The checkin was fast & the staff were awesome. Got an upgrade to a corner room, has a lot more space. We love a double bed instead of those massive king size. Loved the soap & shampoos etc. housecleaning do an awesome job. I actually have nothing bad at all to say about our stay here. Definitely 5 stars for this place. (EDIT– might be a bit on the expensive side but well worth it for location right near Times Square)

This hotel is in a great location for going to Broadway shows, but that’s about it. The customer service people aren’t attentive, the check in line is forever long. They aren’t very good at helping. They gave us our room keys and we went out when we came back our cards didn’t work even though they were kept separate from credit cards and our phones as instructed. Then we had to wait in the check in line for 15 mins to get the cards reprogrammed. Very annoying. Also the elevators SUCK! They must think the elevator system works well, but it’s awful. You press your floor number and then it tells you what letter elevator to take. The elevators only go to certain floors and can only use the elevator it tells you. The elevator area is also a mob scene! Too many people and the elevator are super tiny! I wouldn’t stay here again, but if it’s a good price for you and you’re ok with crappy customer service then go ahead.

Nicely remodeled building, but tight rooms, resonably clean. You get the feeling they’re stacking guests like a slave ship for the 4-​star loot! Everything else, no problems. Perfect location for staying over, before or after a Broadway show. The adjoining City Kitchen downstairs is a bright, clean spot for a light meal. Not sure if I like the hotel elevator system: you press for your floor before you get on. Then it tells you which elevator to go to. No floor-​buttons in the car. It does reduce chaos, but seems oddly different.

Location, price, and service is very good. I really liked the bar (also had breakfast there), and the fact that it was attached to City Kitchen, which has good casual eatery/​to go food (amazing ramen!). All the people I interacted with were very friendly, and the beds were comfortable. However, the shower had black and pink mold in it (I took a photo) and the toilet was wedged up between the wall and the sink and it was very awkward and uncomfortable to use. Also, the AC unit wasn’t working properly even after we received instructions on how to correct what they thought the problem might be, so the room was at 77 degrees even it was set as low as the thermostat would go. That’s way too hot for sleeping in a tiny room! If we hd stayed another night I definitely would have needed to pursue both of those problems. Other than that, I thought Row NYC was a very good deal.

Customer service leaves much to be desired. I never received my email confirmation so I called the hotel. Contacting CS for existing reservations was a nightmare. They would let the phone ring and when they picked up — they hung up. I called reservations for assistance as I needed the email confirmation & the woman was rude and was insisting I was calling to cancel. I literally had to say «STOP, please let me talk so I can tell you why I am calling».
The front desk at check in was a little better.
BOTTOM LINE:
The hotel was nice, clean and reasonable. If customer service is your thing — book elsewhere.

Let me start by saying that I am a person who really has high standards when it comes to hotels and accommodations.
ROW hotel is by far the worst hotel in which I’ve stayed in.
The rooms are very small and dirty! The hotel staff even charged my card an extra $ 250 for no reason at all and when I went to straighten it out, they took almost an hour to figure out why and basically told me it was up to my bank to get it back the same day. Luckily my bank understood my frustration and worked it out for me.
The most interesting thing about this was there was another customer next to me complaining about a random charge as well!
While the manager was nice, she had no clue as to what was happening and where my money went! One of the other little ladies at the front desk was so nasty and so rude, I was so taken aback.
All in All, I love NYC and I should’ve stuck with my go to hotel EVENTI as they are immaculate.
STAY AWAY!

I booked a non-​refundable room at The Row that has since been canceled and I was charged a $ 214 cancelation fee. However, I did not cancel this reservation.
I have been trying to call the Row all day and have not received a response. I also emailed them. This is extremely frustrating and demonstrates very poor customer service. I have stayed at The Row very frequently in the past for work trips but will not be staying here again if this poor service persists.

My wife and I stayed here during a vacation week consisting of a few days in Philly and the remaining days in NYC — what a cool little hotel! Its position in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Manhattan is extremely convenient with regards to hitting all the typical touristy spots, being only several blocks from many of them — Central Park, Rockefeller Plaza, Times Square, just to name a few. Inside, the hotel has a modern, if not trendy, feel and appeal to it. The wall behind the Concierge desk exhibits a funky electronic display whose pattern changes frequently, and there’s a table of iMacs set up to allow users half an hour or so of complimentary browsing. On the other side of the main floor is District M, an open (i.e., *not enclosed*, vs. *free for drinkers*) bar where, what seems like every evening, some of the nightlife of the city made their way to listen to a house band do their thing. Also on that end of the main floor is City Kitchen, a neat little food court-​like setup consisting of about 7 – 9 different food vendors offering everything from Mexican cuisine to sushi to doughnuts, and providing a variety of food options to both hotel residents and patrons off the street.
Compared to the price we typically pay for hotels while on vacation, Row NYC pretty much broke the ceiling to be honest; but considering its location in the heart of New York City and proximity to just about everything we wanted to see and do while there, the cost was expected and I think worth the value. Our room for the 4 nights we were there was cozy and cute, just big enough to provide us with everything we’d need. (There was just the two of us so there wasn’t much need for a tremendous amount of living space. And keeping in mind conversations we had during the trip with a few city residents concerning limited real estate in NYC, the size of the room made perfect sense.) The room was as quiet as you’d expect being in the middle of a city where the honk of car horns is as natural and frequent as bird chirps are in the country. I pretty much can sleep through anything so it was a non-​issue for me; the wife picked up some silicone ear plugs to accommodate her light-​sleeping tendencies, so if you share that attribute, that might be a purchase to consider. (Cool thing is, there’s a ²⁴⁄₇ Duane Reade on just about every block — store similar to Walgreens — so it won’t be tough to find ear plugs if you find you need them later.) Overall the room was clean, modern, and even allowed for the windows to be opened slightly to allow some of that cool NYC busy sound to fill it up while making plans for our next ventures.
To conclude, Row NYC was a great hotel choice for us for the trip. The only problem we ran into was the fact that our room wasn’t ready when we first arrived, and we had to wait an extra hour until it was. But seriously, being in NYC, it’s all about perspective — it’s one of the busiest places in the world with regards to tourist traffic, so considering there’s a gabillion people in the city at one time, and a tenth of those probably trying to stay at the same hotel as you, an hour is a small inconvenience in the grand scheme of it all. Aside from that, however, *all* of the hotel staff we interacted with were pleasant, accommodating, professional, and extremely helpful when we had questions. Our experience was wonderful and, even though NYC isn’t a place we visit very often, if we decide to do so anytime in the near future, Row NYC will definitely be the first hotel we seek out while planning our stay. I’m not sure about larger traveling families, but for cozy couples this may be the place for you.

Location, location, location.
This hotel is a block away from Time Square which make Row NYC a perfect pick when I booked this place. Check-​in was a breeze, and I didn’t have any issues with any of the staffs for the 3 nights that I stayed there. They have computers set up in the lobby with printer access which was definitely helpful with printing tickets and boarding passes. The amenities are great and you won’t find me complaining about any of that. As for the price, it was comparable and obviously it varies depending on which site you booked it from. When I did my search, the price was one of the lowest ones for the 3 days that I stayed there. They do have free wifi which is pretty much a standard nowadays. Each floor has NYC street pictures printed onto the walls and with the hallways dimly-​lit added to their hip, trendy ambiance. The elevators constantly played EDM/​chart toppers which really made it fun riding them. With that said, the elevators are quite unique. You have to type in your floor number and then it tells you which elevator to take. I didn’t have any issues with them, except when I had to check out. The elevators aren’t huge, and it couldn’t take more that 3 – 4 individuals along with their luggages. I ended up waiting for 20 – 30 minutes waiting for an elevator to go down with my luggage.
I did knock of 2 stars because the bathroom was tiny compared to what I was expecting compared to some of the past reviews. The toilet was forced in between a wall and the tub which made it a tight fit. I guess, it was pretty impressive how they were able to fit all that in such a small space!
Also, the window basically looked into another room. Which means, I had to keep it closed the whole time, which made its existence pointless. As for noise, I didn’t hear any which is always great.
All in all, I would actually give this place a a solid 3 stars, and maybe an additional half, but definitely not anything more than that.

Paid about $ 400 per night. This was the cheapest hotel my family could find online closest to time square, so it’s convenience in Midtown and close to the subway is its best attribute.
For a supposedly trendy and modern place, our room was run down and kind of dirty. There were stains all over the walls, on the bed headboards, the Windows, and bathroom door. I couldn’t tell you what these stains were… But people were definitely partying in here (over a period of time) and the cleanup service did not do a good job recovering this mess.
There was scotch tape on the ceiling. The toilet paper holder did not exist. The lamp on the desk was broken, the vent in the bathroom was broken and the «hallway» light was broken. When checking in, the front desk discounted the Internet fee since their wifi was not working, and to add to this, the remote for the TV had dead batteries.
In addition, on our last day of stay, we forgot to place a card on the door, so the cleaning service knocked on our door. She asked us when we were leaving. We told her 12. We were told at front desk, as well as on our receipt that check out was at noon. An hour later, when she saw my sister coming into the room after getting water, she stopped her and asked again, «what time are you leaving?». My sister stated, 12pm. The cleaning then told us to look at the door and tell her what the door says check out time is. The door had an old label with 11am as check out. We then called front desk and they confirmed checkout was at NOON!
I do not appreciate being pushed out of a hotel. From the first impression to the last… This hotel was not a good experience.
If this hotel was not prepaid, I would have chosen a different hotel.

Worst hotel I’ve ever been to. We came with our colleagues to help them check in, and we waited there for over an hour. An HOUR. While the employees just kept standing around talking to each other. Then there was a hidden $ 27 room holding fee, that’s not refundable. In addition to the $ 27 fee, they put a $ 100 deposit, in addition to what they pay for the room. The hallways smelled strange and almost like celery, and it was a very unpleasant experience for all of us. Especially too when we got up to the front desk and the woman said hello and then made us just stand there for 5 minutes. We also found it strange that you had to ask to rent a smoke detector. Uh, breaking codes much? Very dirty looking, and the walls all need new paint. I know it’s around the corner from Times Square, but spend more money and go elsewhere.

I read a lot of reviews about this place before I actually booked it. One thing I liked was it was near times square, but then most of the reviews said the rooms are tiny, and bad bathrooms, like having cockroaches in them… eeeeeeeek… Then the recent reviews were a lot more pleasant… So I went with my gut feeling and booked it and also cause expedia gave me a 10% discount voucher, which meant I couldn’t use it for majority of the «nicer» ones, so left me no choice!
Arrived Saturday evening, about 8ish, upon entering, there are no signposts as to where you are meant to check in! The queue was ridiculous! To top it off, there was like loud rave music playing, so loud that I went deaf for a while! Waited 45 minutes for a 5 minute check in processs! So annoying, the staff are rude, unpleasant, unhelpful and just damn right stuck up moody!!! If they don’t like their jobs that much, get lost then!!!
Room was on 15^th floor, i booked a double deluxe, and yeh was soooooo tiny, tiny tiny tiny, seriously, you have to be a skinny model to fit into these rooms! The bed was meant to be a double, looked like a single tbh! The bathroom itself is another story, no space, cramped! Lucky there were no insects in the room! They promised a nice view, bascially got a shit one with the back of shops and well dirt!
They charge a fee to use «their facilities» like the water fliter, even if you don’t use it, you still have to pay for it! Wi-​fi is free, but they charge that too, and other stuff like room service, not being funny, but who orders room service, when there are rows and rows of places to eat! So you $ 87 for stuff you aint using! And its mandatory apparently, which is just so absurd! Kicked up a fuss, but their staff members are just stupid, just like the hotel!!! We speak the same language, just my accent is a lot more stronger than theirs, so when they pretend not to understand, just makes them look stupid!
Wouldn’t go back, nor would I recommend it, I’d rather pay extra and stay at the W, or across the street where they have the InterContinental!
This would definitely suit students on a budget!!!

Currently staying here, and very disappointed. We would’ve left for another hotel but it was already prepaid with no cancellation/​refunds. I’m giving at least 2 stars because the common areas (food, lobby, amenities) gives a couple points. Save your money and book elsewhere unless you’re desperate. If you’re gonna read only some. Please read the cons of my review to save yourself. I would hate for other people to be duped like how I felt when I arrived. I hope management reads this so they can improve for future guests.
I have NO IDEA how this is classified as a 4 star hotel. It lacks basic standards.
CONS:
–our room had various drippings of mystery liquid/​old food/​vomit/​poop smear??? Over multiple walls in our room. I’m talking like eye level sitting at the desk. Or along the bathroom walls. So gross. Photos included!
I even pondered for a bit because I didn’t want to be a «that guest» when I could easily wipe it myself and I felt bad for calling housekeeping to wipe it at 9pm. But I had to let them know that’s just not ok. The desk staff wasn’t very apologetic or even felt bad. She had the attitude of ‘so what do you want me to do’. They were sold out so we couldn’t switch rooms.
— for such a trendy modern hotel the rooms are very run down. The bathroom door just needs a wipe and paint job and it would make such a difference. The door handle wouldn’t lock if even barely holding into the handle hole at all. The towel racks were falling out of the wall. Just simple and cheap touch-​ups, they should use some of their money from the lobby to the rooms.
— they don’t even have a duvet/​cover for the blanket filler?! It’s literally a sheet of cotton filling sandwiched between two flat sheets. I had to tie the corners in hopes we wouldn’t accidentally touch the inside in our sleep. Because you know that doesn’t get washed between guests…
–no mini bar. Fridges are available for an extra fee. Fine. No coffee maker.
–thin walls. We could hear the couple down the hall clearly having some heart pumping sex. Not my biggest complaint, whatever. It’s vacation. But if you have kids, beware.
–majority of the staff seems to hate working there. Only one of the front desk (Marcelo) was friendly. Having previously worked in the service industry, you should know what you’re getting into and if I’m a nice customer– holy moly you need to adjust your attitude, you don’t have to be a jerk to me. Like what buzzkills.
–also we paid for a superior room. But honestly I have no idea what we paid extra for between a standard room.
Pros:
–Close to time square /​theater district, shops and subways. But you can get a cleaner, nicer staff, and better overall stay lower midtown for probably even cheaper.
–they have a food court, computer lounge, live music/​cocktail lounge. And a cycle studio– but I’d rather have a regular gym.

I will be very honest… my girlfriends and I booked this via Groupon because it was a great deal and I was worried how the hotel would be. Wellllllll, let’s just say we were very happy… of course I had some cons but a lot more postives… so let’s start with the positives:
— Junior checked us in and he was awesome. So so helpful. So friendly… answered all our questions and gave us a great room. We stayed in 325 and let me tell you… it was not your typical nyc room. Our view was 8^th ave… saw the hustle and bustle of NYC… so roomy and bathroom was huge! My girlfriend and I were super happy and the beds weren’t bad at all… I slept like a baby every night!
— Elevators are fast! Not your typical elevator… just press your floor and go directly to the elevator it tells you to go to… so I’m on 325… press 3 and then it tells you to go to H and an arrow points to where to go. Don’t jump into any elevator because there’s no buttons on the elevator to change the floor so you are screwed lol.
— City Kitchen is right downstairs and so convenient. Shake Shack is across the street too!!!
— They are not stingy with towels… housekeeping is great. Gym is actually decent too.
— Love how they’re bathrooms in the hotel is key access only.
CONS
— Water pressure sucks in the shower
— AC unit cover fell off
— No ice on the 5^th floor
— Bagels werent great at District M plus the system was down and they charged the room and I got stuck with a bill for $ 60 wtf
— Be careful not to put your room key close to your credit cards
So I just missed the anniversary of city kitchen when we first arrived… missed free lobster rolls boooo!
This hotel was a perfect spot. .easy to get a taxi… perfect for tourists cuz time square was right there.
They had a live band on a fri night… very chic, modern, trendy hotel. It was a bit creepy walking alone in the hallways.
Would I stay again? Well if I had 325 again heehee.

This hotel is subpar, that is an overstatement. Oh where do I begin. We came from LaGuardia, and we came onto the hotel lobby with our bags in hand. We were greeted by these rude staff who took our bags from our hands, and LITTERALY through luggage tags at us. Not a great start. I ordered a 2 bed room in the hotel, but we got a one bed on the 3^rd floor. Very, VERY bad. Two of us had to sleep on the floor for crying out loud! They transferred us to a ninth floor room, luckily with two beds, and unfortunately in a very hasty manner, and the bellhop threw our bags and the floor outside our room and left. This experience was very bad, and I will never go here again.

The Row. Perfectly Adequate.

I recently took a business trip to New York and our group was booked at The Row for five days. Needless to say after reading all of the negative reviews my exceptions were set pretty low. When my week ended I walked away knowing that the Row is okay. There’s some good, there’s some bad, but it the end you could do much worse. Just temper your expectations.
I flew into New York from San Diego on a red-​eye flight. We actually arrived at the hotel at 7am and even though we requested early check-​in they said no rooms till 4PM. Obviously this was a poor first impression because we wanted to get settled in from a crappy all night flight. Tip — Our office manager called the hotel and was able to get a room by 2PM. So try calling earlier, perhaps at 9 or 10 when the maids were going through rooms.
— My Room. I was on the 21^st floor with a Deluxe City View. There was one window in this room and the view was pretty cool (see my picture). This room had two twin beds an not much room for anything else. The bathroom is pretty small, but it’s the «sliding closet bathroom door» that kinda sucked. It left a bunch of gaps and no noise proofing! The bed was low to the ground but had a comfy mattress and three nice pillows. There was A/​C in the room that was pretty loud when it was on. Actually a bonus in my book and kept a perfect sleeping temperature. If you take a closer look around the room you will see the «fit and finish» issues that others have reported. Our room had a water stain on the wall and there was a lot of dirt and debris on the floor that wasn’t accessible by general vacuuming.
— The Staff. For me the staff was okay but housekeeping was not friendly at all. Didn’t acknowledge a smile or a good morning. Security was pretty nice and helpful especially handling a drunk women on our floor banging on doors at 1:30 am. Other people in our group said the check-​in service acted like they hated their job. Maybe I saw a little of that.
— The Row seems to specialize in booking large groups. If you happen to check in during a busy time then it’s going to be a long wait for you. Fortunately I missed those crowds but I saw the long line for bag check and I saw the sour faces.
— Elevators — Once you understand how it works, it’s fine. A few times it was very busy, but not too bad. Not anything worse than Las Vegas.
— Lobby /​bar /​hallways area had a nice vibe in the evening with the music. Think Hard Rock Hotel knock off.
— City Kitchen. It’s a convenient gourmet foodcourt attached to the hotel for quick food options including Ramen and Lobster rolls. Make it a point to check it out.
— They have filtered water dispensers on some floors. Very useful.
— Location. Can’t complain, it’s pretty close to Times Square and transportation.
Summation —
I have read the negative reviews and I can see why some people wrote them. I think the Row is fine for Tourist travel. I’m not so sure about business travel as they don’t allow early check-​ins so it may not work out for you.

Perfect. Well, okay, two small issues, but very minor. First off, understand, if you will, that I have stayed in many different hotels in New York City, and many famous ones, such as the Waldorf and the Hilton Times Square. Row NYC deserves a fair review, and it would not be a fair review if you were weighing this fine hotel against a much higher priced location. So, let’s consider the Row NYC on a fair scale based on the reasonable prices at hand. This is a $$ hotel and not a $$$$ hotel, okay? But, for $$ it ROCKS!
I’ve read many of the other reviews and will address some of the issues I see.
1. The Long Check In. Yes, at certain times of the day, you might have to wait a while in line to check in. The reason there is a line is because the hotel is popular. It’s popular because you get an excellent value for your money and because you are in the Times Square area, which is an area of very high demand. But, the Row NYC is working on new ways to lessen the waiting time. I was taken out of the rear of the line and helped test out a new system to be used for checking in. My reward was not only speeding up my check in process but I was given a great free upgrade for being a test subject. But for everyone else in line, I noticed that the line went very quickly.
2. The Staff. The staff is fantastic. No problems with their very plentiful and helpful staff. Look for Patrick, one of the upper level staff members, he will, like his colleagues, be very very helpful should you have questions or concerns. Patrick is destined to be the PRESIDENT OF THIS COMPANY. You want to talk to Patrick. Patrick is fantastic.
3. Room Size. Yes, the rooms are small. That’s what one should expect in this area of the City. But the rooms are not so small that you will need some sort of therapy when you get home. The rooms have everything you need. Don’t expect to be able to land an airplane in your room. The elevator system is great and you get taken up to your floor in short order. The room maids were friendly and helpful.
4. Noise. My room was more quiet than the one I last had at the Waldorf and I am not just saying that. I slept like a baby. I had NO noise from neighboring rooms or the hallway.
5. What Do You Have in Your Room? Well, the bed was there, and the bed was clean, comfortable, and perfect. The room was clean. One downside: no bath, but a shower. I am okay with that. But the shower curtain just could not be placed in such a way that the bathroom floor didn’t puddle. Row NYC staff: look into that. The electric plugs at the desk were dead. Room 2009, check it out, needs a repair.
The TV was great. The heating/​ac were both great. Lighting was great. Having a desk area was great, except for that one issue I mentioned. The view was great. (See photo below!) Perfect room, really, I can’t complain about the two defects too much.
6. The Hotel Lobby. Okay, there is a bar, and it’s a nice bar, and a place to eat, and what was great, was a ²⁴⁄₇ shoppe where you can buy bandaids, soft drinks, snacks, magazines and the like. It’s helpful to have a little convenience store like that at any hour, so you don’t have to go outside. You can just go on down in your socks if you want and grab that little something you forgot to pack.
The over all scene is «YOUNG PEOPLE.» ROW NYC wants to be hip. At 62, I dunno what hip is or is not at this point, but the music didn’t bother me, and I was pretty sure that I heard a live band play cover songs from my generation’s music, which, i guess, is still hip. The vibe on the lobby floor is energetic and fine and great.
7. Getting there. If you have only a small amount of luggage, forget a taxi or über. Instructions if you come in from JFK. Take the airtrain (five dollars) to Jamaica Station, and then the E train (three dollars for a two hour ticket) to Times Square. Short two block walk or so. And of course, from the Hotel you can walk to Times Square in very short order. Anyway, 8 dollars for fares on the airtrain and subway is less than what I tip the taxi driver, and taxi drivers drive very very FAST and scary now. Not good, as I said, if you have a huge amount of luggage.
8. For $$ it rocks. I stayed two weeks ago, on another business trip, at a famed location in the Battery. It sucked. Noisy room, an even smaller room! I called down to room service and said, «Hi, is this Room Service? Send up up a room!» (Thanks to Groucho Marx for that old chestnut of a joke.) Seriously, this is a great hotel for the price. Don’t nit pick a $$ hotel for not being a $$$$$ hotel. The staff wants to fix any problems, so give them a chance. Just politely let them know if you have any issues and they will attend to them.
9. Okay, one small complaint. They have apple IMACS you can use for free in the lobby, in half hour blocks. But nothing to sit on while you do. There should be stools.
8. Ask for Patrick. Tell him hi from me!

I personally don’t get the negative reviews about this place. I’m here currently and having a very nice stay. My room is comfortable, clean, and aside from no in room coffee (seriously, boo.) everything is great.
Check in was quick for me, but I had an early flight.
The elevators are generally efficient, but during peak times you may have to wait a trip or two.
One other minor thing: on arriving to my room, I noticed my room safe was unusable, as it was locked in the open position and cannot be closed. I’ve called the front desk twice but it has yet to be fixed.
If you’re the type to complain about long queues, perhaps a holiday in NYC isn’t the place for you. Check out Des Moines.

Really, this is something…
Looking for a decent stay, but can’t afford the insanely expensive NYC room-​rates? Head to Row NYC, where it is located just a few blocks from Times Square, and many many Broadway theaters. Our contemporary standard room was small, with clean white bedding (important,) and the bathroom was H.U.G.E,(wheelchair accessible bathroom, perhaps? No complain here! Even better, WiFi was free for hotel guests. Yes FREE WiFi.
Downsides:
— No in-​room coffeemaker. C’MON, Really???
— Mobile check-​in kiosk, didn’t do us any good. I didn’t get confirmation email that includes a barcode from Expedia, so we weren’t sure how to use it. Pass!
— Lobby was crowded with long, yet fast check-​in line.
— $ 25 plus tax facilities fee per room, per night.
Tips:
— The standard room bed was so tiny. If you are planning to share it with someone (a friend!) good luck not being called either cuddly, or worse, a blanket thief.
— As a courtesy, I think, the desk clerk waived that facilities fee. I was paying cash, it was suggested I donate $ 5 to Save the children foundation, and the fee would be waived.
