Fantastic Management Company.
As a broker I’ve dealt with all kinds of management companies, but Shalimar is a little different.
If I’m looking for a good deal for one of my clients, I look for their listings first. Great prices, in well maintained buildings, where you always see a super working hard.
I think it speaks for itself, when I haven’t had a client move out of one of their buildings yet.

Lived at 90 Clinton and loved every minute of it. Cassandra, the property manager, was always super helpful with any question or problem we had. Highly recommend moving in to any of their apartments; they’re a pleasure to work with!

The people behind this management company are incompetent. If you want to deal with property managers who don’t respond to emails or telephone, go right ahead and rent with these idiotclots.
Also 90 Clinton Street smells like decomposing fish because the supermarket in the retail space let their products rot in the street all summer long.

It is difficult for me to write this review without violating a large number of the Unilocal Content Guidelines, principally those regarding profanity and abusive language. But I will do my best.
I have lived at their 90 Clinton Street property for 8 years and have experienced nothing but poor treatment and general mismanagement from Shalimar and its staff.
For example (and these are just a few):
1. Four of the apartments (including mine) have terraces and three of the four (including mine) were burglarized before the building took any security measures to prevent people from being able to get onto the terraces. To describe the management as «cheap» is like calling Attila the Hun unfriendly. A mild understatement to say the least.
2. When someone attempted to break in to my apartment again and broke the lock on my door, it took the management over a week to send someone to fix my door. They didn’t want to spend the money on a locksmith!
3. The Chinese fish market on the ground floor stinks of, yes, fish.
4. I wish I could post a picture of the bucket of cigarette butts I have collected that my upstairs neighbors have thrown onto my terrace (the other tenants in the building are about as considerate as the management). And of course, the management has done nothing about this.
5. The bathroom cabinet fell out of the wall because they were installed incorrectly (it was only the paint stuck to the edges that held it in place for almost a year).
6. The heat doesn’t work in the apartment and I have to run two space heaters all winter (thank goodness this winter wasn’t very cold).
7. And worst of all, they just raised my rent $ 500. When I asked that the landlord call me, this is the incoherent email response from Cassandra, their virtually illiterate property manager.
«He does not call tenants — not because he does not want to but he hired me to do so. I have been in management for 14 years with 2 large corporations in which I managed 4,000 –6,000 units (co-​op, condo– rental) before coming here 4.5 years ago The president or ceo never calls the tenant. The PM does.
Please let me know which management firm that the President or Ceo will call a tenant after he/​she informs the PM his/​her wishes.
Name any firms that a President or CEO will talk to a client after they instruct their supervior or manager on what to do or say
On thing i can do is talk on your behalf. But talking negatively does not do it. When he ask well how is Michael I will have to inform him what you said»
Please note that this is quoted in whole with no omissions or changes. To answer her rhetorical question about what CEO calls his clients — well, this one does. I own my own business with 23 employees and we have 3500+ clients, and if a client is upset or needs attention from me, he gets it. That’s called customer service.

This is my first apartment in the city, so I was a bit confused as to where to look and how to approach brokers. A friend of mine recommended Shalimar and I have had no problems ever since. The people i spoke to were very helpful and professional. I haven’t had any major issues with the apartment yet (just moved in). I have dealt with some pretty bad management companies, but I have to say this is one of the pretty decent ones.
