History

Established in 1995.

On June 12, 1995, Sacred Chow opened up in a small spot on Hudson street, and sold a rotating series of plant proteins by the pound, along with pre-made juices, soups, stews, and a full bakery attached (all to go). There came a point where it was time to expand Chow’s space, at which point, Sacred Chow made a move to its current location on Sullivan Street, between West 3rd Street and Bleecker. Now, customers may sit at Chow’s table, share a meal, a glass of wine, or a dessert (or take the food or baked goods home to enjoy), all under one roof.

Meet the Manager

Cliff P.

Manager

Back in 1995, I decided to fill a niche that wasn’t being filled at the time: interesting, unusual, delicious vegan food that’s healthy. Since then, it’s been an ongoing journey to try to find ingredients and techniques that both explore the new, and revisit the textures and tastes that I enjoyed as an omnivore. We all like the same things, and I’m working towards fulfilling those needs, while keeping things healthy, and easy to eat.
