I’m not even sure how many years I’ve been going to Snip n Sip, that’s how long it’s been. I have very thick hair, a dream for many stylists, however, it can be a nightmare for me. Blowdrying, even though it’s short, can take some time. Ricky always gives me a great cut and style, but the best part is that I can look just as fabulous when I style my hair myself. He layers it so that my hair no longer has a life of its own. What good is a great haircut if you can never make it look great yourself? I love Ricky and have recommended him to many friends, who are also loyal customers.

I’d left my beloved hairdresser in San Francisco & returned home to NY in 2002. I’d started going back to my longtime stylist & after being disappointed twice by her not understanding what kind of cut I’d wanted, I tried Snip n’Sip on the recommendation of a friend. Long story short, I’ve been getting my haircut by Ricky since 2003 and 9 years later, I still go back to Ricky & all of his wonderfullness! He is so incredibly skilled and has such an extensive resume(think travelling with supermodels all over the world for many years), yet he is SO down to earth and has ZERO pretentiousness. I love coming to his shop, as it has the feel of a cozy café, except that you walk out with haircut confidence and not with the guilt of having just eaten a scone as big as your head. I ALWAYS walk out of his shop feeling fabulous & thrilled with my new cut. When I briefly had bangs, I went to his shop every 2 weeks for a FREE bang trim. Who does that nowadays?! Ricky does! He’s worth EVERY penny & for his level of talent, its not that many pennies. LOVE Ricky, LOVE his staff, and LOVE his shop. Viva Snip n’ Sip!

I’ve been going to get my hair cut from Yubelky and Ricky since I moved back from the San Francisco bay Area in 2005 and I would be remiss not to post this review. I love the atmosphere of this place as Ricky always has great holiday decorations and keeps a neighborhood kind of vibe that really fits the area they are located. Yubelky has been the sole person to cut my hair and I love her patience and ability to remember exactly how I like it cut and make the right suggestions. I am Italian so my hair is at the essence of my Being :). I trust her implicitly, and most importantly, she never makes me feel old by commenting how Grey I have gotten only that I have a lot of hair. so yippee! 5 stars all around.

This place has all the right ingredients: — Awesome staff(Owner Ricky and team) — Great location(west village) — Comfortable digs(retro soda-shop) — Reliable cuts(always had… and probably will have… a great cut by Ubi) 100% worth the $ 75 price tag to get all four

No attitude, no BS, simply a great place to get gorgeous. I love this place. I love Ricky. He rocks and so does his haircut on my head. His colorist, Alex and her assistant Nelly are really professional and sweet. They let me peruse through magazines that I never have time to read anywhere else(well, maybe the nail salon) and quietly make their magic. The small town feel of the salon is so relaxing and an added bonus to the service.

So I’m a guy who doesn’t like to figure certain things out once and be done with them — like finding a decent place to get a haircut. After I decided that $ 10 wasn’t really worth the bad haircuts I was getting at some place in the Village, I did some research… and found this place. There are two stylists here, and both are amazing: Ricky and UB. Ricky is the more expensive one, so I signed up for Ubie(U-B? not sure how to spell it). As it turns out, UB was sick that day, and Ricky cut my hair for the same price(awesome!!) — and it was the best haircut I’ve ever had. Some months later, I returned to UB and was yet again blown away. I’ve gone to her ever since, and will be getting my hair cut yet again next Saturday. It’s a little more than $ 10, but worth every penny. And it’s one less thing I have to worry about!

I’ve been to many of the best salons in Manhattan(and payed over $ 300 for just a cut) but I have not found one better than Snip N Sip for a really great cut without all the hype and nonsense. It IS possible to get a great cut in a warm and comfortable atmosphere and not have to settle for questionable talent. Ricky will give you what you are looking for, provide you with advice if you don’t know what you want, or give you the same look over and over again without sounding bored and leave you as pleased as you were on your first visit. I love the old fashioned look of his salon and the hands on attention you get from start to finish. He seems to be really booked these days but whatever the wait, it is worth it. He could easily charge a lot more than he does.
