. The white sauce that I had heard was so good was just ok, if not a bit bland. Next time I’ll definitely have to try the one on 53rd and 6th.

Awesome Halal. Can’t go wrong with any corner here. Well, the guy on the north side of Houston corner of Broadway is a little gruff.

Good stuff(although 53rd&6th cart still RULES). I haven’t had any cart food in SoHo although moved here few months back and been seeing quite a few carts around after getting out of subway station. I decided to relax on Fri night(had to work a lot and also move my desk in office– rough Friday), have couple of beers and cart food. Decided to try Sammy’s Halal which had most rev iess and good rating in the hood. Could not find it at 9pm so walked back to Bway&Houston and Unilocaled for other carts and this one popped. First things first, there is a flock of carts around Broadway and Houston and these guys don’t have any name, how the hell is one supposed to find the right one. Well I decided go with the review of Bin H, and man it was good, the cart is on the SW corner of Broadway&Houston(so technically its Bway&W. Houston). Nice flavor chicken, very appropriately spiced. White sauce and red sauce are nothing to brag about. They have a green sauce(cilantro&green chily mix) which is pretty good and make sure to get it with your chicken over rice. I asked the cart guy there is so many carts around, whats special in your cart. He replied let my food speak for me and sure it did. The timing is 8pm to 9am in the morning. If you in the neighborhood and have cravings for halal cart or need something(although quantity wise this is more that anything) at deep late nigh, this is the guy to go to.

All I could say is that you can get a huge plate of chicken over rice and a drink for $ 6. One of the best places I tried while I was in NYC. You definitely need to try this! Shiz is bananers!

Damn, I don’t know what they put into that Chicken over Rice, but I’m hooked! Huge portions for just $ 5, PACKED with chicken and rice. It was huge, so I had half for lunch and saved the rest for dinner. It was good even when cold! I don’t do well with hot stuff, so I said«little on the hot sauce». I bet the guy was thinking«…but she’s Asian!!!» Since there are several Halal Carts around Broadway and Houston, I contemplated on which one to go to. I went to the SW corner one because it had the longest line(LOL), but they’re all $ 5.

One of the few halal carts I’ve ever eaten at that has not made me entirely ill at the end of the night. Great after-bar food. So delicious! So warm! So good! The man is a bit abrasive but it gives him character. It gives him some oompf. I shall be back there, my loves.
