When I went in a few months ago which was a week before they opened the new store, everyone was friendly and helpful. However, I went into the new store today for the first time and no one seem interested in helping me. It seems like maybe the new big store gave them a new big head. And I wouldn’t bother going to the one in soho either, because they’re even worse.

Outstanding service, and dangerously close to my office. :O If I could afford it, nearly my entire wardrobe would be Saint Laruent. NO contest.
COOPER is a great Sales Associate. The guy can rock a face tattoo in style, and that’s something. Also if you’re spending a small fortune on a handbag, that purchase should be accompanied with a glass of champage. Obviously that’s what you can expect at SL.
The new space is magnificent with loads of reflective surfaces to highlight the beauty and simplicity of the collection. It’s simple modern luxury at it’s best.

Excellent representation of what a classic Saint Laurent store should be. Currently it’s under renovation «my own guess is that THE man, THE genius Hedi Slimane wants to transform the classical black marble/​carpet/​gold splashes into another airy/​opulent/​white marble/​open space like the Rodeo Drive one». Extremely accessible location, huge selection for both mens and womens, very professional staff, very friendly and attentive without crossing the fine line that could so easily be crossed to becoming pushy or neglecting or too familiar. My salute goes to one of the MOST helpful SA I’ve ever dealt with in any like store around the world literally. I feel bad I didn’t remember her name, I guess most probably she was French, she was petite white with blonde shoulder length hair maybe in her 40’s with a European accent, in my last visit to the temp. store last days ago I didn’t see her. Anyway, I wanted to get the little cardholder/​wallet with zipper and I got that while I was always thinking of the gorgeous edgy black biker denim ever since it came to the market BUT what had kept me from going for it all the time is that it’s totally not my style esp. for the price tag of it it doesn’t seem like a smart deal to myself. She sensed my hesitation and admiration «it’s a beautiful hippy cool youthful piece but I’m not a R&R nor a biker and I don’t even dance at all!» so she graciously, simply and with all sound logic recommended I try it on complementing my physique and how she’s quite sure I’d rock it and she’d love to see it on me. I got excited because I wanted to see it on me too but didn’t think even of that option! It fit perfectly and looked just as I imagined it but I wasn’t looking good in it for some reason and wasn’t motivated yet, and here her sheer brilliance came into play. She brought my attention that the style of the shirt I’m wearing and the loafers don’t belong to the look and she’ll bring me the suitable ones that their similars «not necessarily them exactly» would compliment the look, and she did and I totally rocked it so effortlessly «I was at that moment SO surprised and taken for real of how almost perfect I looked for real no bragging about anything» all thanks to her awesomeness, creativity, sound sense of fashion and passion toward what she’s doing, and of equal importance true dedication to the customer. I instantly decided I’m taking it too for sure, and until this moment I’m so glad I did though I since the purchase I wore it literally only one time until now but it’s not going anywhere;) and don’t tell anyone, but I from time to time wear it at home and just feel awesome, I’ll conquer the idea of «it’s not my style» one day though and nauseate everybody with wearing it all za time:)! Thank you awesome lady, you’re a genius indeed! Next SL possible endeavor: sac de jour, maybe:)!

SHODDY WORTHLESS EXPENSIVE CRAP with the most pretentious and lackadaisical customer service. I’m still in shock from this whole experience! I picked out a bag that I loved for a graduation gift. We buy it, and a week later, the bag starts to fall apart in two places. I take it back in, thinking they would fix it up right there or give me a new one, and I’m sent away for six weeks! Mind you, I bought this bag to have for the summer season. So half the summer is over, I’ve owned it for almost two months, and I’ve only gotten to wear it for ten days. So I finally get it back, I have it for two weeks this time, and it starts to fall apart again in the same spot as well as two other places. I paid over $ 2,500 for this not so amazing bag, and by this point I’m pretty upset. I was told by the manager Cristina that they would replace the parts or the entire bag within the week. A week comes and goes, and no one cares. She tried to avoid me and push me off on some condescending assistant named Justin. Finally, I just demand a new bag, but to my horror, Cristina doesn’t have anymore and doesn’t bother to try and find one. She offers me some other random crap in the store which was SOOOO insulting, granted my experience up to that point. I almost cried. She later offered a refund to obviously just get rid of me and shut me up. I don’t know if their clientele is used to third-​rate quality at a luxury price, but I refuse. I’ve received better customer service and quality from random secret basement booths in Chinatown! This was a huge waste of money and time, not to mention the let-​down of the century for me. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I was in this store yesterday and the sales assistant was wonderful!!! She was wonderful and I wanted to let her know how nice it was to be treated nicely. She greeted me warmly offered me water and just let me feel like a person who can despite not being able to afford these bags I felt important. It means a lot especially when customer service is lacking in some stores. Soon when I get those pay checks where I can splurge I definitely will go back and buy a handbag!!!

I would highly recommend shopping at the Saint Laurent Flagship Boutique. You will find the best selection of merchandise for men and women in the city and the sales associates are hospitable and gracious to their customers. Feng Feng Yeh is one of the store supervisors and is knowledgeable about both the men’s and women’s collections.
Note: The boutique is currently in a temporary location adjacent to Bergdorf Goodman on West 57^th Street while the store is being remodeled in the global design scheme created by Hedi Slimane. Most temp stores that are used for swing space look like paired down versions of the actual store; however, you will be impressed by the amount of marble, chrome, and mirrored surfaces that have been used in the temporary space. It is a veritable temple of sleek minimalism in retail.
If you are a fan of Saint Laurent Paris, this store is a must visit!

All the other instances I would go here, my experience was great. Whether I felt like trying on garments or purchasing, I would be greeted with gracious help.
The last time I was here to make a purchase, I had to deal with sales associate who had an attitude and made my experience quite exhausting. I would highly recommend the Soho store instead, the unpretentious service and the more open-​air/​efficient store layout is graciously appreciated.

I love this store. Every person from the doorman to sales associates is just so nice. I never feel that I am pushed to buy anything here, the sales associates are always patient and helpful even though I may end up not buying anything. They still treat me as a valued customer and take their time to finish the job with me before helping someone else. What I really love is that the sales associate want to help me to find the stuff I like and want to make me totally satisfied instead of the big ego to sell. As a result, I always appreciate it, and end up spending a lot of money in this store, but I am very happy and satisfied.

The products are obviously awesome but the Asian female shop assistance has the worst attitude ever. I think she is Chinese. She was so rude when I was in the shop and I heard her talking bad of other customers who just left, she said some thing like” they were looking for bags for so long and they didn’t buy anything at the end, it’s so freaking annoying.” It’s not the exact thing she said but it’s something similar. I think she should be fired for sure. I don’t want to see that face again when I go to ysl next time.

I had excellent service here today. I came looking for sunglasses, which I know is basically no commission for whoever helps me, and Naven was incredibly helpful and cool and spent a good deal of time waiting on me.
I will be back in Fall for some of those dreamy ankle boots!

I like this store a lot. I like everything they (hedi slimane) make. The reason for 1 stars would be cause their return policy is the worst. I recently purchased a very expensive item from here and changed my mind. I was told that I cannot get cash refund and sure I thought that was reasonable, no complains but things turned really sour for me when they refused to hand me the gift card they issued me for the item returned (keeping MY gift card in the store) stating that I will have to use the gift card in that particular store which seemed very SHADY to me, I felt cheated. The whole process felt very wrong. Please be absolutely sure if you want something from this store before purchasing it.

The best Yves Saint Laurent store I have ever been to! They have a personal door man, guests are greeted by every single staff member, and best of all they also have men’s products. I have been to many other locations and this is the only store I saw with men’s products. Highly recommend.

My experience with the service here was amazing. The assistant helping me was amazingly helpful in a non-​pushy way. She was very knowledgable about the products and had some great suggestions for me as well. Very patient and attended to me throughout the store. Quality of merchandise and availability is top notch! Thanks to her I was able to feel even better about my first big YSL purchase.

This is strictly for the men’s selection.
I’m sorry, but what I used to love about Dior has now made its way to Saint Laurent with Hedi and I am going to have to switch allegiance. I feel bad but I think I’ll get over it soon.
I used to walk in here pre-​Hedi and turn right back around and leave — it was just not my thing. Now even the store associates finally acknowledge that the menswear is much better and they are finally making money in the category. And they have even gone so far as to expand the floor space for menswear.
Ask for Donald — he will set you straight and help rescue you from your dorkiness.
On a side note, I have never seen any of the attitude that some have talked about for this place — and it’s not like I dress up to go shopping, quite the opposite in fact…
I have been to the Soho location as well and I think I prefer this one as the selection here seems more practical/​wearable.

to make a long story short, i’d say i YSL gave me better service than MANY of the other 5^th ave stores we walked into that day, has fantastic products and was a great experience. I am going to expand the YSL collection of my closet at frightening speeds.
HOWEVER, if you have the money to spend on these truly beautiful but unnecessary items, then please head to YSL. However, the price aint no joke– we’re talkin’ rent money. So if it came down to fashion versus living… i think we all know the answer here… i hope.
The overall experience was exactly as it should be: great products, beautiful display, excellent/​not-​pretentious service. With this combination, of course all stars are delivered. This is the way shopping should be: a pleasure.
My sales person, Pablo was absolutely awesome. Hes your typical HOT (not gay this time… uh… i think) Argentinian sales dude: HOT, charming, ready to serve and of course, ready/​excited to sell. He was more than willing to cater to my tastes without negative judgement and even endorsed my feelings– no exotic animals please (poor cutie crocodile and sting ray… theyre my friends as im a diver; rays are friends, not purses!). However, I’m sure that the next customer who intends to buy the whole ocean’s worth of ray-​purses would also receive top notch service, support, endorsement and all with a smile. He was super patient while the BF had to call his credit card company to confirm the purchase. We were given still water and seats in a waiting area while Pablo patiently stood nearby awaiting the ‘ok’ to re-​swipe.
The products are gorgeous. Everything is made with such care! I dont agree with all the fashion looks– skyscraper high heels adorned with frizzy long-​haired puff balls? not my deal– but of the items that I did dig, they were gorgeous. Everything hand made in france/​italy definitely sounds like a plan to me. No ‘Made in China’ please.

The more I am using my purse the more I am loving it. Not only did I love the purse the moment I saw it, I am loving it more and more with every use. The lining, stitching and little lock is beautiful, endearing and so strong!
The store, although located slightly off the avenue, is your typical 5^th Ave flagship: beautiful, eye-​catching and sexy.
Pablo and I are going to be great friends. I can tell.

[Note: This review applies to YSL when Stefano Pilati was in charge – and whose tenure, I should add, seemed unfairly cut off. I haven’t visited since Slimane took over, though given my past praise I hope things stay more or less the same as far as the quality and service goes.]
One up-​front quibble — the store has experienced some wear-​and-​tear, and might benefit from a bit of updating, but honestly, I couldn’t care less. Perhaps it’ll get a face-​lift now that Slimane has taken over.
First: the staff is great. Every time I go, even if I don’t buy something, the staff is helpful and genuinely nice (contrast w/​Dior Homme a few doors down). One time in particular, I went to buy a pair of boots I’d been lusting after, at sale time. I pulled a little too hard on the pull-​on tab and it came undone while I was trying the boots on. In a heartbeat the salesperson offered to repair the boots and then ship them to me for free because of the «inconvenience.» Nowhere else — whether Gucci, Burberry, Dior or Balenciaga — will you find salespeople who act like that.
And then there’s the actual clothes, which are phenomenal. I went to about four or five different stores, trying on Burberry Prorsum, Lindeberg, even Dior, before finding the perfect black cotton blazer at YSL, which fit and draped on me like a dream (disclaimer: this was when Dior’s jackets were boxy and ugly, which has since changed). [2012 Note: Several years later that jacket is still my go-​to.]
It’s pricey yes, but the fit is great, the materials are beautiful, and the sales are incredible if you time it right. I once went in and got three different pairs of pants for 60% off apiece. While they were still expensive, their quality spoke for itself and the style (two patterned, one striped) was pure YSL magic. [2012 Note: again, several years on, they hold up wonderfully and I still get compliments on them all the time.]
Expect designer prices but also expect some of the most interesting fashion around. Hopefully with Slimane taking over it’s not all skinny-​boy rocker stuff all the time. I loved Pilati’s different silhouettes.

The service here is the best. The sales associate who helped me was friendly and willing to answer questions but let me shop on my own without trailing me constantly. And the merchandise? Well it goes without saying…
