Unilocal is generally BS, but I had to review these folks. So, so great. They’ve performed minor repairs for me on numerous occasions and they’re so darn kind. Five Stars

This is my 1^st review on Unilocal,I felt compelled to create an account because of my experience. Long story short I was up sold and found charges on my bill that I was not familiar with. I was helped by LISA the STORE MANAGER at the Bleeker st location. She’s AGGRESSIVE. But I liked the glasses and I love shopping, so I didn’t catch onto her antics till I left, with the funny feeling like I had just been to a used car dealer! Beware of her and read your bill before being charged. Like a fellow See Eyewear and Unilocal user said, «it just left a funny taste in my mouth»

I had the worst experience here this weekend. The sales rep who helped, Lisa, was quite unkind. Initially, my experience was great– she helped me pick out a pair of glasses that I really enjoyed and was super excited about. However, she tried to up-​sell me on anti-​glare. While I understand this is definitely important, it was an extra $ 100 that I did not have to spend. Upon leaving the store I realized she had added the anti-​glare anyway, even though I asked her not to. When I went back to the store, she was quite rude when I asked if she could please remove the charge, as it was something I had explicitly said no to. She tried to convince me anti-​glare was important by telling me that without this the glasses would be useless and look horrible.
I left with such a bad taste in my mouth that I ended up canceling the entire order.

Stylish, knowledgeable, and friendly. I started going here several years ago and wouldn’t dream of going elsewhere.

This store was amazing, as were the staff. I worked with Lisa who helped me pick two amazing frames! She took her time to listen to what I was looking for and brought me some great options. She was easy to work with and made me feel so comfortable while I was trying on each pair. The frames take about a week to come in and I love that they are handcrafted and in limited quantity. You can’t go wrong at this place!

Excellent service. They fit me right in and did my appointment in under an hour. Also on a Saturday! I’d highly recommend them.

Lisa helped me pick out some really cool glasses. She was patient bc I certainly had no idea what I wanted to buy. More importantly, she was honest and I fabulous in my glasses.

Quality of staff has gone down.
I’ve been a loyal See customer for over two years, own 3 pairs of sun/​glasses from them and have told the tens and tens of people who compliment my glasses about them.
I’m currently looking for a new pair of frames so I pop into See every couple of weeks to look at the new selection, searching for my perfect pair.
Then I encounter Yacov. Total ass. Tells me that what I’m looking for isn’t right for my face, then when I find a pair that I sort of like, pressures me to buy them and threatens that they might be gone. Dude, that’s clearly a risk I’m willing to take.
Please See tell your salespeople to lay of the selling, it’s not becoming, and I’m going to drop my half a thousand in your store without the push anyway. Now I’ll make sure someone else gets that commission when I do decide to buy.

The BEST place for glasses in the world. I have shopped and bought all over the world, Paris, India, East Hampton, and here in NYC, and this is hands down the best store for glasses I have ever been in.
I have two pair from here that are amazing.

Adjusted my husband’s sunglasses quickly on a walk-​in request — were super nice and helpful.

SEE eyewear in the W. Village. You get what you pay for. I paid $ 100 for a pair of frames, and I had to have them adjusted too many times, they keep slipping down my face. They don’t hold an adjustment. In addition after owning them 1 ½ years they fell apart, and I was told it would cost $ 80 to repair them. I asked about buying a new pair of frames and they no longer had that model. I have transitional lenses which cost $ 375 so I’m not thrilled about having to buy another pair of frames and lenses. I asked them to try to glue the frames and they said they didn’t have glue. I went home and pasted them back together on my own. I will never buy another pair of frames from them.

Love, love, love this location! It always makes me happy to support a business from my home state. Even more so when they carry cute, reasonably priced product and the staff is always super friendly, remembers us, etc.
The staff is really helpful in selecting glasses that compliment your face. They want you looking your best when you’re wearing their product.
This location gets fairly busy on the evenings and weekends; however, they are always well staffed and I’ve never had to wait more than 15 minutes to speak to someone or make a purchase.
I would definitely recommend purchasing your eyewear at SEE!

What ever happened to «the customer is always right»?
I went into the store, and was the only customer there. They were playing very loud dance music, which I do not like. I asked politely if they could turn the music off, and the salesman who greeted me at the door said yes. He did turn it down, but he did not turn it off.
I proceeded to look at glasses, and was having difficulty finding something that I liked, so I commented that I would be much happier if they turned the music off. Yes, those were the words I used.
The response from the other salesman in the store was «no, it is company policy to have it on.»
So I left.

I was dragged in here one night when I was passing by with a friend who had been on a passive hunt for new sunglasses.
Their selection is undoubtedly very trendy and modern. A salesman was quickly at our service and spent a fair amount of time with us as she tried on different frames.
There was a couple in their 40s (50s?) sitting in there who I assume to be the managers or owners or something like that. The man seemed to be torturing this younger salesman helping us («oh you didn’t show her the _​_​_​_​frames?»; «you didn’t tell her about the special this week»). It was as if they were giving him a hard time for the sake of it, which was very uncomfortable.
Also, neither parties seemed to be giving my friend sound advice on what looked best on her. Granted, I’m not up on the latest eyewear fashion, but given my friend’s shape and complexion, I couldn’t let her purchase some of the stuff they were having her try. They were too pushy on the sell and we ended up leaving empty handed.

Found this store by chance walking around and fell in love with their unique, funky frames. The frames are definitely pricey but I have now had my frames for about 6 years and not once have I had a problem with them (I’ve only had to tighten them a handful of times, if that). I also love how these frames aren’t pretentious and don’t have any name or insignia on them. The case is also simple and durable, which is appreciated since I have to keep them in my purse (wouldn’t want a case that takes up too much room or is heavy).

An eyeglass store for hipsters and wannabe hipsters, and the closet-​hipsters. You get my point. Funky shaped glasses of all shapes and sizes, you are bound to find something that fits on that special nose bridge and complements your face shape. The store is 95% eyeglasses, and 5% sunglasses. What I love about this is store is the mirrors conveniently located everywhere. The staff are all very chill and helpful.

Everyone here is friendly. I was looking for something with a great quality and cool /​different!!! I got my funky frames 7 months ago, with the groupon they were affordable! I get compliments for them everywhere!

After more than two years of wearing the same frames, my dog decided they looked delicious, leaving me glassesless.
SEE Eyewear on Bleecker has a superb collection of frames to choose from, an extremely helpful sales staff, and an excellent eye doctor to perform exams. They happily accept several types of insurance, and with help from that, I was out the door with an exam, frames, lenses, for just over $ 300. Not bad for what are beyond doubt an extremely high-​quality pair of glasses.
I did go to Warby Parker to check out their selection, but was honestly not impressed. They may run circles around SEE as far as prices go, but they don’t hold a candle to them on quality. All told, I spent about $ 100 extra going to SEE instead of Warby, and I sleep soundly knowing the extra money was worth it.
My only complaints: SEE’s eye doctor is only in on certain days, and their glasses are manufactured in Michigan, leading to a week-​or-​more wait time to receive your eyewear after you’ve ordered them. Not big complaints. I’d definitely recommend SEE to friends!

I always go in here thinking I won’t buy glasses… I wear contacts almost every day. But I can’t help myself. And their better customer service people are SOOOOOO good at finding me frames. It’s nuts. I might as well just walk in and hand them my credit card. I’ve had issues in the past with the fit of my frames, but you bring them in and they fix you right up. No worries.

I foolishly went to to one of those big box retailers where i looked at the big guy glasses (Prada, D+G) and saw style but no soul. I suddenly remembered where to go… See.
I’d been to See Eyewear in LA. I loved their funky functional frames and their great attitude. The thing is you can end up looking like a cartoon character with some glasses that have funky style, but See’s glasses don’t make me (or anyone I know) look like someone that daffy duck should be arguing with.
The service in the NYC store is perfect. Just enough fashion and fun, without being stuck up, rude or just dismissive. I walked in and within 2 minutes had tried on the perfect pair, thanks to their suggestion. Of course I tried on another 20 pairs just to be sure… but those first glasses were perfect from the moment i tried em on.
Turnaround was about 2 weeks and cost was pretty good.
In any case, love them, love the specs…

Went to SEE. Glasses gave me double vision. So I asked them to re-​do them, but they forgot to fit them on my face before. They of course still didn’t fit right. So I had to go back for the third time. Went the third time, and Patrick and the manager were very helpful. I was able to swap the first pair for a better fitting frame, got a re-​check on the prescription, and even got a discount on a second pair. In the end, SEE was great! THANKS SEE!

I got a pair of glasses here over a year ago and still couldn’t be happier with them. SEE was awesome and the ordering process was seamless — I actually tried on and ordered my glasses in Boston, but asked for the order to be filled in New York. The glasses were ready on time and they fit perfectly!
My complaint is that SEE doesnt have a ton of selection for smaller/​narrow faces — they seem to focus on the whole «over-​sized» look in general and I really had to dig to find a pair that looked proportionate on me. Also, considering their very reasonable prices on prescription glasses, the price for sunglasses seems high — $ 99 for a non-​prescription pair. For that price, I’d rather just pay a little extra and get a pair of Ray-​Bans — which is exactly what I did.

I came in here to look around for some new sunglasses. I know it’s Winter, but it’s always good to plan ahead. SEE has designs that you can only find here. They actually designed it themselves. Sunglasses are $ 99 and they are actually good quality sunglasses. For that price, I was kinda leaning to gets some Ray Bans, but I was told to come back again to see the new stock.
The staff was really helpful and the layout and look of the store is really pleasing to the eye. I will definitely come back and check out the new styles.

whoa. The world is now in HD again which is absolutely amazing. I just got my glasses from SEE and love them. They have a ton of cool frames to choose from and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. We went around trying a ton of different glasses and found the right ones for me.
I want to write more, but excuse me while I go check out my brand new world around me…

I cant tell you how many times ive been complimented on my new glasses. I even got a free snack (the ones you have to pay for. obviously) on American Airlines because the stewardess liked them so much and it sparked a conversation about glasses. True Story.

I love my glasses! You can see them in my photos, and I think they’re fabulous. The store is based in Michigan, my home state. I have to support my home team, and SEE makes it easy. They have great service, great selection, and amazing groupon deals. I got a great deal here two months ago — $ 187 for my sweet tortoise shell frames, anti-​reflective single vision lenses —
I took my friend there to find the perfect specks, his first pair. He stopped by SEE before I got there, then went to another place. I met him at the other place and dragged him and his insurance card right back to SEE. The first pair he tried on were perfect. He tried on at least 15 pairs, which helped him make the decision that the first pair were indeed the pair he liked best. The sales lady was sporting some funky glasses and red lipstick on her teeth, but she was happy and helpful. She even compared our groupon vs his insurance to find the best price. Best glasses shopping experience, felt more personal than a Cohens or Lenscrafters.
I would have given 5 stars, but when I ordered glasses they didn’t come when promised.

Update: The did replace the the second broken pair.
This place has cool glasses, and eager sales people. They are friendly and seemingly helpful… that is as long as you are purchasing. I should know, i have bought 5 pairs there and referred countless people to them. For style and selection i have always sang their praises.
With that said, they are not so good on the clinical side of eyewear. Yes, there are 2 sides. One does like to look great in glasses, more importantly, at least to me, I want to see well from looking out of them! And know that if I, a loyal customer, have a problem with my glasses (especially at $ 500+/pair) they are there to help me. After all the whole purpose of glasses is really to SEE not to be seen.
Dont get me wrong, I do like to look good in my eyewear.
3 out of the 5 pair I have purchased there did fine. It is the other 2 I have issue with.
Most recently, the temple fell off of my most recent purchase, still just under warranty period. I love the glasses, so I took them by to have them repaired. Surprise… the sales girl said they were broken. Well, I am no genius but they were in 2 pieces.
She did put the piece back on, but in no way repaired them. They are crooked and the spring is broken, and they slide off my face. She agreed that they were not repaired properly, as she is not a technician, only a salesperson. She told me that they do not repair their glasses and that even under warranty, since this pair was discontinued, all she could do was replace them with a new design at ½ off. (not clear exactly what ½ off means since there are several charges in creating a pair of glasses for me)
OK, move to pair number 2 that I have had problems with. First they put both a tint and transitions lenses in them and said they would be fine for any use. They ended up way too dark and the progressive portion was totally off. They did swap out the lenses but did not get the placement of the power correct, so when I wear them, (if I want to see out of them) they sit way too low and the power is not centered with my eyes. I went back 3 times to have them corrected and they have never been right and they will not fix them. Problem is, I love the frames. So I deal with wearing them too low and moving my head around to see somewhat properly through them. Is that fashionable? lol
I only returned to buy another pair because they offered $ 100 off. And I do like the frames there. Lets face it, while $ 100 does help, when the frames are $ 300, +200.+100, +??, not so much of a discount especially when the tech part is hit or miss. My time going back, and back again for futile adjustments is worth something.
While I do like the store, and the salespeople, this place is not serious when it comes to vision.
Fashion may be important but if I cant SEE whatt the point of having a great pair of glasses.
Maybe its best to purchase at See and go elsewhere for the medical portion.

Ok so I finally received my glasses after waiting 2 weeks for them. I was tempted to write a review (a poor one) based on having to wait longer than the 7 – 10 day period I was told. I am not patient, especially when it comes to glasses, that to me are a huge investment and critical staple in my wardrobe as well as life functionality.
First of all, How come I never knew about this place years ago??? I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on glasses, and these are by far my MOST FAVORITE of all! I usually can only find a few pairs in your typical optical store that I like, with SEE there were so many to choose from it was insanse.
The sales associate that helped me was Adam, and he was very friendly and helpful and not in pushy way. I was able to try things on and do my own thing without him being on my rump.
I had a GROUPON that I purchased on ebay for $ 51 (it was for $ 50 for $ 200 worth of eyeglasses) I chose regular prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses, for right under $ 400 with my groupon. AMAZING!!! without the groupon it would have been more like $ 550 which is still pretty good when two pairs like these would cost that for just one pair.
I LOVE MY GLASSES!!!
