Cristian is a very friendly guy and an expert at haircut. It’s a great experience to do a haircut at this barbershop.

A good haircut for a decent price. Had a nice chat with Christian while getting the hair done. Recommended.

I started sporting a beard and don’t live in Brooklyn so based on the reviews decided to try Sharps. Nice location and I was very pleased with my trim from Al. The trim itself deserved 5 stars but they lost a star for service.
Sharps is one of the new annoying breed of barbers that demand you make a reservation but doesn’t feel any obligation to seat you on time. I prefer the ‘old school’ system of sit and wait. I can live with having to make a reservation. But having to make a reservation to sit and wait is just rude.

I have only ever had cuts less than $ 25 so I was really looking forward to this. ‘Went there twice: once for a full haircut; second time for the ‘sides & back’ thing.
Full cut: below average cut… The guy was more interested in chatting than cutting my hair. It was almost as if he was having to go thru the inconvenience of cutting my hair while he chatted with every person present within earshot. Also, took a break to take a seemingly unimportant phone call from his wife. ‘used clippers most of the time — which I take exception to if you charge well above the average barber & let the customer specify that they want scissor cut — The result: a haircut that looked barely decent. 1 star for this guy.
‘sides and back’: the girl is good & detail-​oriented. Only flaw I would point out us she did the finishing with the trimmer instead of a razor. 3.5 stars for her.
I was surprised though when the cashier charged me more than double the ‘sides & back’ price. Turns out that in their book ‘sides & back’ only means the finishing. 1 star for that.
I know they offer you a drink but I don’t really care for that. Sorry. Lastly, they need to fix the tipping mechanism. You enter it on the screen in front of the cashier — which is just an awkward situation.

I ve been a customer of Erol for the past 5 years and I always come back to him even if I change job or move to another part of town. Very satisfied!

I moved to NYC just over three years ago so the search was on for a great barber. As a former military officer, my standards for good service and repeatable quality in a welcoming environment were high. Sharps delivers, especially Erol and Paul. I tried fancier shops like John Allan and lower grade places like the ubiquitous Reamir chains but none deliver like Sharps. After nearly two years of service, I offer my full endorsement. Make an appointment and be on time, they are busy enough that walk-​ins are difficult.
Plus, what’s not to like when you can enjoy one of NYC’s best burgers at the Burger Joint behind the velvet cloak in the lobby, a great glass of wine in the Knave bar, or even slip next door to Kingside for a good meal or cocktail — so it’s a great location as well.

After years of trying to find the right barber, I can finally say my search is over. Ask for Paul. Best cut I’ve had in the city, and I’ve tried a lot of places.
Paul also said I can come in whenever I want for a quick clean up. Nobody does that anymore. Like two hair cuts for the price of one.
I also enjoyed the free bottles sodas and coffees. Nice touch. Great service and fun crowd. You won’t be disappointed.

Went here for a year, and this place used to be great. But after being taken over by women, the atmosphere, quality of cuts, and quality of service have all become terrible. Hard to find a good, true barbershop these days, and clearly another one bites the dust. The place is now rife with tatted/​pierced fembots and dudes who complain about their moms. Avoid at all costs.

If your coming here for a haircut see Cassie she’s the best. She takes her time to get it right gives you suggestions and is very gentle. Before getting my hair cut by Cassie I used to go to some Russian guy in Brooklyn. He was not as good and not as friendly.

Tucked away in a corner of Manhattan’s Park Meridian Hotel is a gem of hair artistry — Sharps Barber and Shop. Picture this: 4 chairs, wood trim, décor I would describe in a word as «gentlemanly.» As you’re seated, you’re offered a beverage — whether it be diet coke or PBR is up to you.
But let’s not get caught up on trivialities. This is a place for great haircuts. Take Erol, the only professional I’ve let touch my hair in the last 10 months. Erol is a hair visionary. He will give you stellar input on length and style, and leave you without a hair-​related doubt or qualm. You’ll never go to anyone else.
And the straight razor shave — an exquisite spa-​like experience which, if you have an extra $ 40 and 30 minutes kicking around, is bliss.
Sharps offers the best $ 40 dollar haircut in Manhattan. Now, for those of you who prefer to get your hair done at a place with the word «cuts» in the title, let me say this. There are many areas to skimp in terms of finances. Clothes shopping, how many times a week you order from Seamless, Starbucks. Sure, skimp away. But your haircut is not one of those. At least, not anymore.
Many people believe a boy becomes a man when he’s bar mitzvah’d, or sees his father cry, or sees a dead body for the first time. I say, these moments are significant, but you truly become a man the first time you walk into Sharps.

Feel badly posting a negative review of a small business in NYC but I got the worst straight edge shave I have ever received anywhere. Almost no preparation to my skin, shave includes strokes against the grain. My neck is covered in cuts, redness, and overall irritation.

Albert at Sharps has been my barber for at least 8 months. From the first cut, it was clear to me that he is a master at the craft. I have unreasonably high standards for most things in life, but especially barbers. Al is quick, precise, and fun to talk to.
Sure it’s on the high end of the cost spectrum, but I always leave feeling like a million bucks.

I must recommend Cassie Kurtz, one of the lady barbers who handles men’s haircuts, beard trims and hot shaves. She cuts my CEO’s hair, and it’s always on-​point. Kudos! Great staff, too — very friendly.
The venue itself is beautiful, intimate and very traditional in an old-​world sense. Definitely recommend to men in the city!

The place is clean and well kept. I asked them to shape my beard from showing a picture and they worked meticulously on it. The barber paid a lot of attention to detail and was especially patient with my changing requests. I enjoyed the shave that took almost an hour. I would definitely go back again.
I paid 41 $ plus tip for the beard shave, it was worth it.
The shop is located in the Le Parker Meridien Hotel.

Brilliant Experience.
I was a hotel guest and a walk-​in customer. They have a brilliant little shop in the Parker Meridien Hotel on W56th Street. I had Teo Arias give me a straight blade shave and it was fantastic. It’s male pampering, the equivalent of a 30min men’s spa experience. The use of hot and cold towels, and the beverage options of coffee or beer, make this place a must-​experience for all men everywhere. Check it out. I’m will now make this a regular stop on my trips to New York.

Great nostalgic barbershop. Had my hair cut here while traveling through town. Very friendly. Did a great job on my Flat top hair cut.
It’s hard to find someone who can cut a flat top when you’re traveling. This IS the shop to go to.

Ask for Paul. by phone, walk in, whatever, ASK FOR PAUL and thank me later when you walk outta the shop with the slickest cut you’ve ever gotten.
After seeing Pauly for a year every 2 – 3 weeks Sharp’s has earned themselves a life long customer as long as he’s there. After my first visit there I knew this guy was legit, not only did I get a great cut, he made several suggestions on what sort of products would work well with my hair type to helping me plan out what to ask for in future cuts based on the style I was looking for. I never needed to jot those bullet points down though because I was so satisfied that I didnt even need to consider the insane amount of compliments I received to decide that Paul was my lifeline from here on out.
After the first few cuts I now just plop myself in the chair and chat about Sunday night HBO and shoot the shit because he has filed away the idiosyncrasies I asked for in his memory and get to work.
Paul’s work is top notch and I can tell he’s building himself a good reputation because the guy is never without a guy in his chair, even on days I walk in to my appointment on and hes booked solid he NEVER has rushed a cut, you arent done till the work has been done, and done right. Even after I get up off the chair Pauly won’t send me out onto the street with a shirt collar covered in freshly cut hair till its brushed off. Thats not his style. Simply put the level of commitment Pauly shows is top notch from start to finish.
Visiting Sharp’s as often as I do now I see Pauly’s other clients and witness that he is working with a broad range of hair types and styles with his other clients, from the guys who are thinning to the lucky guys with perfect John Stamos hair.
The shop is rugged and old school. Sit down and your barber can grab you a coke, a beer a scotch and a chill conversation.
If you find yourself looking for a new Barber or wanna switch things up go see Pauly and let him do what he does better than any barber I’ve worked with, tell him Av sent you.

Two words: Perfect shave.
I’ve never been to these kind of establishments before but it’s something every guy should experience at least once in their lives. From the look and feel of the place to the staff, and the entire process of this elaborate shave, It lived up to my every expectations of what an old school shave should be.
Paul was just spot on on all aspects and my face felt smoother then a Baby’s …
Men! Add this place onto your bucket list. It’s a must.

Decent place that’s open until 8. That’s a plus since my usual places close before 6. On the downside, it’s $ 26 for a clipper cut. I just get my hair buzzed so from the time I sat down in the chair until the time I paid my bill and left was 8 minutes.
Also, it’s cash only even though the website says it takes card and the mirror right over the cash register says they take credit cards. I would have been able to give a bigger tip if I’d been able to pay with a card.
Oh well, now I know and if I really need to get a cut and don’t care about paying twice as much as my regular place, then I’ll definitely be back.
