Sheryl D Clark, MD

I’ve been to so many different dermatologists looking for answers to my skin issues (mainly cystic acne). I still remember in my first appointment, she asked me ‘When do you need to be clear by?’ and I thought ‘When? I haven’t been clear in 20 years and you think it’s a matter of when?’ Dr. Clark did not let me down — she didn’t go through the standard treatments like most doctors do and found something that worked for me almost immediately. I literally switched my health insurance provider so that I could continue to see Dr. Clark regularly. She gets my highest recommendation.

I have been going to Dr. Clark for over 20 years. I started to see her for medical procedures and I was very pleased by her professional demeanor and her attentiveness. She has always been very personable and takes extra time with her patients whenever it is necessary.
About 10 years ago, I started to ask Dr. Clark for advice regarding wrinkles, aging skin and sun damage. She talked to me extensively regarding a range of options that are available, but has not been overly aggressive in making recommendations. I always feel that her patients’ concerns and objectives are her first priority. After the procedures, she asks me if I feel okay and if I am pleased with the results. In addition, she keeps me apprised of new technologies as they come on the market.
Her current staff is extremely polite and cordial, and they have helped me several times when I had paperwork problems with my insurance company.
In brief, she is an excellent doctor who cares about her patients and takes extra time to address both their medical needs and their questions regarding cosmetic procedures. I highly recommend her.

First visit over one year ago, second and final visit today, 7÷15÷14. There is a reason for this.
During the first appointment she and her staff were rushed, she wouldn’t answer all of my questions – appointments cover one patient issue and only one patient issue, i.e., a body check of moles and freckles or an acne issue/​concern but not both, that requires a second appointment.
For both appointments I was shown to a patient room 15 – 20 minutes after the scheduled appointment time and waited a further 10 minutes to be seen by Dr Clark.
The receptionist, Mickey, was less than courteous both over the phone and in person. Actually said to me, «if you hadn’t interrupted me…» during a phone call. Rude and inappropriate.
During my second, and final, appointment Dr Clark mentioned that changes to my diet would ease my symptoms and «help with the fat around [my] stomach». I found the comment about my weight tactless.
Dr Clark proved marginally competent in her abilities to diagnose and recommend treatment but I found her «bedside manner» and the manner of her staff not worth another visit.

I am not sure what it is with New York dermatologists, but I have had no luck so far finding a decent one in the Upper East Side area! I saw amazing ones in Miami and was very happy with their knowledge and professionalism for many years.
I was excited to visit Dr. Clark, as I had read some good reviews on Unilocal.However, I was prescribed a gel for something that (a) they told me would be short-​term use and a permanent solution, and (b) was a retinoid gel, which I had mentioned during my initial exam with the assistant that I had a serious reaction to this ingredient in the past. After I had ordered this expensive gel through my insurance company and it arrived, I discovered that it will need to be used continuously. It is not a short-​term solution and it is a retinoid, which I am extremely sensitive to.
The other reason I came in was to have a small benign lump on my leg looked at and to ask if it could be removed. It had previously been excised in the last city I lived in. Dr. Clark told me they would retrieve my medical records from my previous doctor and would let me know the diagnostic code, so that I could contact my insurance company to find out if I had coverage. I never heard back from the Dr. about whether they had received the old records, so I contacted them a few times. Now, they are telling me they have received the records and that I need to make an appointment to have another conversation with the Dr., as she needs to look at it again. I explained that she just recently looked at it and I wasn’t warned that I would need to come back several times. They also refused to give me the code to check with my insurance. After the second appointment, I would have to come back a THIRD time if she decides to perform the excision or choose another treatment plan. What could a treatment plan possibly be for this? It is usually very straightforward.
Sounds to me like a clear case of making unnecessary additional claims on my insurance company. This is why our premiums are so high! In the past, I have never had to keep coming back to the dermatologist to have minor excisions.
I also found Dr. Clark to be lacking in bedside manner, fairly cold and condescending. Just my two cents, but I will be asking friends for recommendations for dermatologists they trust and who will not keep dragging me back to their office unnecessarily.

Dr. Clark is an exceptional physician and person, and is the dermatologist to whom I have entrusted myself (a NYC physician) as well as many of my patients for the past 15 – 20 years. She is caring and careful, and takes the time to both listen and explain. She has a wide knowledge base and extensive experience in both traditional Dermatologic issues as well as advanced AntiAging techniques, and is unique in how she looks beyond the skin to also take into account how our unique internal physiology and metabolism affects skin issues. Her office staff are warm and professional, and her medical assistants are clearly well trained, thorough and experienced.

First visit a month ago.
Rushed, wasn’t able to ask all my questions– she was rushing out the door as I was still asking questions.
Front office girl wouldn’t have smiled if you paid her. And neither would the nurse practitioner.
Taken in over a ½ hour late during my work-​day.
Only reason I gave two stars is because I felt she was somewhat competent in her abilities to diagnose.
They did a procedure without disclosing the cost. I should have asked but they definitely should’ve disclosed prior to doing the minor procedure.
What is a plain fact is that a Dr can be good but if staff members aren’t so eager to be even somewhat friendly then it sadly taints the entire experience.
It’s just that there are too many derms out there to have to settle, thank goodness for that, CT and NYC!

I have been to see Dr. Clark twice for minor health concerns and her advice was great.

Pretty good doc. Kindof annoying that she wouldn’t talk to me about mild acne during a full body skin cancer check. She wanted me to come back for another appointment.
I bought the benzol peroxide wash from her office and was very happy with it.
When I came back for my second appointment she didn’t remember me at all even though I was there 2 weeks before. Hense the 3 star review instead of 4.

I went to get a coolsculpting for my stomach with a voucher I bought for 800. Although everyone was nice– I don’t think the procedure did anything– I mean nothing. I did however experience a lot of pain afterwards– so much more than I was told. We had to start the machine twice because it was soooooo painful. The doc gave me I think a valum but I didn’t do much. It was worse than surgeries I have had. For almost a month I was in pain– numb and anything that touched my stomach hurt– even clothes. The doctor was nice enough to call back when I left a message and offered to give me neurontin. I really don’t want to take a neurologic med. Although I think the office staff and docteor were nice and professional– I don’t recommend the coolsculpt for the pain I experienced and lack of results.

I’ve been meaning to go to the dermatologist for awhile now, I hadn’t been in years. I just went to get a check up to make sure everything was ok and to see if there was anything in particular I should be doing to reduce fine lines and wrinkles (what girl doesn’t worry about this). Dr. Clark was very nice and thorough. She ended up doing a skin biopsy on an area she was concerned about. She was very gentle and made me feel very comfortable during the procedure. I would highly recommend her. She is going to have a «open house» (call to get date) where you can ask any questions you may have.

I’ve been to some nice dermatologists over the years, but Dr. Clark is hands down the most thorough I’ve ever been to. She was very attentive and informative, and was very open about what treatment options for post-​surgical scars and stretch-​marks would or might not be covered by my insurance– no sneaky prescriptions that might cost you by surprise! She made some suggestions for over-​the-​counter products that would be good for my every day use and gave me a sample of the prescription she gave me. Her staff was very courteous and professional and I’ll definitely be going back to this practice.

I’ve been going to Dr. Clark for two years now and could not be happier. I am acne-​free for the first time since I was 11. I’ve had things removed from my face a few times now, and I never felt any pain or was left with any scars. She’s by far the best dermatologist I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen PLENTY over the years. Everyone in the office is great, too.

I’ve been going to Dr. Clark for years because I am extremely conscious about my skin, hair, nails etc. Other dermatologists have disappointed me in the past and I’ve felt as if Dr. Clark has given me a plethora of options regarding my concerns.
She will be sensitive to your issues and I’ve always felt open in asking her any type of question that comes to mind without me being worried about her reaction. She is extremely professional and has a nice/​friendly staff.
Dr. Clark will also give you a ton of options to fight aging, break outs and has helped a friend of mine with his hairloss and made it more manageable. Hairloss is one of her many specialties for both men and women.
Give her a try — you will not be disappointed.
