You don’t really have a choice of opting out of your pap test here. If you ask to opt out, they tell you they will cancel your contraceptive prescription after a month.

Like many reviewer said Dr. Shahnoz is great. The front desk people are so rude, always put me on hold for 30 min when I call. They are so unprofessional and not a pleasant experience. I kept getting billed for small amounts like $ 10 extra dollars for my co-​pay. I always have been paying $ 20, but they sent me a bill for $ 10 and on it was hand written you have to pay a $ 30 co-​pay 6 month after I came to visit. I will be going to another doctor, cannot deal with the front desk people.

Great doctor. I did a lot of research on finding a new doctor in NYC and glad to have found Dr. Rustamova. Front desk can do a better job at their job.

I love the doctors here, however I the front desk is EXTREMELY unhelpful. insurance mailed me a letter requesting information so i called central park medical practice to retrieve the diagnosis code and tax ID and they said they could not give it to me and that i had to have cigna call them. MANY MANY other doctors have given me this information to send to insurance and this process would have been over. now the front desk girl (i did not catch her name, but she had a raspy voice) has me calling insurance to wait on hold to make a request for them to call her. when, now i will have to follow up to make sure this happens. ALL THE TROUBLE COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. I will be finding a new doc. this is is not worth the hassle.

I have been under Dr. Rustamova’s care now for three years. She has been a phenomenal, compassionate doctor! I went to her after a bad experience with another OBGYN. She is good at relating with you and giving you information on whatever you need. Her midwife is also very good at what she does. I would definitely recommend her to friends looking for new doctors. I love her total body wellness approach. I look forward to continuing my care under her as well.

I love Dr Rustamova. She’s an incredible doctor. I was with her for 7 years, and recently left because I just couldn’t deal with her front desk anymore. It was fine when it was once a year, but when I started having issues and had to see her more frequently, they just caused me endless headaches and stress. They are unprofessional and incompetent and based on the recent reviews, I’m not the only one who feels this way. It’s a shame because she’s a great doctor.

This was THE SINGLE WORST experience I have ever had at doctor’s office — and that includes two colonoscopies. They (1) sent me to the wrong office, (2) couldn’t find my appointment when I finally arrived at the right office (despite me having confirmed just 30 minutes before!), (3) didn’t inform me that the doctor I was supposed to see wasn’t actually in and that only a physcian’s assistant would be available (so I didn’t get the annual exam as scheduled); and (4) gave me an Rx in a 3-​month format that my insurance would not pay for. Spent 1.5 hours of my day at the «appointment,» plus another hour on the phone trying to get the Rx rectified. Do yourself a gigantic favor and AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Dr. Rustamova is outstanding! She will spend as much time as you need answering your questions with kindness, insight and understanding. She has a wonderful bed-​side manner, and is extremely knowledgeable. The only reason I would NOT give this review 5 stars is the wait-​time in her office. I have been seeing Dr. Rustamova for many years now (at least 7 years), and I often wait between 45 minutes to over an hour for my scheduled appointments. It’s too bad they can’t seem to do something about the scheduling because she truly is a terrific doctor.

I like Dr. Rustamova but her front office staff is terrible. Once I called to make an appointment and specifically asked to see Dr. Rustamova — waited for 3 weeks for that appointment. When I arrived I was told that dr Rustamova doesn’t work on Saturdays. (Why did they make an appointment on Saturday then?) I was rescheduled for the next morning at 10am. When I arrived she wasn’t there as well — she was at some surgery. I waited for 2 hours till she arrives. (Why did staff made an appointment at 10 when they saw in her calendar that she had a surgery that morning?)
Now I’m trying to get in contact with the doctor for 4 days — every day I call the office twice and ask them to leave the message for the doctor so she would call me (I need to get explanation on my results and find out what is the next step in my treatment). I cannot get the doctor on the phone for 5 minutes. Started to think what is wrong — the front desk staff of the doctor doesn’t want to pay the attention to her patients???
Tomorrow will be day #5 — I’ll try to contact the doctor again. If it will be unsuccessful I’m going to change the doctor. I like dr. Rustamova but this wait time is terrible. If you don’t have time and expect fast service — don’t go there.

Love the dr. but the wait time in the exam room has been an hour twice in a row now. Who has time for that? I’d rather go elsewhere.

This is not a review on the doctor but on Dr. Rustamova’s front office. I personally had a terrible experience with the front office. I have a very high deductible insurance and thus am very cautious about incurring any charges and do as much pre-​work as possible to avoid confusion. I called the insurance company before my procedure and was told that the procedure would be 100% covered by insurance and no cost to me. I then went spoke to Dr. Rustamova’s front office — telling them I have a very high deductible insurance and that insurance had told me this was 100% covered and that I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to get charged extra. They told me no problem — they were aware and this was completely covered. I went for 2 visits and at the end of each visit — I repeated what I had said and asked them if I owed anything and was told no. On my 3^rd and final visit for a follow-​up — when I once again told them my situation and asked if it would be covered — it wasn’t until I was sitting in the exam room waiting for the doctor — when I heard the front desk whispering between them (paraphrasing — but the gist is the same) — «Does she know she owes $ 600 on her balance? We should probably let her know… Has anyone told her? No?» After hearing that, I exited the exam room and asked them «Was that me you were talking about?» — and finally a woman said — «Yes, you owe $ 600 on your bill». Of course I was upset at that point — given something that was supposed to be FREE turned out to be $ 600. Eventually, after lots of negotiation — I got it down to $ 200 — but still ended up paying $ 200 that for something that was supposed to be covered by insurance. Their explanation was that «oh, we did the procedure — but then we did extra exams that are required by the office which weren’t covered». Why didn’t ANYONE tell me about this? Even after I repeatedly told them my situation of having a high-​deductible insurance. I’m fine if someone tells me I’m going to charge you X, and then I can decide if it’s worth it — but it upsets me to no end when they make all these charges without telling you in advance. My internal medicine doctor has never done this to me. Last time I ever visit this office.

I just got back from my first appt. with Dr. Rustamova and could not be more pleased with my experience. I felt extremely comfortable with her from beginning to end. I am very happy to have found a doctor that takes her time, listens, and calms me down. 5 stars!

I am not so easily impressed w/​doctors and I am not going to her for a once a year check up or routine matters. I have a very complicated and extensive history that have baffled other doctors. I feel so confident w/​her. I am so grateful I found this doctor. Its been a few years now and she has made progress where 10 years of going to other doctors did nothing.
Dr. Rustamova is a truly rare and great doctor. She thinks outside the box while still having a tremendously broad knowledge base. She is patient, understanding, thorough, smart and extremely competent. You rarely come across a doctor whose outlook on medicine is really about putting PEOPLE first.

I have to echo the positive reviews here about Dr. Rustamova! I’ve had my share of quacky gyns in my past and was relieved to find a doctor who immediately made me feel at ease about my health concerns. I mean, being knowledgeable in her field is a MUST, but on top of that she is super attentive, has a great personality and really takes the time to address your questions and explain everything you need to know.
The wait time could be better… it was a 50 min wait time during my first visit — (minus 1 star for that), but once you get passed that, it was somewhat smooth sailing from there. Appointments are flexible and it won’t take months to get on her calendar… (SUPERLIKE!) and the location is super convenient to get to…
What more can you ask for?! I’d say she’s a keeper! =)

Dr. Rustamova is amazing. She’s an excellent doctor and a terrific woman. As soon as you sit down she talks to you and connects to you too.
I’ve never met another gynecologist like her. Including my father and two brothers who are also ob gyns:-)

I have never been so compelled to write a review as I am right now. After spending the last 30 minutes on the phone with Dr. Rustamova I am so overwhelmingly impressed with this lady, I can’t even find the words. I have been a patient of hers for several years since she took over the practice from a retiring female GYN (who was my original doctor) During the transition Dr. Rustamova didn’t miss a beat. She came into the practice as if she was a Doctor there all along. I felt extremely comfortable with her right from start! Fast forward several years later, I am still a happy patient and will continue to visit her office indefinitely.
PS — her staff is efficient, kind, and they have always been extremely helpful (even when i didn’t have insurance they would recommend the best solutions for me based on my budget) Kudos to the entire team…

This is from the perspective of a 20-​something working girl in the city — NOT trying to get pregnant anytime soon :)
I’ve been going to Dr. Rustamova for about 3 years now. I’ve had my ups and downs with my female health but I’ve always felt very safe in the hands of Dr. Rustamova. She is extremely thorough and knowledgable. She explains things in a way that the patient can understand. Her staff is caring and I might note that I have seen the same staff for all 3 years (a few new ones here and there). I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my appointment time. Her office is well kept, clean and comfortable.
And on a side note — the doc has excellent fashion sense.

I have to update my last review. I wrote it after only 1 visit and things went downhill. The first visit I told Doc that I was planning to get pregnant and she asked many questions, seemed thorough and gave me an RX for prenatal vitamins. My next visit was when I was about 5 weeks pregnant and it was like a light switch was flipped. The nurse took blood, the tech did an ultrasound and then the Doc saw me for only a few minutes. She was short and a little rude about it all, especially since I had tons of questions to ask. My second visit was a few days later to have blood work done. Again, she spent no time with me or explained what was going on. The last visit (before I decided I needed a new doctor) was to do another set of bloodwork and ultrasound. She again popped into the room to make ask if I was taking prenatal vitamins (even though on the chart it would show she prescribed an RX) and that was it. No time for questions at all. When I called to get my blood results, the nurse (she may have only been a receptionist) wasn’t able to tell me what the results meant. If they have asked me to call for the results, then they should have the Doc available for questions and explanation.
**The most alarming part is that my last sonogram showed the fetal heart rate was much lower than normal. I asked the tech if it it was normal and she said yes. The Doc didn’t say one word to me about it. The way I found out was I asked for a copy and google’d it. It’s absolutely absurd! What kind of doctor either 1) doesn’t take the time to look at a chart or test results before coming in to talk to a patient or 2) withholds KEY information. This information, for those who don’t know much about pregnancy, is an indicator for a miscarriage.
*Another major complaint is right after my first visit the Doc sold a Groupon for laser hair removal. So this makes the office very busy with «patients» and may explain why she doesn’t have time to spend with actual pregnant patients.
OVERALL, if you are looking for a serious gyno then look elsewhere. If you are just looking for someone to refill your birth control RX or you have little/​few medical issues (and don’t mind waiting in a crowded office), then she is fine.

I was in and out of the office in 45 minutes, which is not too bad. I think I got there 10 minutes early to fill out paperwork and I was in the room waiting for my examination about 20 minutes later. There were not many patients at 11 am so try to get an early appointment if you can.
Dr. Rustamova was friendly and worked very quickly. The only thing I didn’t like was she asked me if I was going to have a baby soon and then seemed disappointed when I said no. She made me feel bad about not wanting to start a family. Otherwise everything was quick and easy.
