I went for the beef udon with pepper flakes. $ 8. Awesome! The beef udon was filled with assorted vegetables flooded with semi sweet flavorful fish broth and topped with marinated beef. Pepper flakes were also added. The defining part of the udon is the vegetables and the soup. The udon noodles were nothing spectacular and the beef was subpar. The next time i go there i would go for the vegetable udon without pepper flakes. The pepper flakes and the beef just added a lot of residue to the soup and made the experience less enjoyable.

I wanted to like this place. I come here all the time because its convenient, but the staff is extremely rude. I you want to give an attitude to your customers then you shouldn’t be in this business. Find another job! I spend over $ 20 a day on breakfast and lunch and the one day I do not have cash the lady tells me there is a minimum even though she sees me everyday. I told her she was ridiculous and even the man behind me said just let her pay with the card. I mean seriously, I’m a loyal customer stop being assholes staff!

I’ve walked in here for their breakfast sandwiches. Reasonably cheap for 2 eggs on a roll. I think Mike’s Deli has slightly better stuff with better service but this place is fine. they also sell Mash for 2.25 + tax which is an ok thing.

The selection at Silo Café is almost overwhelming! Sandwiches, salad, hot food, pasta, sushi… the list goes on. After much deliberation I decided on a salad. For 6.95 you get your choice of base(mixed greens, romaine or spinach) and five toppings. Very reasonably priced for a good sized salad(I couldn’t even finish it). The service was also good. The man behind the salad bar was very patient with me as I hummed and hawed over my topping choices. Too much choice can be a curse sometimes.

The food is average. Service is even worse. The staff thinks that they are doing you a favor by serving you. You are much better off going over one block to Open Kitchen on 33rd St.

The girl even told they don’t have hot coffee and they actually do!!! I can see it!!! Guys at the back where willing to make me pasta but I wanted something lighter :(

I used to love coming here for breakfast every day as their breakfast specials are reasonably priced for the area. One day they added ham to my egg sandwich and I asked them to remake it since I’m a vegetarian. The cook pitched a fit, threw the sandwich on the floor, proceeded to disrespectfully talk about me to the other cooks in Spanish(thinking I couldn’t understand him), and gave me a new sandwich that was poorly made and inedible. I would think that they’d have a little more respect for a regular, especially when the mistake was entirely their own. I would recommend giving your money to one of the other many cafes in the area who know how to treat their customers.

I had an appointment nearby and decided to stop for a quick bite. They had everything one would want for lunch-hot and cold food, salads, sandwiches etc. There is also a sitting area in the front and a larger one in the back-i wish i had not already had lunch. I would recommend and return!

I really like this place for lunch. They don’t have as big of a selection as Open Kitchen nearby, but definitely enough to choose from. Their price per pound is also a little cheaper than the other buffet places nearby. I haven’t had their sushi(yet), but they have an okay selection.

Been a long time customer until today. Asked the guy at the cutting station for grilled chicken on a hero roll with cheese. I was looking at the grilled chicken and hero rolls sitting right in front of him. I could have reached over and made the sandwich myself. He said I have to go over there pointing to the long sandwich line. I proceed to walk to Open Kitchen to get what I want without an attitude. There is no shortage of overpriced sandwiches in the area. The least I expect is to not be given an attitude. On a side note, this wasn’t the first time I have been given an attitude about ordering from here. I’m talking about you, breakfast guy. I wont be back Silo.

The staff is lovely! They are nice to polite guests. The food is good and the Udon soup is the best!

I picked up lunch from Silo today, as it was on my way and I was starving. Overall the food selection is decent, although one can find the exact same food in about a million other cafes in Manhattan. For example, Café Manhattan has a nearly identical hot /cold buffet. The roasted potatoes, Greek salad, etc. taste so identical that I wonder if all of these cafes utilize one main kitchen? But I suppose that is absolutely irrelevant to this review. In any case, Silo is clean, relatively friendly(when compared to Café Manhattan) and is less crowded than most places. It won’t win any awards but it does the job. Not sure I’ll be rushing to return, especially with the credit card minimum(which always poses a challenge for me since I rarely have cash).

I used to work two blocks from here and this was one of my go to lunch places. I love the Shrimp tempura udon noodle soup and the salad station. Its a quick and easy place for me to drop by and just pick what i want. Too bad i’m far away from it now.

I really wanted to love this place. My company just moved to the area and this is so convenient, I wanted it to be great. It’s not. It’s fine, not disasterous, but it so easily could be better. First thing they need is some staff training. No reason for the attitude — and not everyone, there are a few really nice people, but several have to learn what customer service is. Like not fooling around, with each other when customers are waiting to order or pay. I get that they are not robots, but many of us have limited time during lunch, so please just focus and in your spare time, have fun, But not while I have to get back to the office for a conference call. So, I’ll be going back, seriously, it’s right next door, and they have tons of choices, but won’t be back as often.

This café has a ton of selection and is fairer priced than nearby chains. While there is typically heavy traffic during lunch hours, it is well staffed so that the turnover is really quite decent. There is also plenty of seating to share! Options: Pizza Soup Sandwiches Salads Sushi and other Japanese fare And more! There’s definitely something for everyone. While not gourmet, it’s still a really good option for a quick lunch. What I didn’t like was their $ 7 minimum for c/c.

I give their SPICYRAMENALONE4 stars! But overall, 2 stars. Why is that? Because the guy behind the counter making the soup was incredibly rude, and Ramen is sold elsewhere, as are all the other buffet style items, like salad, sushi, etc. NYC is fairly competitive, and I think service counts. I asked what soup they had, he pointed at the menu. Which doesnt tell you that you kind of pick the ingredients, or what meats to choose from. I asked for Ramen, he proceeded to throw Udon in a pot. I said, I mean the skinny noodles, thin noodles? He showed me whole grain. I became dejected, and said, «My coworker gets Ramen from here.» He looked past me and said«Next!» There wasn’t a line. The other cook next to him felt kind of bad, and pulled a pack of Ramen from the shelf behind him. The Ramen itself had lots of veggies, was spicy, and they added an egg, which made it really good. But I hate bad service. You’re a work? I’m sorry – I know it’s hard, and we all do get tired. But guess what, fucker? I’m at work too, and this is my BREAK time, so don’t fuck it up by being a dick to me when I asked for RAMEN which you HAVE.

Compared to other commonplace(Chipotle, Cosi) and/or disgusting lunch places in the area, Silo is actually a great pick for a quick or long lunch. They have different stations for breakfast, deli, pizza and even asian cuisine and a long buffet of hot and cold foods. Unlike other similar places I’ve visited, the buffet foods here do not have a swarm of flies hovering over each dish and they all taste pretty good and fresh. I’ve also visited the sandwich station which provide freshly made sandwiches. Everything’s pretty good and cheap, exactly what I want for lunch. P. S. Credit card minimum is $ 7

When in doubt… head over to Silo! The prices are very affordable and they have practically anything and everything you might want to eat during lunch. From a sushi bar to a hot & cold salad bar, you will find it all. I went in a few weeks ago with some co-workers and it wasn’t too crowded. The lines to pay move rather quickly despite the crowd.

I dont know why I keep coming here for breakfast. I mean, I dont usually eat breakfast other than cereal, but sometimes I’m in the mood for egg whites, turkey sausage and cheese on a wrap. Not too complicated an order, I dont think, do you? must confuse the hell outta the cats at silo(or as we like to call it at work — choices) cause they NEVER get it right. Sometimes its regular eggs, sometimes its turkey, turkey bacon, or regular sausage. Sometimes its on a bagel. Maybe its the surprise that keeps me coming back. Never know what I’m going to get when I unwrap my sandwich. I think my problem is, I dont like to be bitchy to people just making a decent living. their salad bar and hot/cold buffet is off the chain. If you get there early everythings full and fresh and its slammin. So… three stars for the salad bar and the dudes behind the counter. They’re not the sharpest knives in the drawer, but they’re all really nice. I do find it strange that I can walk away from there spending like 18 bucks on lunch and not really knowing how. I gotta get it together, man.
