SDI is NYC’s largest, AASM accredited sleep center staffed by board certified physicians. We specialize in the evaluation and treatment of disorders of sleep and wakefulness in adults and children, including behavioral sleep medicine. Our facility is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and our offices are affiliated with New York’s finest hospitals. SDI was named a «Center of Excellence» by New York Magazine’s issue on the Best Hospitals in New York.

The Sleep Disorders Institute (SDI) is staffed by board certified specialists who have devoted their careers to the practice of sleep medicine. With combined experience of over 50 years, our doctors are recognized as experts in this field. The team is skilled in a wide range of specialties including adult and pediatric sleep disorders, adult and adolescent psychiatry, and behavioral sleep disorders. SDI offers nocturnal polysomnography, split-night polysomnography, nocturnal seizure recording, home sleep testing, multiple sleep latency test, maintenance of wakefulness test, and individual consultation. SDI has been servicing the New York City area for over 25 years.

Business Owner
Dr. Gary Zammit received BA and MA degrees from Oakland University (Rochester, Michigan), and received the degree of Ph.D. from the University of Toledo (Toledo, Ohio). He completed his clinical internship and fellowship at the New York Hospital — Cornell University Medical College (White Plains, New York), with emphasis on sleep medicine and clinical research. Dr. Zammit currently is the Executive Director of the Sleep Disorders Institute and a Clinical Associate Professor at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Zammit founded the Sleep Disorders Institute at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital in 1990, which he later privatized in 2001. Dr. Zammit is a widely recognized expert in sleep medicine, has been the principal investigator on more than 150 CNS clinical trials, and has served as a consultant to several pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
