Established in 1998.

Soho Gem’s first fine jewelry boutique opened its doors in SoHo, the trendy shopping Mecca of Manhattan. With a unique selection of delicate, feminine designs and colorful, dramatic creations success was instant. The next natural step was to launch this beautiful on-​line shop in 2007, long awaited by devoted customers from all over the country.

The duo behind Soho Gem are sisters Maria Benavides and Irina Ferry. Descending from a heritage in antiques and fine jewelry they have an innate feel for art and a passion for beauty.

Soho Gem has carved out a niche in the bridal market by offering spectacular engagement rings and delicate wedding bands to the most sophisticated and savvy brides. With unparallel customer care, the knowledgeable staff at Soho Gem provides a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where patrons feel welcome and appreciated.

Business Owner

Irina Ferry and partner Maria Benavides grew up in the fine jewelry business. They opened their first fine jewelry boutique in 1998 in SoHo, NYC. Mainly by word of mouth, the shop is known for engagement rings, fine diamonds, custom settings, delicate wedding bands, and other precious gemstones including natural unheated blue sapphires, emeralds and rubies largely sourced mine to market. The ethical sourced, fair trade partnership with mines in Madagascar has enabled designer Irina Ferry to create one of a kind, custom jewelry for her clients.

Very nice people that guide you through the process of buying jewelry. Although their pieces take a long time if you get them custom made (the designs are all handmade from start to finish and take 5 – 6 weeks), they are worth the wait! They did not sacrifice quality for turnover, so I did not mind waiting. And what beautiful designs– they truly are artists! I just love my ring!

Losing my one-​of-​a-​kind natural sapphire engagement ring was unbelievably heart breaking and gut wrenching. And, it was made very stressful when the insurance company told me that standard policy is to have their wholesale jeweler do their own appraisal. We picked my ring for its exquisite uniqueness, but I was a little worried not knowing how a natural sapphire would retain value. Well, my worry was completely unnecessary, the GIA certified natural sapphire stone Irina set was not only irreplaceable in its sentimental value to me, but actually so irreplaceable that the wholesale jeweler appraised it at almost triple what we paid. I will forever miss my beautiful ring, but am so grateful to SoHo Gem for making such an incredible product that more than held its value. I can’t wait for my new one!

Awesome selection of beautiful jewelry. After months of searching other jewelry stores, finally found a perfectly proportioned pair of citrine earrings set on unique simple posts. Irina was super helpful and knowledgeable about which jewelry is most appropriate for different occasions and was able to quickly point me in the right direction. Will definitely be the first place I go back to the next time I need another piece!

I feel so lucky to have wandered into Soho Gem back in the spring. Picking a ring was a bit of a process for me – over the span of several months I made multiple visits to the store, had numerous email exchanges with the fabulous Sarah discussing the many different options, and I finally made some adjustments to a stock piece to customize it to my liking. I ended up with a gorgeous ring that is exactly what I imagined. Sarah was absolutely incredible throughout the process. She was patient, honest, and beyond helpful in helping me figure out what I wanted. I would highly, highly recommend working with her. Such a rare treat to find someone so truly helpful, knowledgable, and passionate about their work. The pieces in the store are simply beautiful. A wonderful experience.

My fiancé got my engagement ring from Soho Gem and I cannot say enough positive things about them. We went in to look at rings together first and then based on the positive experience we had, he went back and worked with Sarah to design the ring completely. My engagement ring is beautiful and completely unique and I get so many compliments on it, specifically the delicateness of the pave band. I never would have had such an amazing ring with any of the big box stores. The best thing is once i received the ring they have continued to provide great service to clean and size it as necessary and I now know I have a local jeweler. I can’t wait to pick the wedding bands!

The selection at soho gem may not be as huge as some stores but you’ll definitely find something you’ll like.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. They don’t make you feel rushed when you’re «browsing»

I am so happy with the engagement ring that I purchased from Soho Gem. After my fiancé saw the Angel setting, nothing anywhere else could compare. Sarah was extremely knowledgable and honest when it came to deciding on everything from the stone to the changes I was looking to make to the setting. She made it easy to make the perfect ring that was within my budget, and deliver it weeks early! Not knowing much about rings, my fiancé and I went into Soho Gem to choose our wedding bands. The store is lovely, a boutique feel with incredibly beautiful pieces everywhere, I wanted them all! I was a bit nervous about how little I knew, platinum vs gold, the quality of the diamonds, should we insure it? Sarah was amazing. She talked us through everything and worked with us for a very long time as I tried on SO many different bands. She struck the wonderful balance of helping me discover my own opinion and taste, and sharing her own. She helped us create something unique to each of us and took care of getting the ring insured and sized once we realized we had gotten the wrong size. She even taught me how to perfectly polish my engagement ring for our big day. Not only do we now have BEAUTIFUL wedding bands, we feel like we have a lifeline if we ever have any questions. I would highly recommend Soho Gem! Now, I’m gonna go stare at my rings that I love, see ya! :)

I sauntered on into Soho Gem with my (then) fiancée to select some rings for our upcoming nuptials. Amidst all the hustle and bustle of the weeks leading up to the wedding, Sarah at Soho Gem was a calming breath of fresh air.
The ring selection process was a new, and, dare I say, intimidating process for me, but Sarah laid everything out in a very relaxed, accessible way. Within minutes, the both of us had selected designs that are uniquely «us» that we couldn’t be happier with. Plus, she’s a fan of craft beer and good music!
So, don’t walk, RUN to the awesome staff at Soho Gem for all of your jewelry needs. You will not be disappointed.

I went to Soho gem when i was looking for an engagement ring for my girlfriend at the time. I was looking at Tacori rings online and Isabel from Soho gem contacted me to set up an appointment. The staff at Soho were extremely friendly, and after i told them that i no longer wanted a Tacori ring, they showed me a number of other options. The staff was very knowledgable and remained very patient and accommodating throughout the whole process despite our ever changing needs. They were never pushy, and allowed me to do things at my own pace. After months of back and forth between designs, various diamond shapes and sizes, i finally bought the engagement ring in April and my fiancé is absolutely in love with it! Thank you to Soho gem for everything!

Marina at Soho Gem was amazing. Not only did she give us a really fair price (way cheaper than anywhere else had quoted) she also got both of our wedding rings made in an incredibly short amount of time (when every other place said it would take 3 times longer)

25 years of marriage and a the desire to recommit our bond led us to SoHo Gem. Jewelers often aggrandize themselves with a lack-​luster welcome, though, shouldn’t they know it’s quite intimidating to be in the reflection of diamonds and jewels? SoHo Gem is uniquely extraordinary — I was warmly welcomed and assisted by the graduate GIA gemologist. Isabel Kammerer instantly put my wary feeling for jewelers out the door as she walked me through the” in-​and-​outs” in selecting a diamond.
Color-​Clarity-​Cut, it sounds quite self-​explanatory, but Isabel enlightened us on how to «plug-​in» these components with a $ sign. And like the perfection of «pi», with all components equated, she reserved 6 cushion-​cut diamonds for our comparison the following morning.
Isabel clarifies and directs with a pure sense of direction that expressive and personal. Though she would have gladly spent an entire morning with us, in less than an hour we chose a magnificent cushion cut to be set with the infamous SoHo Gem Micro-​Bezel. It’s remarkable simplicity marks our 25th Anniversary with a mesmerising piece of art that is as timeless and eternal as our bond. And that, dear friends, is THE BEAUTY OF BRILLIANCE at SoHo Gem.

I love this place. They carry a variety of designers work. The pieces are gorgeous & unique. They have a wide range of prices for every budget. If you ask nicely they will work with you on price. Every year on your birthday they are nice enough to send you a gift card to entice you to visit them again. The women that work there know how to cultivate their clients & a sale. More importantly, if something happens to your piece they stand behind it & will get it fixed for you. You can also stop by for steam cleanings. Highly recommend & will shop here for life! Shout out to Marina who is my favorite sales person there.
