History

Established in 2004.

Last year, Serenity Spa celebrated a decade in business as a true sanctuary of holistic rejuvenation with an all organic menu including organic spa manicures, organic facials, (featuring «Phyts» Skincare), lymphatic massage and seaweed wraps. Relocated at 49 West 27th Street — Mezzanine East, Serenity Spa has become a favorite escape in the NoMad district for NYC locals, celebrities and world travelers. It’s soft color palette, soundproof windows, white tea fragrance and soft music, take the edge off the New York hustle and bustle.

Business Owner

Maria Hardy Ramirez, Serenity Spa’s Owner & Founder, is a Peruvian born architect, wife and mother of two girls. Maria, who worked as a design consultant for spas, recognized the benefits of spa treatments and has developed her business with those values in mind. Maria’s hands on approach and presence on a daily basis fostered a loyal clientele and friendly atmosphere where even celebrities have feel welcome. On any given day you might find Katie Holmes, Gabriel Byrne or Diane Lane enjoying a spa treatment. Aware of the harmful effects of chemicals on the skin, Serenity Spa moved to an all-​organic product base. Serenity Spa’s dedication and passion for mental and physical wellness within an organic environment became the foundation of the spa’s treatment menu. Recognizing the prestige of The NoMad district in Manhattan, Serenity Spa added «NoMad» to their logo as a marketing strategy.

I had an outstanding experience at Serenity Spa. I work in New York regularly and I stumbled upon it while exploring the Flatiron district. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing. I had a 1 hour massage and a manicure. Both were outstanding. Perhaps one of the best manicures I have ever received. I would highly recommend a visit to this oasis within the city. Wonderful people and a great environment! I will always go there when I am in NY.

Loved the place! It’s really clean and quite with great staff. They’re really welcoming. I got regular mani/​pedi and would say this is one of the nicest places I’ve been to on Manhattan. The lady helped me out picking the color, and detail oriented.
I give this 4 stars just because my manicures ended up being a bit messy and not super clean, but I’d definitely go back and maybe try a different manicurist.

Got a 30 minute massage by Jennifer and honestly have never left happier and pleased. They are definitely reasonably priced too. Will definitely be back here sooner than later to see Jennifer again.

Came here when I was in town for work. There are cheaper places but I wanted decent service and didn’t want to worry about getting a weird nail disease. This place did fit the bill! Great service, took me last minute.

I almost don’t want to give this positive review because I would like to keep this place my own little secret, but my experience was too good not to receive proper credit.
We came here with a group of five girls for a bachelorette. They treated us wonderfully, bringing and refilling drinks for us, taking pictures for us, and just generally being very attentive and kind. The location is a bit hidden, off the street on the second floor of a big building, but once you get inside it feels like heaven — very spacious, high ceilings, peaceful music playing, super clean and stylish. Miles above the vast majority of the salons in NYC (and I’ve been to a lot). Best of all, our nails came out looking terrific.
For those interested in a socially conscious nail salon experience — while I can’t say anything with certainty, my impression from my short time in the salon was that the staff are treated well, and I was happy to pay the slightly higher-​than-​average prices in hopes that they are reflective of the salon being run in a fair manner (although I understand, of course, that higher prices are no guarantee of that).
Tip your nail technicians well, friends, wherever you go!

The staff is not that welcoming, but they are worth every penny. I had the mean Chinese lady who did not talk, but did an amazing job with my manicure and pedicure. They really go in and clean everything. They were a little on the hence side when I paid with a groupon but I would go again just on how they did the manicure and pedicure.

The new salon is spacious and inviting — clean, bright and newly fitted out.
I go here for manis and pedis with Andrea — a gorgeous girl who takes the time to do a beautiful y meticulous and amazing job that really lasts — her foot and leg massages in the spa pedicure are the best
And I see Madalina for waxing– again a beautiful girl who does a fantastic job and actually makes it a pleasant experience!

Wandered in here today and almost left because their manicure is $ 16 and I’m used to paying $ 8 in NYC — but I’m glad I didn’t leave because it was worth it! (They also offer 10% off if you pay cash, so it was only $ 15) I’m used to crowded cheapo nail salons, but this place was beautiful, super clean, smelled great, and had relaxing music playing, and my manicurist did a meticulous job. I even sprung for a 10-​minute chair massage after and it was the BEST decision — and it was only $ 14, though I realized after that I should have done 20 minutes because that’s only $ 20! Even though it was only a 10-​min massage, they took me into a really nice relaxing spa room with a massage chair — it was the best of both worlds since I didn’t have to bother getting undressed for only 10 min, but still got that super relaxing spa massage experience.
I think my massage therapist’s name was Jodie and she was amazing and so cheerful; I wish I remembered my maincurist’s name. I’d definitely go back, especially for the massage. Their pedicure chairs also look amazing, I’ll be getting a pedicure when it’s warmer!

I just had a spa day with a mani/​pedi and facial. Madalena did my oxygen facial and it was quite an experience. She took her time, explaining what she thought was the best treatment for my skin. She really knew her trade well, and didn’t oversell me anything that I didn’t need. I really appreciated her knowledge and treatment. She even gave me some massage with the treatment. The experience was a much needed relaxing one as well as exhilarating. I left with my skin feeling so soft and new.
I have had mani/​pedis at Serenity before and they always last much longer than at any other nail places.
I also love the new place. It’s really lets you escape for the time you are there. I recommend it an drill be back.

I’m a regular customer and have going to Serenity Spa for three years now. I absolutely love it! I tend to be a bit on the pickier side when it comes to nail salons in nyc –it’s always super clean and they take great care of you at Serenity. All of the manicurists are great. I Especially like Maria, Andrea and Patricia. They give the BEST pedicures with a foot scrub! Perfect after a long day in heels :)

I moved to Chelsea about a year and a half ago and fell in love with Andrea at Serenity Spa. She gives the best manicure and pedicure! She always has a smile on her face and always makes sure my nails look amazing. I’ve gone to other people for nails at the spa as well and they are all nail experts. I’d highly recommend Serenity Spa!
