Sachiko Hair and Make-Up

Sachiko did my hair and makeup for our ceremony at the New York City Clerk’s office. She was recommended to me by a friend who wasn’t able to book her for her own wedding. It was really fortunate we were going to the City Clerk’s office on a Thursday and she was available with less than a month notice.
Let me just say, Sachiko is AMAZING! I can’t believe I was going to do attempt my own hair and makeup. As I had planned everything in the last minute, I never did a trial. On first go, Sachiko made my hair work perfectly with my flower crown and she had my makeup just right. (Sachiko did get me to send a few photos of myself and examples of hair and makeup I’d like).
Sachiko is not only super talented at what she does (I don’t know how she can be so detailed and gentle and just get everything right) and super professional (she arrived at 6am on the dot and finished exactly when our photographer arrived), she is also the sweetest person! She’s so bubbly and genuine. The whole experience was a lot of fun.
I would recommend Sachiko to anyone. Even if you are just doing a simple ceremony at the city hall, it’s worth it! It’s your special day and Sachiko makes it that bit more special!

She is absolutely amazing! I had found Sachiko through another friend’s recommendation and had booked her without ever meeting her because my friend had raved about her so much. As soon as I met her during the trial, I knew she would do an amazing job! The trial was 3 hours and she had tried so many different hair styles and makeup looks. She was so bubbly and positive and helpful ESP since I didn’t really know what I wanted! She helped make the timeline for the day of based on our photographer and everything. On the day of, she was on time and made everyone look beautiful! Everyone’s makeup stayed on the entire night and looked amazing! She even gave both moms looks they were both happy with! Everyone got eyelashes and airbrush and it didn’t cost extra! She also touched up my now husband and both dads with some foundation! :) She includes a few hours extra for touch ups which was awesome during our photoshoot! I love Sachiko! You’d be lucky to have her for your wedding or any other event!!!

Sachiko was hands down my favorite vendor of the night. I did a lot of research when it came to hair and makeup for my wedding day and I kept seeing amazing reviews for Sachiko. I booked her right away since I read that she got booked quickly. She was very responsive to my emails, even when she was all the way in Japan! She is so bubbly and sweet, which really calmed my nerves on the wedding day. I choose the 10 services/​10 hour package. I didn’t realize that she was going to stay with me for the entire 10 hours even after everyone was finished with their hair and make up! She stayed and touched up my hair and make up throughout the day. She even powdered my husband’s face, taught my bridesmaids how to to remove my veil, and gave me the a tube of MAC lipgloss for me to touch up throughout the night. She went above and beyond her role, carrying the train of my dress, holding my bouquet, teaching me how to hold my bouquet in pictures, and adjusting my veil right before I walked down the aisle. She was my lifesaver on my wedding day. HIghly recommended!

My knowledge of makeup and hair is extremely limited, especially for weddings, so I turned to other friends who all raved about Sachiko and told me to book her ASAP. I honestly did not even shop around for other artists due to a crazy work schedule and also a bit of laziness. I am super glad I did. She books very quickly as I had to book her over a year in advance!
She is absolutely amazing and the sweetest person you’ll meet. She is so lovable and so generous and kind. After my apartment building caught on fire, she reached out and even offered her place to stay temporarily! She is considerably thoughtful and truly is focused on your own happiness, especially on the big day. She is definitely affordable compared to other artists, and like the other girls who have written reviews, I used her 10 services for $ 1000 deal.
Her work is definitely the best and she really did make me feel like a princess.
From the hair and make up trial to all my personal incidents leading up to the big day, Sachiko was incredible and I would recommend her to all brides in NYC! You definitely won’t regret it.

I’ll say this up front: I don’t understand makeup. I don’t wear it regularly and when I do wear it, I can only manage to put foundation on with some chapstick and call it a day. Sachiko totally understood this and made me feel absolutely at ease with every step while also making me look beautiful. She is such a warm person and you can definitely tell she’s committed to her work and her clients.
Example of this, my mother in law had gotten lost at the venue while delivering our chuppah and got back to the hotel really stressed out, late, and still not dressed. Sachiko offered to drive all the bridesmaids to the venue herself so that my mother in law could take her time getting ready and no one would be late.
I booked her for 12 services for $ 1000 which is an absolute STEAL at the level of work she does. This also includes false eyelashes and airbrushing, which was extra at a couple other places I looked at. Also gave me an extra tube of lip gloss and told me emphatically to «REAPPLY! After you eat, after you kiss, REAPPLY!!»
Highly recommend her, she’s an absolute gem.

Sachiko was hands down the best vendor I hired for the big day, and that’s saying a lot since I loved everyone we worked with. Everything Sachiko does is above and beyond what you’d expect, and she was the most affordable option I found to boot. She’s as good as it gets, period.
First off, I went to her little studio in Astoria for my trial a few months before the big day. I instantly felt comfortable with her since she’s so warm, welcoming, and I think she gave me a hug right away? She’s adorable. I wasn’t sure what I wanted at that stage, but she did about 5 different hairstyles and 3 different makeup looks within a couple of hours. She really took her time with every look, and I think she charged $ 100 for the whole thing. I’d had a trial a few days before who charged $ 250 for one hairstyle and makeup look, so I thought that was more than fair. Sachiko even went so far as to fix my hair before I left so it was comfortable walking around with it. It’s so clear she loves what she does.
I decided to book her right away and was eager to get the contract squared away right after the trial, but Sachiko was the least pushy person on the planet and made sure I wore the makeup/​hair all day to see how it held. Cool move.
I booked her for myself, the bridal party, and the moms, and she charged $ 1000 for 12 services. So reasonable! Everyone else I spoke to quoted me about twice that. All the ladies looked stunning and was really happy with her service, and I couldn’t have been happier with my look. Sachiko did everything in the hotel room (I live abroad) and then came to the venue with us to make sure I was picture perfect before the ceremony.

Sachiko is amazing, book her if you can. She did me, my matron of honor, and mother for my wedding. Early sunday morning start, incredibly cheerful and professional and reasonable prices for the amazing work she does. would recommend her to anyone, she came highly recommended to me.

There aren’t enough stars in the world to give Sachiko. She is a rock star and truly an artist! She did hair & makeup for four of us (bride, mom of bride, mom of groom, sister) at lightning speed and made everyone look beautiful. All of us heard nonstop compliments all night because she did such an amazing job! It was so sad when we had to wash off the makeup at the end of the night, it was a work of art. Sachiko is so brilliant at her work that she could be the meanest person in the world and STILL worth every penny — but on top of everything else, she is charming, sweet, and kind. She is a wonderful conversationalist and put everyone at ease while they were in her chair. My mother-​in-​law was a little late to her appointment, but Sachiko was so gracious about it and made everything work within the time constraints.
Also, «ABOVE AND BEYOND» is probably the best way to describe her professionalism. My wedding dress had a train issue and Sachiko stayed late to sew a new bustle! I couldn’t believe it. She had already stayed past the agreed-​upon time but insisted on staying even later to do the bustle, even though it was in no way her job description, because she wanted me to look «perfect». She even gave me a lipstick for touch-​ups before she left. I can’t say enough about her. We felt so lucky to be working with her!

I went for a trial makeup and hair session a year prior to my wedding. She did such an amazing job and was the sweetest person ever. I booked her shortly after. Sachiko went above and beyond the day of my wedding. She did an amazing job with my hair and make up and my mother’s makeup and my 7 bridesmaids. While we took outdoor photos, she touched up everyone, including my husband and some of our family members (who were not included in the package). Simple gestures like fixing my dress train and patting the sweat off of everyone’s face for photos were a huge plus. Sachiko has a true talent for making sure everyone is picture perfect. She is the sweetest person to work with. I was so sad when she had to leave us at the end of the day. Highly recommend her! Thank you, Sachiko! We love you!

Sachiko was amazing to work with on my wedding day. I first met her during a makeup trial before my wedding and instantly loved her. She is warm, funny, and simply a wonderfully talented artist. On the day of the wedding, she didn’t rush any of us and really stayed till everyone was ready and looking their best. I really loved the look she created on me and would HIGHLY recommend her. Sachiko is amazing! Without a doubt I would choose her as my makeup artist again and again. She is truly an amazing, kind hearted person. She only wants do make you happy on the day of your wedding. Sachiko did an amazing job on hair and makeup for me, my sister and my mother on my wedding day. She really listens to what you want and makes you look your best both in person and in photos. On top of that she has a great personality– she is so sweet, kind, fun and genuinely loves what she does. I could not be happier with my decision to book her. :)
She uses airbrush makeup which makes your skin look flawless and individual lashes that look natural but full. I slept in my hair and makeup and it still looked great the day.
I had trials with two other artists that I wasn’t completely happy with before I found her… It is hard to find one person who is a master at both hair and makeup. If you are asian and engaged, definitely book her now because she is in demand.

Sachiko is the best, hands down. She is not only a master of her craft, but a genuine good and happy soul, who loves what she does, and imparts joy, calm, and good vibes on what can be a very stressful wedding day. When asked how she can stay upbeat and deal with brides week after week, she replies, «Easy, it’s not work. This is my fun.» And you believe her.
She did the hair and makeup for me and 4 bridesmaids on my wedding day. She arrived promptly at the appointed time, and stayed on schedule, turning us all into beautiful, glammed up versions of ourselves, yet managing to keep the looks fresh and natural. With several of us having been previous victims of additions to either false eyelashes or eyelash extensions, we were all amazed at how natural and comfortable her individually applied lashes were.
If you are booking her for your wedding day, and you have at least a few bridesmaids/​female family members you’d like to pamper, I highly recommend getting her 10 hour package. It comes with 10 services at a BARGAIN of $ 100/​service compared to what some other comparable level stylists charge, and you get to have her accompany you for 10 hours. That means you can have unlimited touch-​ups throughout the day, or even change your hairstyle for the reception if you wish. Airbrush makeup and false eyelashes are included with this package, which can be extra with many stylists.
Her hairstyles and makeup looked awesome throughout dancing and a hot July day (thankfully not that hot). She never hesitated to add a little powder or gloss if I needed it right before my photog was going to take some posed shots — think this is from her extensive experience styling models and actors for fashion shoots and movies. She even applied a little powder on my fiancé/​now husband to control his oily complexion, and also gave my mother-​in-​law a quick makeover (she was just going to have a friend do her makeup), all at no extra charge, and without being requested.
Sachiko was fantastic on all counts. She was especially gracious when the check I had wrote her for her services was somehow missing on the day of the wedding, and trusted me to pay her when I returned from my honeymoon. All of my wedding party commented on how wonderful she was; my only sadness is that I’ll unlikely ever be able to have her do my hair and makeup again, as she only does weddings and other professional shoots. She books up quickly for weddings, so grab her quick! You won’t regret it!

Sachiko did hair and makeup for me, my mom and my mother-​in-​law, as well as makeup for my 4 bridesmaids. She has every quality I envisioned finding in my ideal makeup artist. I will be recommending her to every friend getting married in the NYC area from now on.
She was attentive, professional and thoughtful from start to finish. I have extremely sensitive skin that causes me to break out in angry red welt-​like hives when I wear many types of makeups. I was ready to put a paper bag over my head and call it a day when I met Sachiko. The other makeup artists I contacted with questions about what to do with my sensitive skin assured me it wouldn’t be a problem and that airbrush makeup would be fine, which wasn’t true. Sachiko was the only one who responded immediately and said «I can’t give you an answer, you have to meet with a dermatologist. They can run tests to figure out what you’re allergic to.» That’s when I knew I could trust her to look out for my best interests.
Throughout our initial meeting, she helped me figure out the makeup I needed to buy and at our trial, she was super careful to avoid cross contaminating her makeup with mine. On the day of, she brought a special ziploc bag of brushes and applicators just for me to avoid cross contamination from the applicators she used on my wedding party. During the wedding day, she was always just out of sight, ready to help with touch ups. Sachiko even rushed to help my 97-​year-​old great aunt up and down the venue steps. My wedding day was super hectic and I kept misplacing and losing things, but Sachiko was calm and organized enough for the both of us. My mom is the type that never wears makeup, dresses up, or even wears her wedding ring, but she loved how Sachiko made her look. Sachiko is a consummate professional and a warm and thoughtful person. And she is the only person I would trust to deal with my sensitive skin. Everything I described in my review is in addition to her 20+ years as a makeup artist and her great taste and style. She got everyone in and out of the chair quickly without sacrificing quality.

Sachiko did my hair for a wedding. I was one of the many bridesmaids she was working on that day. I had no clue what I wanted at first because I wasn’t sure if I wanted an up-​do or something down. I went with my hair down. She was very quick with my hair and gentle. My hair is naturally really curly and frizzy. She put some cream in my hair and it was like magic, the frizz was gone! Sachiko was very friendly and kept me entertained the whole time. She is very gentle when styling your hair and almost made me fall asleep lol I would definitely recommend her! She has a great personality and does wonders! :)

I would recommend Sachiko to all my friends and family! She did such an amazing job on my makeup and hair. I had all kinds of compliments with my hairdos. She managed to change my hairstyles twice in a short period of time. They were very complicated hairdos! I was aiming for the natural and elegant look for my wedding, she was able to achieved all my requirements!

Sachiko is absolutely amazing and the sweetest person, too. I hired her for my wedding day on 3÷20÷13 for a small Brooklyn Bridge wedding. I did a trial with her for the hair and make up (allow for about 3 hours for the trial), and also went with Package deal for myself and also to treat my mom and mother in law on my wedding day. She made everyone feel comfortable and made everyone look beautiful. She took notes from the trial and this made my hair and make up much easier. I also asked for very natural make up and she did an awesome job, as I absolutely loved my hair and make up. I should also note that my mom has not had her make up done professionally since her own wedding day and she raved about Sachiko for weeks! I also could not get over how great my mom looked, and I was very happy with all the services Sachiko provided. To add to it all, Sachiko is one of the warmest, kindhearted, friendliest people that I have met. I am usually a shy person, and her warm, welcoming nature was very much appreciated.

I wholeheartedly recommend Sachiko. She can do a very natural look (like I wanted) or a more glamorous type of look (smokey eye, etc., that we did for fun at my trial). I recently got my hair done by Sachiko for my good friend’s wedding (I was a bridesmaid) and can I just say, she is awesome? 5 stars hands down. I wish I was getting married in NYC so she could be my hairdresser.
The best thing about her is that she makes you feel really comfortable and at ease when she’s working on you. She has a very calm and friendly demeanor and she keeps her professionalism at all times. I think she must have shown up at 8 AM or even earlier, and worked on hair and makeup all day for the entire wedding party and family. She was focused the whole time, and kept everyone engaged by getting to know them, talking about her experiences and family, etc.
Another thing I noticed is that she really keeps an eye on the bride and truly does her best to make the bride’s big day as perfect as possible. Whether she did this with touch ups or just by talking to the bride and checking in here and there, she really brought a sense of calm to the room, whether we were at the hotel or the final wedding venue. And most importantly, she has a great eye for what looks good and she’s simply talented. =)

Sachiko Yanase was the best person to work with on my wedding day. It’s a good thing because she spent a lot of time making me look and feel beautiful on a most frantic/​stressful day when I wanted to be a million places at once– orchestrating the table settings, directing my bridal party to tie up countless loose ends, and to pose for my first photo shoot with a photographer (modeling is hard!!!).
Even though it was the first time I ever met her, she was so warm and thoughtful like a longtime friend. We chatted as she consulted me on 2 possible looks, one of which she gently guided to with her professional opinion. She gave my bridesmaids tips on how to help me do touch ups and to pull out my long veil so my hair would stay intact. And boy did my makeup and hair stay intact– people complimented me on the graceful look, which I totally lack in real life. She used individual eyelashes and a spray foundation– which are very «extra» services with other vendors. I am so relieved to see on some preliminary point-​and-​shoot digital camera images that my neck and face were of the same color (hard to achieve during an evening wedding).
Sachiko is such an amazing lady who showed up EARLY and left only when she made sure everything looked great. Some vendors made me feel bad about aesthetic choices vs. budget so I was so relieved to have someone so positive, kind, and professional.
