Samsung Galaxy Studio SoHo

Ok place to hang out and to check-​out the latest from Samsung. But, I still prefer to hang out and check-​out at the Apple Store (couple of blocks away from this store) instead.
I heard they used to give out a lot of freebies, but they no longer do that… I guess business is not that great (if you read the news about Samsung)

I cannot say enough good things about the Soho studio and two of their employees, Myles and James, who have consistently been my Super Heroes!
The entire staff is always pleasant, from their greeters to their service staff to the design station. I have no idea why anyone would give them less than a 5 star review.
This is my 3^rd time here. First go round I was having issues with my S5 after I updated to Lollipop. Myles and James worked hard and fixed ALL of the phone issues. (over heated, poor battery etc) I had ZERO problems after they fixed my phone.
I am back because I dropped my S5 and the LED is dead as a doornail. I screamed nooooo (in slow motion voice) as I watched the screen slowly bleed away. Apparently I have the unlucky phone as this has happened 3 times now. Instead of changing (paying AGAIN) for a new LED I am here with a new 6 Edge. Both of my Super Heroes were here today to help transfer all of my data to my new phone. Once again, I cannot say enough good things about the Dynamic Duo and the Samsung Studio!

So this is my first time at the Samsung studio. I came here with my sister on a Saturday afternoon 12/​28, I absolutely love this store, the staffs here are so nice and courteous especially James G. My sister was having issues with her newly purchased S6 and James had patiently assist with all the questions my she’s having and even help me redeem the Samsung promotion for my Note5 which I totally didn’t expected. That was another plus from me. I am very please with the service we are getting here. Staffs here are very knowledgeable and we did not wait long for assistance. Best customer service ever!

Is this place serious? They purposely waited until my warranty ran out. Never called me back when parts came in.
This place is a JOKE. I love Samsung phones but if you run into problems with no support then what’s the use?
Sorry to say Apple takes the win if you run into any problems. This place will set you up to lose.

Came there to get a Samsung note 3 screen repaired they were unable to provide a ticket number for the day off so I was told to come back the next day only to find out that they refused to fix my phone because it was refurbished. Perhaps this was something that they were suppose to tell me prior. Wasted 2 hours in the store on day 1. Wasted more time coming back the next day. Honestly, the worst customer service in a Cell phone store. Go to another Samsung location for better service

Disclaimer: Since this store apparently does things other than repairs, please note that this review is *strictly* regarding their Repairs *only*. It is also based on *MY* experience.
The detailed explanation for my rating is going to run long so I’m going with the short version first:
–Came to this store for a repair of phone still under warranty
–Employee handling my issue was unknowledgeable (that or knowingly lied to me)/appeared disinterested
–Left phone at store for service. They never called back. I called them to check up on repair to hear them tell me the phone was repaired and to pick it up.
–When I got home, phone randomly rebooted. Looked like nothing was done when I dropped it off.
–Called 1−800-Samsung that same night to have it sent out to Texas Service Center for repair
–Received phone today serviced and repaired. A total of 3 parts were replaced.
So basically this store either didn’t know what they were doing or they blatantly lied to me.
I’m not saying to avoid this store for repairs. It’s the only official Samsung store in NYC so our options are sadly limited. But be on your toes should they try to pull an okey doke (scam) on you.

And now, brace yourselves… for the epic long version:
I was directed to this location by Samsung phone support and was told this was the only Samsung corporate store in New York City that can service warranty repairs on-​site.
–October 6, 2015–
When I was there, I was directed and introduced to a gentleman named James Hampton who I was told will be helping me with the issue I was having with my Galaxy Note 4. I told him the symptoms I was experiencing with my phone: phone started acting erratically within the last 1 – 1.5 months; random power reboots, occasional freezing at random times. I can never make it act up on command. When it happens, then it’s clearly obvious there’s something wrong but at other times, it’s fine.
After opening the back cover, and inspecting the battery, he inspected the phone’s micro-​USB port with a tool that was essentially a magnifying glass with a flashlight in one handheld tool… think otoscope– that medical tool doctors use to inspect your ears; something like that.
With a quick check, he was quick to tell me that my phone had been liquid damaged. I told him that I couldn’t see how that’s possible because I have never had the phone near liquid, never got it wet, and especially never spilled anything on it, and that my phone is with my person at all times. He told me it could have been rain. He went on to show me that the USB port was discolored and that meant corrosion, which in turn meant liquid damage. For whatever reason, he was very resistant to any other possibility other than liquid damage, which eventually struck a nerve with me due to how stubborn he was and yet acted very relaxed and disinterested in helping me. «Listen, I’m just telling you what I see», he told me. It’s well worth nothing that I had NO issues with charging the phone or data transfer, both of which utilize the same USB port.
He brought up the fact that he could have someone downstairs (I assume repair technicians?) take a look at it, but only to drive the point that if he does do that, the tech is just going to return my phone and tell me the same thing: liquid damage. I told him, to go ahead and have them take a look at it. What have I got to lose anyway?
They had me wait well past closing to the point that I think they forgot why I was still there. Eventually a lady came up to me to ask me what I was waiting for. lol. Shortly after, a tech went to see me and told me they reflashed my phone. When they attempted to show me my phone was done being worked on, it rebooted right in front of them. Oops. They told me I would need to leave the phone overnight, which I agreed to.
–October 8, 2015–
2 days later, I never received a phone call or a voice mail message, I followed up on the repair by calling them for status. To my surprise, they told me my phone was ready for me and to come pick it up. I got there after work to pick it up. At the store, the phone appeared ok, but like I mentioned before, the issue would occur at random moments. It could occur within minutes. It could occur 5 hours from now.
When I was home testing it, it rebooted on me again. Fed up at that point, I called 1−800-SAMSUNG and opened a service ticket with them to get it sent out for repair.
–October 20, 2015–
I received the phone back from Samsung’s service center in Texas. The phone came back repaired, and was noted that 3 parts were placed to repair the phone. They even replaced the USB port that James from the store had such an issue with. Clearly the service center found no liquid damage or they would not have serviced my phone for free under warranty.
Samsung SoHo store was no help at all.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS SALES! (See photo) When I asked him for assistance, he gave me a very dirty and rude stare for a minute. He told me ‘let me see what I could do’. He made me wait for a few minutes and redirected me to another associate. Why is this guy even hired?

I used the loan program here twice and both times I was highly satisfied. There are a variety of products that are available for loan for free including phones and smart watches. You get to try the product for 21 days (+5 day grace period if anything happens that prevents you from returning it on time). The first product that I rented was the S5 back in February. The process to rent the phone went smoothly and only took about 10 – 15 minutes. They charge your credit card with a deposit, but it is refunded once you return the phone. You also get to choose your service provider. I chose Verizon. You get unlimited talk and text and a data plan that is sizable (I never reached the limit). Also included roaming in North America. It was good that a lot was included so you can properly test the phone to determine if you want it or not. Anything that is not included you would not be able to do on the phone. The return process was also smooth and took less than 5 min. They do a factory reset on the phone when you return it to erase any info you might have stored on the phone. The second time I rented the S6 edge in August. The process was just as smooth.
The store also hosts many free events like viewing parties and game nights with giveaways that look fun, but haven’t been to one yet. They also have a design bar where currently you can choose a design to be put on a t-​shirt, bag or luggage tag to take home for free. In the summer they gave out free popbars. I got a t-​shirt last week and it was an American Apparel sublimation shirt. The print looked like it was of good quality. Two of the prints said «New York» and «SoHo», so the t-​shirt is a good souvenir for tourists.

Walked in with a brand new Samsung note 5 so far so good. Explained that the stylus broke inside the phone. The rep said you have to buy a new one. The phone is less than 30 days old. He then went to get a supervisor who explained they don’t have any in the store. NYC 2015 Samsung flagship phone how ya doin. I asked if I could just buy one then, they didn’t have any for sale. Not so much the stores fault as it is samsungs customer service. Blah

Samsung! What a great international brand! But! The after sales service is unbelievable terrible! I cant imagine How worst the service I got in here. If you don’t know How to attend the customer who is having the problem on their device, please copy from other brand like Apple. Not body can help when u get here and there will ask u call the toll free and find out the way by your self. So that means Samsung company in Korea can shut down this branch and jut ask their customer call the toll free number and No need to spend this kind of money to hiring this kind of people to provide this kind of service!

The store supposedly opens at noon daily but no one picks up the phone when I called between 12 and 12.15p on a Sunday. You would expect higher level of professionalism from a place like Samsung.

i don’t think i have ever been treated so rudely in my entire life. my phone is not even 6 months old and its already malfunctioning to the point where it is basically unusable, so after a ridiculously long phone call with samsung i was instructed to go to the soho location and they would fix my phone. I walked in and was completely ignored as if i was not even there, it took at least 15 minuets before i got someones attention. After explaining the situation to a man behind the counter i was told samsung had no replacement plan and he could basically do nothing and he walked away. i stayed in the store for another hour desperately trying to get anyone to help me, each person ruder and more disrespectful then the next. long story short i have no phone now. Don’t even waste your time with Samsung, getting the galaxy is one of the worst mistakes i have made.

So I came here because my 3 month old samsung was acting up. Seriously chat on their website was terrible so when they told me this was the only location I wasn’t thrilled. The hours are terrible. Hours I work.
I finally went today. I was dreading it because of the reviews. Took a while to get taken care of. I blame rude customers. First of all samsung you need to change your layout. Everyone who walked in while I sat, bothered the ones trying to trouble shoot for waiting customers. Hey we all want someone to help us would it kill people to wait?
More staff is needed to trouble shoot and a separate area where they can focus on whose in front of them. To many rude customers in the me me age.

First I called
about my issue with my Note. The representative created a ticket for me to record my conversation. She provided me a number for the Soho location to see if they can repair my phone. I called ahead but they will need to test out my phone. After work tonight, I rushed down to Soho since the store closes at 8pm.
I was directed to sit at the customer service and wait for someone available. The first guy named James had taken my info down and brought my Note to be repaired. He didn’t even bother to inform me the estimated time.
As I sat and stared around the store because I was bored until James H. started a conversation with me. He also upgraded the software of my other Black Note. Time when by and they realized the people downstairs had a miscommunication regarding my phone and it almost closing time so I kinda freaked out but maintain to stay calm. The repair team were able to fix my port so now I can finally charge my phone.
Remember only credit cards!

A really weird store.
Lots of staff standing around listless. It’s very hit or miss with the staff — you have a few that are actually friendly (the greeter), a few trying really hard to be friendly but you can tell are not nice people or don’t like interacting with the public, one that was just plain unfriendly and seemed like she didn’t give a damn who noticed (tall barista), and truly helpful and genuine people persons (the guys at the customer service desk who helped service my phone and answer questions).
I stumbled into the store having heard about it on a blog. The greeter was nice and gave me the rundown of the place. Free coffee and a snack, area to print an image on a t-​shirt for free, a kids play area in the back, another area in the back where you can take a selfie? and a customer service desk.
There were 2 baristas and one (a tall girl) was complaining on and on about another worker right in front of me (using expletives, being melodramatic, etc.) for the entire time I was there. Really unprofessional. She also just wasn’t particularly friendly or nice and seemed like she dreaded her job.
The other barista was a lot more chipper and nice in answering my questions (although it was hard for me to get a word in when the other barista was distracting her with her complaints) and just all around more pleasing. Samsung, you need to do something about the customer experience here.
There’s a station where you can try out their virtual reality goggles, which was pretty cool. You can also sit in the back and be on their wifi for a little bit and no one will say anything, but it’s not the same welcoming, community feel like the apple store down the block.
I was able to get my new samsung phone serviced with an update but wasn’t able to buy the phone cover (something I needed) but I guess if I come back next week I will since they transition over to a real retail store next wednesday. That means no more free baked goods/​coffee and printing station, so get over there soon if you haven’t already!

If you find yourself bitching about free swag, it may be time for you to reconsider your outlook on life. This is like every hoarder’s dream come true: free food & drinks, Samsung souvenirs, and you get to play with all the devices you want, for as long as you want! Isn’t that something.
I’ve been here twice and both experiences have been positive. I’m a Samsung addict so naturally, going here was a no-​brainer. If you’re seriously considering buying a Samsung device, don’t go to Best Buy or Target – you’re just going to be testing out a dummy with a piece of paper. They use some of the latest and greatest technologies of our time here – 3D printers, and some of the design stuff is amazing. Best of all, you get points for checking their stuff out, which you can redeem to get some awesome stuff. I’ve gotten t-​shirts, sound speakers, water jugs, etc.
I admit, some of the prizes you redeem may not be in the best quality and might deteriorate after very little use, but I’m not complaining because some other company is probably going to make me do a lot of annoying things just to get one of these prizes. The staff is nice and very knowledgeable, especially the ladies working the café.

On August 14, 2014 this is the last day I want to step foot here.
As I walk in I got mean evil stares. The same short Latino man (security worker) keeps following me like I am a threat. He should be fired. Also most of the staff gives me bad negative vibe. Before when I first came here. I felt a welcoming vibe. But that is just deception. Most of the staff got a fake smile and attitude. So here is my finale grade for this place.
Customer service for me is a 0.
Most Staff is very mean and the sercurity is mean and have a threatening look.
Most of the manager are somewhat nice. So I give the management is 2 star.
I gave them lots of chances to show how nice they are. And I left out of there not with a bitter taste but a rotten taste.
And here is why I really left the studio. And I did gave them another chance thanks to Kyle the best manager and Felice. Also can’t forever Loria. They are the only ones that gave me a welcoming vibe. The rest of the staff and all the sercurity are down right mean.

Last time I came here I was welcomed, everthing was very nice. Had lots of things to do. I REALLY felt like family. But today was different. I was kicked out for a stupid reason (sleeping.)
And I had need threaten to get the cops to be called.
The manager demetria I met one time and I thought she was a nice manager and I talk positives thing about this place. I REALLY wanted to come back. I mean really. But that is never going to happen. The same manager who I talked kindly to have been very UNConsiderate and very mean. She gave me a final unwelcome kick out. And I myself EX Samsung studio customer don’t want to come back. And I am glad I did not come back.
Ps Demetria. No need to call the cops I am not coming back here. You been mean and I thought of you as considerate but I been deadly wrong.

I am a Galaxy owner so I have stopped in here several times. All of the staff are very helpful and freindly.
The customer assitance desk people are very knowledgable and helpful.
The have a daily station where you can print a picture of your choice on a different daily item. Anything from a tshirt, cup, travel pack, bag, etc etc
The only downside is you cant purchase things here. They do however do free battery swaps so that is a plus.

on a cold rainiy winter day wandering around SoHo we stumbled upon this place and decided to check it out while rain was pouring outside. After an hour we left amazed by the Samsung experience. Me and my husband are both Samsung-​lovers so it was great to try all their products without anyone hurrying you to buy them but actually giving you the info you need without pressuring you: the newest mobile phones, the Gear, tablets, camera, etc. but also fun to play around with them: we made our custom t-​shirts with a cool Peter Max design — ready in seconds, got our pictures taken with funny hats, played and got nice prizes like headphone splitters and speakers, asked lots of questions about our devices and others we were interested in — even got Illy coffee and cupcakes!
I just wish there was a place like this in Milan!

My friend and I decided to come here because we heard of the fun thing the studio have to offer. We were greeted once we walked in and since it was our first time, the lady at the front desk helped us understand what to do.
The place is really fun and relaxing. You have the café in the middle, where you’re offer free food and drinks of your choice. To the left of the café is the print shop where you can design your own tshirt or tote bag for free! Today’s design was drawing on a Kidrobot toy. You can do a lot with the design, like cutting out pictures from the Internet and pasting it onto your design. To the left of the print shop is the 3D printing station, which we made our medallion. To the right of the print shop is a kid area, didn’t go in there but look really great for kids. And next to it is a photo station where you can take selfies and what not. Behind the café is a station where you go and get some free prizes. We got a free tshirt, a mini speaker, and a split headphone plug.
Remember to ask the workers to check you in for each of those stations! Definitely want to come back to see what they new things they have to offer.
