I am fairly new in the area and came into the salon for a haircut and ended up getting color and and haircut by Eve because I felt very confident after the consultation. I was very pleased with results, she is very articulate and talented and I LOVED my cut and color! Definitely going back to her from now on!

Whatever you do, come to this salon. Freisi is the best hair stylist I’ve ever had in my entire life. I never do reviews on Unilocal,but I just had to let the world know :)
If she can handle my 4A hair texture, she can handle anything :)

By far the best salon I’ve ever gone to. I went to get a haircut and relaxer since I have really thick hair and the keratin treatment doesn’t work well for me. The stylist knew what he was doing and took his time to make sure there was no strand of hair he didn’t fix (I had way too many split ends) the owner was amazing. He kept offering me water, coffee and more and kept asking me if everything was ok through out the process.
I am definitely coming back in a month to get my hair colored.

I never write reviews. EVER. But I had such an awful experience that this merits a review. I come in for a simple blowout scheduled through Vive. I requested for a beachy, loose, natural blowout. I even showed my hairdresser, Tracy, several pictures. She said she would try her best. First time around she blew out my hair and it looked like a 50’s mom hair style. No where near what I had showed her in the picture. I told her it wasn’t what I wanted and she said I wasn’t clear on what I had told her. If the picture or my description wasn’t clear enough then you should have spoken up and ask to see more styles. She said she was only allowed to do straight blow outs. I felt like I had an incompetent hair stylist who was just lazy at her job. At the end I asked her to just blow it out straight and flip the ends. Instead she completely ignores my request, continues to lecture me about her styling limitations, and flips the ends in. On top of that, Tracy was not gentle with the blow dryer or the brush as she was just man handling it with no consideration of her customer. The manager or the person who runs the front desk asked how my experience was and told her I hated everything about it but she showed no sympathy for the lack of customer service I received. I ended up tipping my stylist $ 5 for the decent hair wash but I wish I just didn’t tip her at all. I ended up coming back to my apartment and redid my hair which I just should have done in the first place. This salon is a joke.

You walk in and are treated like royalty. The hair wash (and massage!) is amazing, and not rushed. Everyone is so helpful and wants you to have a great experience.
Chairs are comfortable, and (though this may sound funny) the bathroom is SO clean and pretty.
Coffee, tea or bottled water is offered upon arrival which is amazing in this heat!
Owners are truly THERE for their clients and appreciate all of them.

I got three great blow outs here over the last two months — 2 from Clarissa who is fabulous. The problem is the mumbling, standing on the sidewalk-​smoking-​cigarettes a$$hole manager. I had a 1:30 appt — I walked over through crowds of tourists in blazing sun and 91 degree heat for my blow out — drippin in sweat — 8.5 minutes late and he gave my appt away to a walk in. Mind you, they have my number — that’s how they book the appt. Did they call me — no? Have I ever been late or missed appt there? NO. He then directs me to a salon around the corner that is closed. I have an event I have to leave the city for at 3 pm — so NO blow out. I went there with my hair freshly washed and wet to skip the shampoo — so technically, I wasn’t even late. Will I be going back? NO. I only went there in the first place because Vince Smith is closed on Mondays — I will be only going to Vince Smith on South End Avenue from now on.

This is the place that I was looking for my hair cut, I am so happy with their work !! It was recommended from my friend and it’s worth visiting. Place is also nice and decent. Specially the stylist «Viktoria» she did a good job. Fully 5stars from me. Must visit.

Love this salon located in the Financial District. They’ve done a wonderful job with my long and wavy hair. I’ve visited twice and was never disappointed. Elena does a good job with hair coloring and blowouts. Highly recommended. Thank you!

Spent a long time looking for a reasonably priced place that I could rely on for consistently good hair cuts. I always have my hair cut by Elena and have never been disappointed.

What a pleasant surprise!!! Came here for a blowout because it was close to my office. Elena gave me one of the best blowouts I have ever had! And it was only $ 35! Will definitely be a regular here! Highly recommended

I went here a few times for blow dries and saw 2 different girls. Both were great, one of them I cant remember their name but the other ones name is Brianna.
Although I loved the way they did my hair, it was just too expensive. I understand I have thicker mixed hair, but to jack up the price another $ 35 is crazy. I cant blame the girls, the owner obviously was creating the price.
I know it Manhattan, but I’m sticking to my new spot ($ 40 BD).

I really like this place! Was looking for something close by and not expensive and then I came across their 35 $ blow dry sign outside. I’ve done my hair twice here, by fresci and viktoria and I’ve been so happy with it! They really listen to you which is so important and they kept asking if I liked it and if it was too much or too little. I never like how anyone blows my hair but love how they do so I’ll be blowing it more often!

I was looking for a good and affordable (($ 75 blow dry? No thank you!) place in the area, and decided to give this one a try. Called for a last-​minute Saturday blow-​out. The stylist that I got, Elena, is amazing. I’m definitely going back! Her blow dry lasted 3 days! Typically my hair falls flat after 4 – 5 hrs, but not after she did her magic. I’ll be making another appointment after I post this review :))

I moved to the city a couple months ago from Jersey and was looking for a weekly blow-​out spot. I stumbled upon Salon de Louie and was luckily set up with Elena. I have come back every week since. Her work is better than any blow-​out bar I have ever been too, and I must say the wash is the favorite part of my week. She takes her time and does a fantastic job.
I have had my fair share of blow out blunders, as I have long thick curly hair. I always pray the stylist has experience with manes like mine, as it can be a challenge. Elena was able to give me Pantene Pro V commercial hair, full of bounce and just the right amount of volume. Without fail my blow out lasts all week, and still holds the bottom bounce like the first day.
She’s amazing! If you’re need of a blow for any occasion, go see Elena. You can sit worry free that your hair is in great hands.

I love going to this salon. Jose is my favorite. I have been going to him for a while now and I think he is AMAZING! I don’t trust many people with my hair but I can definitely trust him. He also does exactly what you tell him you want. The staff is also very friendly. Great fun atmosphere. I always end up feeling confident and loving my new look.

Based on the reviews, tried to get an appointment with Jose but was told he makes his own appointments and that he wasn’t working on that day and that I should leave my number. I took a chance and went anyway and saw another stylist. She gave the worst hair wash and the worst blowout.

They don’t take their time. Horrible color horrible blow out. Will never be back. Let me start off by saying that all the good reviews are basically for one of their hair dressers names Jose. I just walked in and had an older last color my hair. She didn’t listen to what I was telling her about making my color even and adding more toner so that my brown hair wouldn’t have a lot of a red tint. The lady just grabbed the color book and asked me what color I wanted. She had no idea what I was talking about. I could have went to cvs and did it myself but for $ 120 dollar cut you want a professional colorist who at least knows how to do one color. Anyways on to the coloring process. She did such a sloppy job, when she washed my hair I still had color all over my neck, forehead and ears. Wtf! This is a salon. I kept telling her to clean the color off everything.
The blowout: she blew my hair out by basically taking the blow dryer and running it through my hair on the comb. I don’t know how best to explain this except by saying that the blow dryer needs to be a few inches from your hair otherwise the hair gets damaged.
A few days later. My hair as I said I didn’t want has a red tint. I feel terrible when thinng I spent almost $ 200 for color and blow out that I could have done a better job at home with. The blowout was disgusting.
Please do yourself a favor and go somehwere else. I don’t know how this place has a business in manhattan with all the competition.

I have been going to Jose for a couple of years and he is a fabulous stylist with very reasonable prices. Love coming here.
