If you have been in therapy before, you know that finding the right therapist can be daunting. We all know that a therapist needs to be technically skilled, but it’s the personal connection, and the relationship, that heals. I have many years of postgraduate training, but I’m also interested in who you are, and what YOU need to move forward, to connect more deeply, or to find more comfort or more meaning in your life. My practice is diverse. I work with clients of all ages and many backgrounds who are dealing with the difficulties of life, whether that shows up as anxiety/depression symptoms, problems in relationships, difficulty being present or feeling connected or finding purpose, or just a general feeling of being «stuck». If you’re considering therapy, know that good therapy can really help — and I’d be happy to help you get started.

History

Established in 2006.

I established my private practice in 2006 after working for a number of years in nonprofit and public agencies, and after also completing an intensive postgraduate training in Gestalt Therapy. Prior to opening my private practice, I provided psychotherapy in an outpatient clinic setting. I also worked in intensive outpatient substance treatment, as well as supervised staff and programs for nonprofit organizations and the City of New York.

Since opening my private practice, I have continued to work in the public sector though teaching, supervision, and consultation.

Meet the Business Owner

Robert M.

Business Owner

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with over six years of intensive postgraduate training in Gestalt Therapy. My approach is creative, interactive, and highly respectful. My training included many years of videotaped supervision as well as personal therapy hours, so I understand what it means to be on «the other side of the couch». I believe this makes me more available as a human being, and more present to my client’s process as a therapist.

I am on the adjunct faculty at CUNY Brooklyn College for their graduate program in Mental Health Counseling, and offer consultation and supervision to a number of agencies in the city of New York. Additionally, I have advanced training in couples counseling and sex/sexuality issues.
