Pretty awful customer service. I’ll never buy anything here again and this is why.
I bought a gift at this store for my mother for Christmas last year at the the store on Fillmore Street in San Francisco. It was a pretty stone necklace. The store had a 14 day store credit return policy. So I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal because my mother lives near NYC and could return it to that store if she didn’t like it.
Fortunately, she loved it and wore it once.
And then it broke.
She took it to her local jeweler for repair and they said that it shouldn’t have broken and to take it back to the store.
I flew back to the East Coast and walked with my mother into the NYC store (The Flagship Store) and asked if they could 1. fix the necklace, 2. replace the necklace, 3. get a refund or 4. get store credit.
They absolutely positively refused to be helpful. Even when I asked to speak to the manager they said that she wasn’t available and they would not do anything for us. NOT EVEN REPAIR IT. I demanded to speak to the manager and the woman at the counter said she would give my name and number to the manager and they would contact me.
Needless to say that was MONTHS AGO and no one has contacted me.
I can’t even walk by that store without being disgusted. The. Worst.

This is my favorite little boutique in NYC. Yes, it’s pricey, but I’ve lucked out there during sale time and been able to get fabulous pieces that end up being staples of my wardrobe. Roberta imports the most interesting clothes and accessories. I can’t tell you how many compliments I get on my black velvet tunic or the rabbit-​trimmed shawl I wear nearly every day throughout the NYC winter. This is a fantastic place to pick up a unique gift, and even if they return it, you know they’ll be able to find something they like and will appreciate that you just let them into the little secret that is Roberta Freymann. (Note: There are 3 stores all within a couple blocks of eachother — one has more clothes, the other more home goods, and the smallest store seems to specialize is scarves, purses and tunics)

This store does have some interesting things, the problem is their return policy.
I purchased a dress to wear to a wedding that the saleswoman said looked amazing. When I showed a friend later that afternoon she said it looked horrible and that I had to return it. I took the dress back the next morning and when I returned it they informed me that it was only for store credit and the credit would expire in 6 months. I think it is a pretty absurd policy since I hadn’t owned the dress 24 hours.

I always enjoy the displays at Roberta Freymann– the dresses, wraps and jewelry are posh but affordable. The staff here are polite and understanding– they don’t seem to mind my multiple visits and pawing through the merchandise.

I usually find one interesting thing in here everytime I’m in town. First it was the wedge velvet shoes in burnt orange. The rage! Then a lilac ruffeled blouse from Argentina. Always unique. An extra splash. Never too Barney’s or the Gap. Better than Calypso.

Such a great find that I didn’t tell people about it when I first «discovered» this store. I know I know, I’m selfish… I cannot keep it to myself anymore though, it’s just amazing. I never leave this store without purchasing something… amazing textiles clothes and accessories from Roberta’s travels adorn this cute space. Their pj’s for children are adorable. I’ve spent so much here that I can’t afford to fly to an exotic locale at the moment, but thanks to Roberta, I don’t have to!
