The best store in NYC at the time, Jeremy Scott put me on to this store in 09 was heartbroken when I heard of it doors closing for good.

This was the best store in NYC. I bought my first Raf Simons piece here. RIP Seven.

I’ve been shopping at Seven New York since the year they first opened on Orchard Street. (they moved to a new location on Mercer St since)
I have always said to myself (and to others) that seven is my favorite store and its not just the clothes and designers, its everything! the staff, management and the cool art installations. It is a rare occasion to receive the type of customer service as you do at Seven. You could spend as little as $ 100 or as much as $ 1000 and you will still get treated with respect and receive awesome fashion advice and friendly service. I completely disagree with Melanie R. The employees at Seven are knowledgeable, friendly and have an incredible zeal for fashion and what they do. Maybe she was intimidated without cause by the shop because she had a preconceived notion that they would be pretentious. I understand that feeling because I feel that way when I go to Bergdorfs, but never to Seven! I recently purchased several items from Seven and will continue to be a loyal customer.

Seven is pretty much like a mecca for me. The staff is incredibly nice and not pushy. You don’t feel pressured to buy something, but I eventually did because some things ESPECIALLY their t-​shirt selection was just too good to pass up. They’re really informed and you can truly tell that they are passionate about what they do. A++++++++!

got myself a pair of AWESOME house of holland tights!!! I had been wanting these for awhile and they were sold out online… but when I emailed them on their website they were super prompt about answering about when they were getting them in store, and then even offered to put me on a mailing list when they got the shipment in.
Lovely little store with really interesting cuts and I love that they give you a tote bag and then say if you bring it back you’ll get $ 5 off your next purchase – their little efffort to be green!

Scandanasians: Asians who are into the Scandavi Chic minimalist aesthetic. C’est moi.
Although, I’m also very fond of the Belgian architectural homeboys from the Antwerp Academy and you know how I feel about the Brits… but geography was not a part of my currick, so let’s move on, shall we?
Seven has everything. I mean, seriously, spiritual twins much? Who else would have racks of dark monotony draped like puzzles, and JCDC with the most colors ever? That said, I hate my life. I wish I could have everything I want: Braganza leather leggings for the winter time and every color combo of Kirkwood sandals for the summer. Of course, you can find them all at Seven. And I would be 6 inches taller, so I could wear Gareth Pugh without looking like a trainwreck piece of ironic fashion/​art installation.
I like to come here after being sickorexic for 2 weeks, wearing my finest expensive fashion hipster chic, that way the bitchy fashion gays aren’t giggling at my fat amateur ass browsing the racks. What’s that, you’re wearing post 2003 Helmut Lang and a Topshop wanna be Rick leather jacket? You’re so wannabe.
The beauty of this stuff is that it’s on trend yet kind of timeless at the same time, you know? Dangly black cloth never goes out of style. Ever
They also make funny t-​shirts. Like, this one said, «I was touched by Terry» (Richardson). Yeah, you wish, girl, because then you might still have a career instead of whoring for publicity with anonymous allegations.

One of the very a few downtown retailers to get a pair Nicholas Kirkwood!

Seven has evolved from a nu-​rave haven into a great store that really caters to the pre-​Atelier (i.e. don’t drop $ 1k+ on every piece) crowd. The salesmen are knowledgeable and passionate, and the big Japanese dude with long hair is by far the best to work with.
I must admit I don’t go in as often as I used to because my tastes have changed a bit, but for anyone that wants a solid mix of Japanese and European designers at decent prices, it’s a must visit.

This store carries a good variety of high end designers and although I’ve only purchased two items here, they’ve both become staple pieces in my wardrobe. On the other hand there are a lot of items here that would be difficult for me to pull off. I can’t justify paying the high price tags to experiment with them, but I still appreciate the forward design and the people that can integrate them into their own collection. I always enjoy browsing the selection and I’ll continue dropping by Seven once in a while, especially when sale season starts up.
On another note, I usually love the post-​punk /​synthwave /​darkwave music that’s playing in here … but never have the courage to ask what compilation is currently in the deck.

I suppose Seven’s reputation precedes it, as I’d heard about it long before I dared set foot inside. Known for it’s exquisite choice of avant-​garde and obscure designers (as well as the outrageous pricing that goes along with such things), I feared that it would be yet another boutique full of snobby salesmen and pretentious shoppers. Fortunately, upon walking in I saw that the salespeople were all very friendly, and despite having seen much of their stock online already, of course both the clothes and the store in person were a sight to behold.
The designers that Seven stocks and the excellent salespeople make it one of NYC’s better boutiques, however, as stated by many other reviewers, a lot of the clothing is virtually unwearable to anyone but the most courageous of fashion fanatics. The pricing also makes regular visits for anything but window shopping a little hard for most people, but it’s worth the trip just to get a look at what’s happening on the cutting edge of fashion.

Outrageously ridiculous and beautiful collections.
I love SEVEN even though I only recently made my first purchase here. This is probably the best place to find «avant-​garde» designers in the U.S. under one roof. Much of it is psychedelic, some of it is totally useless, half of it is priced out of this stratosphere and all of it is lust worthy.
The best thing about SEVEN is that they are not afraid to buy deep into collections and pick the most obscure and knockout pieces. For instance, Seven’s direct indirect competitor is OAK. However, SEVEN’s collection makes OAK’s selections look downright Bible Belt conservative. (I do love OAK, so that is not a diss).
Some of my favorites include Bernhard Willhelm, C-​Neeon, Hood by Air, KTZ and Preen. In addition, the staff is very relaxed and friendly — no attitude, no hard sales. That’s a rarity.
Yes the prices are steep. Did you ever think you would pay $ 700 for a hoodie? Well, you just might. Here you are paying for limited distribution, some of these pieces you just cannot find anywhere else. That’s a promise.
If you love bold pieces in your wardrobe, you have to check SEVEN out.

I love Seven soo so much. If I could afford it I’d buy most of wardrobe here. Seven is the best place to find avant garde, creative designers like Bernhard Willhelm and Cosmic Wonder. The clothes are always exiting and interesting, may be not wearable for everyone, but definitely for me! I check the web shop embarrassingly often for updates and I always visit at least once when I’m in New York. Joseph, Steve and the staff are so nice to.

This place was a trip. Generally not my style… but appreciate the fashion and will probably find something here on one of my visits to NYC. Def worth stopping by if your walking around shopping.

This store reminds me of the shops in Daikanyama. Industrial, urban, funky. Simplistic design for a store that holds international couture.
They deserve every one of the 5 stars given. They stand out among all the other SoHo shops who try to have edgy couture. This place has the best of the best.
They also have Common Projects kicks. That deserves 5 stars alone.

As my 100^th review on Unilocal,it shall be about Seven.
So, It’s typically not one of the places that I enjoy going to shop, only because of the fact that Seven’s whole thing seems very… Futuristic retro 80s. However, it doesn’t mean that I’m not in love with it. I just can’t always wear it.
Seven rocks the likes of industrial fashion designer Raf Simons, my favorite womenswear designer Gareth Pugh, the colorful yet funky prints of Jeremy Scott & his collaboration with Ksubi, the crazily overpriced yet darkwave garments from Bless, the infamous designer slogan tee’s from House of Holland modeled by the ever so beautiful Agyness Deyn, the Belgian disaster and royal academy alum Bruno Pieters, the colorful catastrophe and seizure inducing designs of Henrik Vibskov, and others of course.
Pricey, pricey, pricey. I really do feel that sometimes Seven’s markup is way beyond the normal 2.3% that I see in most stores… Perhaps they just like to buy the more expensive parts of everyones collections? Whatever it is, they sure know how to pick ‘em.
Seven’s interior can also be put as minimalistic and semi-​futuristic. Lots of mirroring, and a dark interior, yet very small. I would feel incredibly claustrophobic working there. The time that I was there, they had about 5 people behind the counter. Why? do you really need that many?
Its a fun place to check out, but I would definitely double check prices with other places before actually making a purchase. That is of course if you can find something that they sell, thats sold elsewhere…

love this store. love all the clothes i cant afford. love the fact that my last purchase could have paid for half a month of rent.
perhaps the fitting rooms are padded so when i go into that little silent room to try on that fantastic dress, i can gasp at the price tag, throw a little fit, jump around, smash myself into the walls wishing that i could magically make money appear in my bank account, and re-​emerge unbruised.
dont get me wrong. i love this store.
p. s. the salespeople here are super nice, none of that flakey pretentious attitude.

Born in the LES, Seven’s Soho address marks its graduation into the realm of OPP (Over Priced Property). Regarded as downtown’s reigning institute of fashion with credentials built upon impressive dexterity in both underground threads (Obesity and Speed, ThreeAsFour) and high fashion (Kim Jones, Bernard Willhelm), Seven, some might argue, has earned the right to overprice. [editor’s note: I might argue there is never the need to overprice but that’s a whole different can of sardines.] Director Joseph Quartana can tell you about each select designer and their respective lines. Much of the staff, in fact, has experience/​education in the craft of fashion design.
Recent renovations give the space a modern and industrial aesthetic: «Spartan Swank», if you will. It looks more like a gallery than a retail store but you are still encouraged to touch and try what you like. If you’re not into what you see, Seven is interesting for educational purposes: What’s What among urban fashion’s Who’s Who. Yes, they are legitimate fashionistas but they honestly don’t take themselves as seriously as all that.
